  1. None of the above. However, when I try to eat any of the foods I previously mentioned, I get the sensation that the food gets stuck in my throat. I can almost feel it go down, much in the same way a snake looks after eating a mouse! Since these foods are so hard to eat now, I wonder how does our body acclimate to them. I am enjoying my weight loss, but don't want to eat mush foods for the rest of my life.
  2. Ironically, I am able to eat rice, if cooked well. I have been eating yogurt since week 2. I have not attempted re-fried beans. I have heard eggs are difficult to digest. I'm glad you are able to eat them. I would give an eye-tooth for a piece of bread though. Another savior for me has been cottage cheese, which I tolerate very well. Fat free of course.
  3. Which foods are you referring to?
  4. I was 3 weeks post op last Friday. I accumulate mucous by simply eating Protein shakes and Soup. Typically I can simply expel it, but I go through a coughing spell in the afternoons. I don't know what that's all about. No complaints really, though I experienced heartburn today, for the first time since my surgery...eating absolutely nothing differently. I am still working on getting into a groove regarding eating anything that isn't liquid based.
  5. Actually yes, I am aiming to hit my goal weight (200 lbs) before New Years Day. That's approx 100lbs in nine months. Understanding that 10 lbs a month is realistic, I should be able to accomplish it, now that I am mixing in bike riding. Per my doctor, I should lose approx 50 lbs by 4/1. I'm down 30 lbs now, with two weeks to go. That is a stretch. After the first month of heavy weight loss, "sleevers" typically lose on average of 2.5 lbs a week, or 10 lbs a month. Ironically, I turn 50 in June.
  6. Amazing. We started at the same weight, and were sleeved three days apart. We are 9lbs apart today. The doctor cleared me for bike riding. I hope that accelerates my weight loss.
  7. Sleeved 2/22. Down 35 lbs total. 25 lbs post-op.
  8. Looks like we are on similar schedules. I was cleared for light exercise. Dying to ride my bike, which has been sitting in storage.
  9. Sleeved 2/22. I lost 10 lbs pre-op and 23 lbs post-op. I only weigh myself once a week, or I would drive myself crazy. Don't be scared of Protein shakes. I bought a Ninja, and have sourced over 200 recipes They are quite tasty as soon as you know what to add! Anyone eating solids or working out 3 weeks post-op? I doing neither yet.
  10. I was sleeved on 2/22, and am progressing well. Entering my third week diet plan, I am struggling with hunger. Needless to say, when I eat it does not take much to satisfy me, but the satisfied feeling goes away within an hour. I go back to work on Monday, and do not have the tme to baby-sit my stomach. Is there anyone else feeling this way? if so, how do you combat it? Thanks!

    Post-op Hunger Pangs

Frankly, I can't stand the thought of puree'd foods. I'll try softer foods and work my way up I guess.

    Post-op Hunger Pangs

I buy Progresso soups as they contain less carbs than Campbells. Anything under 15g of carbs. I'm not on a liquid diet, but liquids agree with me more than solid foods. If. I eat something solid, such as an egg, I feel a tightness in my stomach. Almost like a constriction. However anything in soup, including chicken or veggy's does not create that sensation. I am concerned I am not taking in enough calories, though my Dr. claims my weight loss in right on track.

Laura - Thank you for asking. Below is my typical day. Breakfast - Home-made Protein shake (16oz). lunch - Bowl of Soup. Typically a "lite" soup that has 15g of carbs or less Snack - a few tablespoons of low fat cottage cheese. Water - throughout the day. dinner - Usually soup, with a small helping of cottage cheese. Snack - low fat yogurt and sugar free 15 cal popsicles. I began week 3 post-op yesterday.

    Post-op Hunger Pangs

I begin each day with Prilosec even though all of my GERD symptoms have disappeared after my surgery along with my snoring. Wife is happy.

    February Sleevers

Hello Feb Sleevers. I am 2 weeks Post op today, and feel fantastic. In fact, I return to work on Monday. For those of you experiencing discomfort, rest assured you will be feeling much better very soon. Remember to walk as much as possible and drink as much water as you can. Don't push yourself, your weight will come off, just don't push your diet.
  16. I am giving away my Unjury starter kit (Minus one packet). The first person to claim it get's it. All I ask is to send me a few bucks for postage (PayPal). I bought the Ninja blending system and am making my own protein shakes.

