Statistics are a funny thing - they can be manipulated. See most Dr's report low to no complication rates. Here is the kicker - that includes numbers for people that have complications DURING surgery. The rates for people that die post op are not included in the surgeons numbers. There are a few documentaries on Netflix about the medical system using statistics in their favor.
I 110% agree that everyone needs to weigh the options (obesity vs surgery). And we all have to remember' date=' no matter how simple the surgery, there are risks associated. I think I cried on and off for a week pre op wondering if I was doing the right thing. You need to do a lot of soul searching and be prepared for anything.[/quote']
One thing is they don't appear to give the stats based on how many months out. My bro who is a Dr, got the VSG, and developed a leak, almost died, and still says best thing he did, says when take the stats over a longer period (like 6 months); complication and death stats jump to like 10%
Still low IMHO.

Do you feel pressure on your chest area?
A liitle bit below the chest off and on. The vision was from the anesthesia wearing off.

So more updates. I was really
Lay impressed with how time the nurse took finding the vein for the lV. My hands were super cold so she made hot Water with a rubber glove did some other tricks, and my vein appeared.
So far no nausea, a little gas pain - nothing bad, was a bit foggy on my initial walks but all is really good.
Excellent care by all

Hi - I haven't had my surgery yet but I've read a lot on here that hair loss sometimes occurs around 3 months out. Everyone said that it lasts for a few months but DEFINITELY grows back. It is probably a result of the low Vitamins. I've also read that people have been taken Biotin to prevent / assist with the Hair loss. Don't worry - I think it is part of the process and will grow back! (Easier said than done I know - I'm very concerned about hair loss as well!)My NUT said high quality Vitamins and B12 can help mitigate hair loss. She shots are the best then a liquid under the tongue next best,

Lol... I think that's the response i get when I tell someone I am going to MX... Lol I know I know... Well at least he's not performing my procedure in his nasty garage' date=' I payed for the couch hey hey. Only kidding.
Yes, I have researched those things. Statistical information is great, but customer testimonies are way better. I am using a Doctor that many people on this forum uses, the hospital is small but surpasses that of a US hospital ( so ppl say), he does countless procedures and is certified to do so ( no black market), also the hotel I will be staying in when I get released from the hospital is a Marriott...[/quote']
Mine was done yesterday at international center of excellence which goes thru the same accreditation as COEs in the United States, one of the other ga
Ls done yesterday is anRN and said the facility and care outshhines hospitals in the US

this is the first I've heard of the dental check! How bizarre. I'm 100% covered for dental' date=' but always have to cancel due to travel. Hmmmm. something to think about.[/quote']Same here it has been 4 years since I saw the Dentist CPA took advantage of what scares me the most:dental work, also getting blood drawn not a fan e fan
But, they did well
-
OK I have a dental check (no one told me about that) to make sure I could chew my food sufficiently. Blood has been drawn and I am waiting for the NUT, oh and paperwork is complete. I am going to get my teeth cleaned and my chip fixed while I am here. I never find time for the dentist at home.
The new me is starting!

Well, now I have nice clean teeth and the chip fixed. Medical Tourism is pretty cool.
The most painful thing I have experienced is when they are pushing the meds through the IV tube. It stings / burns like crazy at the entry point. The Doctor was in the room when the nurse was doing it this morning. He was Wow, you are really sensitive to the drugs. Oh, yeah, you can tell I have never been a drug user.
I came back at had some of my SF Jello, took a nap, had some Soup. Walked down to the pool, laid there for awhile soaking up the rays, then walked around the lobbey. I am now back on the boards bored.
