kidrn72 replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am actually 10 weeks post op but just had my 2 mo check up with my doctor and was thrilled!! I don't need cholesterol medicine anymore!! All my labs were good and he said I am right on track with my weight loss;) -
Bariatric Fusion is what my doc and nut recommend for the patient in the practice I go to. They are chewable and don't taste bad. I have to chew 3 a day which is fine with me:)

I am 10 weeks post op and what your going though is completely normal at this stage. It will get better and you learn what all the sensations are that your new tummy is telling you. You are doing all the right things so just keep up what your doing.

Kansas City Area Sleevers?
kidrn72 replied to Believinginlisa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I work 4/27:( -
Yes I would do it again in a heartbeat! I chose the sleeve after doing a lot of research on the band and bypass. The sleeve is the best of both world, you have restriction without the dumbing syndrome. I didn't want the band because it was temporary and has a high complication rate. The bypass I didn't want the malnutrition . So the sleeve was the option for me. I am 9 weeks post op so I have not failed and don't plan to in the future:). My sleeve was done 1/23/13. I love that I did this for myself!!

My doc only has us eat stained soup and thin cream of wheat or oatmeal, yogurt for 3 days then start soft foods until 8 week then full diet. I never had to do purée at all. I'm 8 weeks out and have not had issues at all.

Including pre op I am down 44.5 pounds today and I was sleeved on 1/23;) -
Stevia is plant based not made in a lab like Splenda is. I have not looked at the Desani drops, most liquid inhancers have sugar alcohol. I will have to look at them.

Working out core feels slightly uncomfortable
kidrn72 replied to Beautyandbeyond's topic in Fitness & Exercise
How far post op are you?? I am 7 weeks and just now am able to do ab exercises. I had a similar experience your are describing about 3 weeks out when I was over doing it with my walking. I had to back off a bit for a while. Yo may want to check with your doc but I bet it is just muscles. -
Quest Bars are the best I found. I use them when I am on the go all day. They have Whey protein isolate which is best for absorption. They are pricey but worth it, even my teenage daughter steals them from my stash:)

Would you have paid without insurance coverage?
kidrn72 replied to Houston17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! If I had been denied I would have paid out of pocket for my sleeve surgery. I had a plan B in case my insurance denied me. I am so happy that I had it done:) -
NEED ANSWERS FROM ALL YOU POST OPS...PLEASE
kidrn72 replied to yazzy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was off for 3 weeks but I am an ER nurse and work 12 hour shifts on my feet. My doc didn't want me back too soon. I think it depends on what your job is. I had lifting restrictions for those 3 weeks so that was a factor as well. Good luck with your surgery -

FINALLY SLEEVED 2/28/13
kidrn72 replied to caramelbaby10181's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats!! Rest and heal:) -
At first I wanted the Lap Band and when the doctor questioned my choice I started researching the sleeve because I knew bypass was not a option I wanted due to the malabsorption. So I called the office back and told them I changed my mind and wanted the sleeve. My husband and I both agreed after researching that the sleeve was the right choice for me:) I have not regretted it yet!

What to tell work people
kidrn72 replied to kooks3003's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I didn't mind my co workers knowing. Maybe because I'm s nurse and I feel close to most of them, but I also knew I needed their support when I'm at work. I am lucky that all of my coworkers have been positive and supportive. But this is a journey for me so I figured being upfront was best. It is a personal decision for everyone:) -
Eating more with TOM at 4month out.
kidrn72 replied to NisaletOAM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes!! I want to eat more about 4 days prior to my cycle and it was like that pre surg too! I just try to eat protein snacks. Having Quest protein bars on hand help for me, my favorite is chocolate brownie. I can indulge without the guilt.