    Unjury Protein

I received my unjury sample pack this afternoon. Very candidly, I tried one flavor (Strawberry) and had to dispose of it. I'm sticking to my Atkins shakes for Protein. I realize I am in the minority, as many people love Unjury. The first person that sends me $7.00 (PayPal) to cover postage and their shipping address gets the entire package, minus one drink. I will be sending only the Unjury packages, excluding the thermometer and travel cup. Best of luck to all.

    Obsessing over cheating

I think the mere fact that you felt guilty (though you didn't do anything wrong) shows the progress you've made. For me, the surgery represents a new lease on life. I was sleeved on 2/22. I am looking forward to riding my bicycle more than eating something I shouldn't. IMO, we have all been given second chances. How much we take advantage of it is up to us. Personally, I look at restaurant commercials with contempt. That food that looks so good is really poison. I think deep down we all know what choices to make to live a longer, healthier life. The longer we do the right thing, the less we will be tempted.

    help please

Jacee - I'm not a lady, but I hope I can help, as I was sleeved on 2/22. From what you are describing, you still have a considerable amount of gas in your body. Walking will help you 100% more than Gas-X. Try to walk a little every two hours. Also, you may want to try to eat something a little more binding than protein shakes. For me, non fat yogurt helped put an end to excessive diarrhea. I know I sound like a broken record, but walking and sipping cool water should help you, just don't over do it.
  20. I am seven days post-op today. I should also state that I am not one to buck the system, but there is something related to post-op foods that I am missing. I can eat what I want. Although I am sticking to the plan by eating Protein shakes, yogurts and soups, I have no doubt that I could eat a portion of steak without a problem. My question: If our body can digest healthy foods, why are we "stuck" on liquids and liquid food? I have no desire to eat pizza or potato chips, but I question why I am stuck eating water-based foods when fresh vegetables and fruits are much healthier and nutrient-rich. Thanks!
  21. I guess I should consider myself lucky, as I can drink an 11oz protien shake in one sitting (during the span of 20 mins). I am also able to eat a cup of non-fat yogurt in the same amount of time. Between yougurt and shakes, I sip on water. I no longer suffer from gas pain, though I can still feel it. Im making sure to get in as much walking as possible. Tomorrow is one week post-op. Looking forward to eating real food.
  22. "Need to eat" is what they call head-hunger. How could you possibly be full? (Compared to what you are used to eating). I am only 3 days ahead of you. I was sleeved on 2/22. If you make sure to drink water throughout the day, and take in protein shakes, jello and non-fat yogurt you should feel satiated. A 15 calories sugar free popsicle is pretty satisfying too. When I hear my stomach growl, I'll eat one of the foods I already mentioned and the pangs go away. Best of luck to you.
  23. Im six days post-op and am still riddng myself of gas. Who knew it would take so long. The tenderness is my belly improves day to day. Don't make the mistake I did by over-doing it. Remember to walk as much as possible!
  24. An outsider would look at most of us and assume we are all over-eaters. Although many of us fall into that category, I thought a little self reflection could help us correct some of the things we all do collectively that made the "sleeve" procedure our best option. Speaking strictly for myself, this is how it happened to me: 1. I am a computer technician. I sit behind a keyboard eight hours a day. At night, I am a student. The only physical exercise I get is lifting my coffee cup, or walking to the kitchen to make a sandwich. 2. I have Asthma, so working out is out of the question. I bought bicycles for my wife and I to get a little exercise, but it's hard to pedal for any distance when you are having trouble breathing. 3. I eat the most at night, the worst possible time. I never learned to take a few minutes out of each day for myself. 4. I eat out too often. Restaurant portions are obscene, but I have no problem eating every bite. 5. Anxiety - I take medication that is known to pack on the pounds. I made the decision years ago to be fat rather than drive myself nuts. Thanks for taking the time to read my story. I'm certain everyone would love to here yours!
  25. I am now 4 days post-op. How time flies. It seems to get easier (less discomfort) each day. The monotony of allowable foods isn't pleasant, but I'm staying on course. I am going to step up walking, as it seems to help rid the body of trapped air. Moving over to the Post-op forums. Thanks to everyone for their input and support!
