    Weight loss for 300+ sleevers!

I think it just depends on the person and their metabolism rate. I haven't noticed a weight loss yet but I'm not climbing on the scales yet. I read about someone yesterday losing all sorts of weight in his first week but he is very active.. I on the other hand haven't been as productiive. Weather is just to darn cold to go out in, Can't find anything to wear that won't bother my incision area,. I get sleepy to quickly etc. I do walk around the house alot waving my arms around like the Nutrionist suggested to release gas from that area. I'm sure you'll do great and Good Luck
  2. I woke up this morning with a terrible sinus headache and I've got pains in my stomach, not sure if they are gas pains, indigestion or I'm just hungry. Haven't eaten or sipped enough to make it pains from being too full. I took a Gas X and am waiting to see if any of the pain goes away. Honestly I don't know how to tell between the different pains inside to know what they are. Outside pains are where the main incision is and I know it has to heal on it's own. I guess next I'll try an antacid , but again not sure if it's ok to take 1 of each ( Gas and Antacid) at the same time.

    Rockin' My Sleeve

Wow love hearing how well its going for you, I've been so sleepy after a couple of hours that I just give in and lay down. I get a few hours asleep then back up walking through the house even at 3 am in the morning if need be. I haven't found anything comfortable enough to wear around my stomach to go out for a walk in the fresh air but want to try that this week. Thanks for all the positive feed back
  5. Don't let the liquid diet get you down, I did and I kinda had to eat a solid here and there just to keep myself from going crazy. The whole process was scaring me and I kept wondering if there was another way. Once I gave in to my tiny piece of chicken here or a piece of fruit I was ok. Surgery went off without a hitch and I'm on day 6 post op. We are going to be doing a lot of changing in our lives to keep our sleeve healthy. Trying to stay on an all liquid diet was hard. Some people don't even have to limit to liquids before the surgery.

I think that is normal, I did the 3rd day out but have managed to stay positive by reading so many posts here. If it helps.. Sending hugs your way

    Post-op Rash?

I've been itchy too but have been keeping lotion on. I've also got a rash around the bandaids, guess from the adhesive but have put some cream on that and try to keep them exposed to the air as much as possible.

    Submitted today and approved today!

Since your surgery is in March you should be healed from your first surgery I would think. I went to a support group but I was the only one there... In fact all my classes I had to attend only consisted of 1 person..lol Me I never felt nauseous after my surgery. I had to buy suppositories for that but luckily haven't had to use them yet. Good Luck with your surgery, and think positive thoughts
  9. I went through the same thing, but per the scales I wasn't gaining. Nothing wanted to feel comfortable for me lol
  10. Congrats.... your journey is going well and it's always nice to hear success stories.
  11. One of the many reasons I like this group is.... We can talk about ourselves, we can pity ourselves cause we are in pain. Growing up I was always told to deal with it and not make too much noise about it cause others really didn't want to hear about it. Here we do, we want to know how you are feeling, what you are thinking. Sometimes I need that "It's going to get better" from others. I need to vent once in awhile. We all want the spot light because this was a big choice for us and many of those that have never had a weight issue just don't understand. I purposely did not tell my relatives about this surgery because I didn't want to deal with their sometimes snide remarks so I've remained quiet on the home front. My son and his family live with me for the moment but I don't have the support I need. Today when I went out to get some breakfast my daughter in law was eating pizza, and my son had brought home a box of doughnuts. He said he didn't think it would bother me but oh it did... I could smell them and my favorite was in the box. And I did the unthinkable. I cut off a wee piece and when I bit into it I prayed it would hurt so I wouldn't do it again. Yes it did hurt and no I didn't cut off another piece. Will I be tempted tomorrow? Probably because they are still sitting out there.. My daughter in law fixed beef stroganoff for dinner tonight and it smelled wonderful but I went back to my room and sprayed some air freshener so I couldn't smell it. Sighh at times I wish I still lived alone cause then I'd have control over what is in my home lol. But back to the original reason I started this, We are all here for each other, Vent if you want to vent, complain about your pain if it makes you feel better, Just know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE and I for one am here for you, as are many others to listen, to suggest, to be your friend if you want one. If it weren't for this group I would think that each day is going to be worse...Not better. I print big cause I wear reading glasses and I'm sure there are others that can't quite read the fine print so want others to know as well

Judge After You've Walked in My Shoes!

