  1. Hi there and welcome. I am pretty new too. Always had a little weight problem. Lost 50# once' date=' but gained it all back too. Did all the usual stuff - pills, diets, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, and just can't make anything work for the long haul. I went to a seminar end of Oct, met with surgeon for consult Nov., started 6 mos diet and fitness with nut and dr for insurance.mi wondered about the diet, but figured they want to see if we can lose something. Hopefully I will get approved quickly and be able to have surgery by end of June. I read this blog pretty much every day just to learn. I always see something I didn't know before. I am in the Cleveland Oh area and would love to talk to someone from around here. Good luck on your journey and keep writing.[/quote']

Hi Debbie I am from Strasburg Ohio about a hour south of you, straight down 77 I would love to chat dometime

  2. Wow! Everyone looks great & I can't wait until I can have mine done. Question' date=' do I have to wait a year after I've hit goal to start the process of plastics? Even though my tommy would definitely need it, my arms are what's really bothering me. I also wouldn't mind the boobs lifted. Mr dr said that the surgeon he deals with ( I live in NYC) works the wording out in such a way that the insurance should cover. I would find it very difficult to self pay. Good luck to all. Looking great!!!![/quote']

I have Medicare/ Medicaid and I was told that you have to wait till 2 years after goal and that they will pay for a Tummy Tuck if needed because of rashes but they won't pay for any other cosmetic surgery.

  3. This sounds pretty cool. How far out of surgery were you before you felt like you could start this (no necessarily DID start it). For the last few years I've really wanted to do a Try-a-Tri that is near where we camp every summer in July. It's a 400m swim' date=' 13.1 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. How soon will the average sleeved feel up to starting to train for this? My surgery is scheduled for 3/11 which only gives me 4 months until the event.[/quote']

I just asked today at my appointment about doing a 5k, they told me I could walk a 5k the day after surgery if I felt up to it but that I couldn't start heavily training to run or jog it until 2 months post surgery. I hope this helps!

  4. I just started using MyFitnessPal again yesterday to help me remember what I ate and calculate my calories. I'm usually good at doing it for a couple of days' date=' but I don't have enough discipline to keep at it; I'm gonna really try though! I'm in Columbus :) have you had your surgery yet?[/quote']

Fitness pal is what I use, I am preop I go to see the surgeon on Friday the 15. At Columbus. Dr. Needle man is my surgeon because of my being on peritoneal dialysis.

  5. We actually don't have any snow right now...we've been experiencing all four seasons in a week. One day its 65 degrees' date=' and the next thing you know, we're having a snow storm. Lol. I can't express the pain I felt after climbing all of those stairs! I was with a co-worker, so I didn't want to seem weak and say "let's take the elevator" but, afterward, I wished I would have. I don't smoke. I used to smoke socially, like when drinking...but I gave it up when I found out that per my program, you have to be smokeless for 6 months before you can have sugery. But yeah, I'm SUPPOSED to keep a food journal (I'm not always the best at keeping up with it) and I'm supposed to eat 6 times a day. Impossible! I know after surgery that I'm going to have to eat more often to make sure I'm getting the nutrients I need, but right now, it's hard...especially when I want to eat donuts, Cookies and ice cream. Lol. I'm a government employee, so my health isurance plan is pretty good. It's awesome that you've been losing weight on your own, maybe you'll motivate me to lose a few lbs too! :)[/quote']

I use a app on my phone to help me do my food journal, I am much better at remembering it over writing it down, also where in Ohio are you from? I live in Strasburg about 20 minutes south of Canton

  6. Hi' date=' Yes its a new proceedure. Here a link for those interested in more info.

    http://gastricplication.org/[/quote']

I haven't had the plication, but the surgeon is excited about me getting a plication. I am on peritoneal dialysis and this is what thinks would be safest for me. He is excited because although he has done this surgery it hasn't been done at the hospital I would go to, so once again I will be a guinea pig!

I am really glad to hear you are happy with it, I have been looking for other plication people

  7. HI My name is Rebecca MItchell I am a 35 year old mother of 4 kids (2mine, 2his) and 1 GORGEOUS grandson. I am currently on perritoneal dialysis, I am looking for other dialysis patients/bariatric patients to talk to. My nephrologist is afraid for me to have the surgery because of leaks, but the kidney transplant centers will not touch me because my BMI is over 40. I need to lose at least 40 pounds to safely have a kidney transplantt, which I have lost 6 pounds on my own by drinking 2 Protein Shakes and eating 1 healthy meal a day, but I dont forsee me continuing to lose weight on my own because on perritoneal dialysis I am getting around 1300 calories a night from my solution. I am no longer able to be on hemodialysis because after 6 1/2 years of it I have lost all places to put a site (arms, and groins). I love doing perritoneal dialysis, I feel so much better than when I was on hemo, but I hate that I have gained so much weight, I was about 210 when I started it.If you or anyone you know was on pertioneal dialysis and had bariatric surgery ( I want vertical sleeve) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE contact me!!!!
