  1. So if I do this and lose weight would it stop me from losing more weight post op? Im curious because now I think i can do2 shakes and 2 small meals. Had anyone had significant weight loss pre op without the 2 week liquid diet? My surgery isn't till December. My thought' date=' I guess, is maybe I can do it on my own. Idk.[/quote']

I have lost 100+ lbs 2 other times in my life and couldn't keep it off. I have hypothyroidism also and it make weight loss an uphill battle! Having the VGS was the BEST thing I have ever done for myself, and I would do it again:). It is the tool I needed and now will always have with me!

  2. Check into doctors in the states as well. I got several quotes from Mexico doctors for a Tummy Tuck and I was going to pay more in Mexico then I paid to have it done in Kansas City. One quote was 200 cheaper but then I had air fair and hotel costs. Plus someone had to go with me or I had to pay for a nurse to take care of me. The next place in Mexico was 700 more plus the cost of air fair' date=' hotel and a nurse or have someone go with me. So it's worth the time to check out doctors and prices before you just run off to Mexico. I paid for my tummy tuck by saving like crazy! I canceled my satellite, and I have a pre paid phone to save money. Good luck![/quote']

Who did your tummy tuck in KC?? I am looking into this and live near KC. I have been researching diff surgeons here but if your happy with your results I would like to know whom you saw.

  3. I realized that we have a conflict with the 4th Saturday and another meeting. I was wondering if moving the meeting in September to the third Sat' date=' at about 10:30 AM would be better for everyone. They have a group that meets in the large room from 9- about 10:30. We could do earlier and maybe we could sit outside if the weather is good. It is just pretty tight in the small room for all of us to be at one small table. Let me know what you think![/quote']

I can make it the 3 rd Sat:)

  4. Yes' date=' I've had her twice and I get so hungry I could bite a baby. I don't but I could. Also, I find that I retain Water so much more now (drinking barely 60 oz) than I did pre-op (drinking over 100 oz).[/quote']

Yep:( I'm 6 mo post op and every month like clockwork I get hungrier a few days before. I try to bump up my Protein and have found that helps some- but I allow myself a bit of dark chocolate which really keeps the cravings at bay. My dietitian told me it was ok to add a few calories at that time but to drop back after.

  5. I have to bring her back every once in awhile...

Just got done watching "Extreme Weight Loss". I always feel so inspired when I watch that show. This lady was about the size I was when I had surgery. She was 290 and I was 294. She got down to 149 and then gained 32 pounds back in 3 weeks!!!! She eventually lost it but so scary how she gained it back so quickly. I know it would take alot for us to gain that much weight back in such a short time but still...... I felt her pain. She had such emotional problems. I could relate to her so much. The pain she felt from her past. The pain I felt when I would aways turn to food as a child because I always felt abandoned. Long story and I won't go there but it made me cry. Made me want more than ever to get off this last bit of weight and to exercise and be healthy!! I'm glad I have this tool to help me but my WORST nightmare would be to gain back this weight. Chris made her wear a back pack with all the weight she had lost ( 109 pounds) and hike down the Grand Canyon. I know it had to be so emotional for her. I just wanted to break down and cry when she took that weight off her back when she made it down the canyon. WOW.. I just can't stress enough how blessed I feel. Even with all of the problems I have right now with my back' date=' GERD, Bile Reflux, Gastritis... Still... I never want to feel the way I did at 294 pounds.. the lady below was so sad and broken. I have to look at her every once and awhile and remember and not to go back. Then... there is me now....

You look awesome!! Beautiful new you:)

  6. Thank you to all of you that came out today for the meeting! It was great to get together with everyone and talk about our journeys. We missed you bikerchick (Dove) and hope to see you next time. We will meet again the 4th Sat. In September at the Bean Counter Cafe in the Lead Bank at 9 AM.

It was fun meeting all of you;) I look forward to the next meeting.

  7. We are meeting this Saturday morning at the Lead Bank. It is on 7 Highway near Colburn Road Just outside of Blue Springs. Bean Counter Cafe' date=' entrance is on the back side of bank. 9-9:30 AM.

Please post here if you can make it. I think we have some brand new sleeves and maybe a couple of pre sleeve surgery people! Bring something to share as far as a food you like, a recipe or a great Protein idea. See you on Saturday![/quote']

I can be there:) can't wait to meet all of you!

  8. I had am email from Lisa last week about having a meeting' date=' she said she was busy going back and forth to Omaha to check on her Mother. I can set up a meeting if we want to have one in July, at The Bean Counter Cafe again. How about we shoot for the third Saturday in July. Would that work for any of you? I have a friend that has surgery tomorrow and my daughter is having it within the next few months, so hopefully they can come too.[/quote']

I don't have to work;) so I actually could come that day!!

  9. Since non bariatric specialists arent familiar with what VSG entails.. in an energency situation what should we put in the Bracelet?

Maybe: "WLS' date=' Vertical Sleeve: NG TUBE ONLY UNDER XRAY"

I plan to ask my surgeon, but any med professionals have better suggestions here?[/quote']

I have " Sleeve Gastrectomy, NO NG/ FluidCap 60cc, Dr # " this is what was on the sticker the dr office gave me to put on the back of my drivers license.

Yes most non Bariatric doc's do not know much about VGS but having a med alert id is helpful if you can not speak for yourself.