I don't think you will ever be judged here. I'm reading on yours the many things I've been though so we are in this together if you want it.. Surgury to me is not the easy way out, it just might be the only one that works for us. I wish you good luck in your journey and keep positive...

    Diet coke

I'm with you on the great piece of chocolate. If I have to pick my poisons let it be a good one lol.
  15. I added splenda and cinnamon to my plain low fat Fage yogurt, wasn't to bad plain but better with something added. Lots of protein though

    Introduction

Welcome and Good luck... This group has been my life saver, I'm sure you will discover many answers to your questions here...

    Diet coke

My nutrionist said that since the stomach is smaller now there is no where for the bubbles to go but up and out and can be very uncomfortable. But I imagine it effects everyone differently. I've not had the nerve to drink my ole favorite A&W Root Beer yet lol

    Protein

Wow, sounds like you are doing great with the weight loss. The protein is hard for me so I've been trying to get it with Greek Yogurt. The protein shakes make me gag as they never taste like they did before the surgery, but then again I was drinking them right after using the blender. Now it sits in the refridgerator til I can get down another ounce.
  19. I am currently taking a liquid pain killer but after 5 days I am sick of the taste. Any suggestions? I haven't tried anything in pill form, its all been chewable (Multi Vitamin) ( Chewable Calcium) Etc. Does anyone have any problems taking pills? Has anyone tried Vicodin or something less strong? I'm debating if the pain is worth not taking the medicine but sometimes it does get to be really bad, especially when I'm trying to get out of bed.. When I am up, the pain only seems to be on the left side where the largest incision is and I've noticed pain in my lower back and shoulders. My nutritionist did mention gas pains up in the shoulders and to move around alot, which I've been doing. Not sure what is causing the lower back pain. Any suggestions are helpful, I check here often to see what others are trying. I still seem to be swollen around the incision so I know it will take time for me to notice if I've lost any weight. Patience I've learned over the years...lol Thank you for any advice
  20. Thank you for all the responses, It really helps knowing I've got a support group to wake up too... I will try the Tylenol and see if that helps and if I need something stronger, perhaps the good Dr will prescribe the Tylonel 3 for night time. I hope everyone has a great day

    Surgery today

Here's wishing you lots of luck and a quick recovery...
  23. I got one from my surgeon but haven't felt like leaving the house yet. He said most places will honor it. The resturants aren't losing money, they are just serving a smaller portion for us.
  24. Happy Birthday Mark I am 4 days out and not near as active as you. I wish I could find a protein drink I like, I'm trying Unjury Vanilla at the moment but had to add some sugar free Torani raspberry syrub to make it taste better. Guess I'll stick with the Imetobolic protein drinks my Dr perscribed for now. I haven't tried the Sobe Zero water yet, I should have stocked up on a variety of things before the surgry. My daughter in law is picking up some Greek yogurt to see if it settles my stomach some. What is good for itching. Some of the bandaids are being brutal on my skin and I'm not sure what to use on them for the itch. I am trying Neosporin at the moment and leaving the bandaids off to let them air, still have the suture bandaids on, Nurse called day after and said to let them fall off by themselves. My day consists of trying to figure out how to get off the bed with very little pain, walking through the house swinging my arms to get the circulation going, taking sips of protein, water and pain meds which takes approx 45 -1 1/2 hours to do then being so sleepy I need to lay down to take a nap. And so my day goes.. lol I hope you are having a great birthday Mark and if not now then when you feel a bit better. It sounds like you are doing great though.
