  1. When you can...

    I go to Costco' date='

I still drink a "premier" shake for Breakfast 30 grams of Protein

"Kirkland premium extra lean all natural turkey burgers" 35 grams of Protein

And also trident seafoods "Alaskan salmon burgers" 20 grams of protein.

    [/quote']

I got the salmon burgers and turkey burgers and they are amazing;) I already drink the premier shakes but has not tried the other items!! Go glad I did! Thanks for the suggestions.

  2. Last night I attended an informational session that is required by the surgeons I will be going to. I went with my mind fully made up that I want to have the gastric band surgery. After hearing the information I am leaning more toward the sleeve. But am I ready for something that drastic???

Would you guys do it again?

What made you choose the sleeve over the band?

    Any failed successes?

    Thank you for your help!

Yes I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I chose the sleeve after doing a lot of research on the band and bypass. The sleeve is the best of both world, you have restriction without the dumbing syndrome. I didn't want the band because it was temporary and has a high complication rate. The bypass I didn't want the malnutrition . So the sleeve was the option for me.

I am 9 weeks post op so I have not failed and don't plan to in the future:). My sleeve was done 1/23/13.

I love that I did this for myself!!

  3. I have a lot of co-workers that have had either the bypass or lapband done and the name Malley is very familiar' date=' so I know he has done the procedure on someone. I can't remember though if he was the one that everyone loved or was warned by some to stay away. I'll follow up with you after I talk to my co-workers that have had the procedure.[/quote']

I was warned to avoid that practice when I started looking into wls. I don't know anyone personally that has gone there but working in healthcare I trusted my resources.

  4. Ok today was the first day after surgery I felt like I could keep anything down. I had surgery 3/14. So today was day 4 post op. Im starving...this liquid stuff is killing me. Did anyone start eating purees sooner if you felt like you could? If so how was it. I tried some vegtable Soup today and chewed some vegatables really well and seemed to be fine. I just dont wanna do that if its gonna screw with my healing. Let me know what you think. Thanks

My doc only has us eat stained soup and thin cream of wheat or oatmeal, yogurt for 3 days then start soft foods until 8 week then full diet. I never had to do purée at all. I'm 8 weeks out and have not had issues at all.

  5. Thanks! I'll look into the crystal lite naturals. Is stevia healthier than Splenda? I haven't done my research clearly.

Never heard if Desani drops...what are they sweetened with?

    Thanks!

Stevia is plant based not made in a lab like Splenda is. I have not looked at the Desani drops, most liquid inhancers have sugar alcohol. I will have to look at them.

  6. I am trying to cut out the fake sugar. It's hard considering plain Water makes me nauseated. This unfortunate effect is new since surgery and hopefully will abate as time passes

Until then' date=' are there any simple powders or on-the-go packets I can add to flavor my Water that don't have aspartame or sucralose?

Just squirting lemon has unfortunately not stopped the nausea so I'm hoping there's some miracle product or suggestion out there.

    Thanks for any advice!

I like the crystal lite Pure that uses stevia to sweeten. I try to stay clear of the aspartame. I still limit these but they seem to be the best alternative.

  7. I was sleeved yesterday' date=' 2/28, with Dr Hoehn. Surgery went well, Checked in at 9am yesterday, out by 930 this morning. Having a hard time getting all my liquids in, it hurts with every swallow. But I hear that will past... Let the losing began.[/quote']

Congrats!! And yes the discomfort will go away on a few days.

  8. At first I wanted the Lap Band and when the doctor questioned my choice I started researching the sleeve because I knew bypass was not a option I wanted due to the malabsorption. So I called the office back and told them I changed my mind and wanted the sleeve. My husband and I both agreed after researching that the sleeve was the right choice for me:) I have not regretted it yet!

  9. I didn't mind my co workers knowing. Maybe because I'm s nurse and I feel close to most of them, but I also knew I needed their support when I'm at work. I am lucky that all of my coworkers have been positive and supportive. But this is a journey for me so I figured being upfront was best. It is a personal decision for everyone:)
