    Very happy!

Hey Karisss, congrats girl!! You look fantastic!! I'm 5'5" and 260 lbs. At 29 I can't think of a better 30th bday gift to myself than to loose all this extra baggage and go into the next 30 years fierce. I hope I'll be fortunate and not be too shrinkly. Thanks for sharing the pics, it's such an inspiration!

Have to admit, I got a lil misty eyed. You too look outstanding! Looks like you're loving life in those healthier figures. Thanks for being such great examples to us and all those who know you personally!

    I'm nervous...

Thanks! I know you're right I just need to exhale and let it out, remembering all the positive reasons I'm doing this. My sister even mentioned that if she could she thinks she'd have a revision to the sleeve.

My 1 year is coming up.....

Niiiiice Golden! You should feel extremely proud. I can only hope I am that successful. I'm scheduled for sometime in March. I've got 130 lbs to lose.

What's an e-waiting room? Is it hospital specific?

    Wife isn't supportive

Jason, I feel for ya man. My best advice is to take some time to consider how she's feeling (what might her perspective be?) and then try to talk to her, heart to heart (keeping her potential perspective in mind), sharing when the time is right that you feel misunderstood, resented, and unsupported. She might very well be scared for you and/or for the ambiguous changes this will bring your relationship. I mean, it kinda sounds like she has her own bag of mixed emotions to sort through.
  9. Wow, you have made amazing progress! That's got to feel awesome. Congrats!

    Everything finished!

    How exciting! Good Luck!
  11. I am currently looking for work. I'm not sure what to do if I get offered a job. There is apart of me hoping I'll get offered a job I can start after my week or two recovery.
  12. I've only told the inner circle - my husband, my sister, my two best friends, and my parents. I suppose more of my family and friends will know. If I'm asked I certainly won't lie but I'm not publicizing it all around.

    Approved and nervous

I understand how you could feel both. I certainly do and I haven't submitted for approval yet. I just try to remember all the positives, the relatively small chance of fatality/complications, and the life I want to live. Hang in there! You're stronger than you know and braver than you think. After all, you've come this far.

    how did your EGD go?

Will do! I'll be talking to a nurse a few days before to get the skinny (hehehe) on what to expect.

    Sugery tomorrow!

Hey SimplyFAB, take deep a breath and remember all the reasons you are doing this and all things you are planning to do with your soon-to-be smaller, healthier body. I'll send out some prayers throughout the day for you. Know we are here as a source of support. Hope to hear from ya sooner rather than later.

    Any March Sleevers?

I'm fortunate that we have a third party patient advocacy program that's separate from our insurance but acts as sort of a middle man; explaining benefits, procedures, a 24 hr rn, etc, etc. My advocate and assigned rn have been so helpful. The rn has called to check in on how I'm getting on in the process every few weeks. She answers any questions I have and talks to me about all sorts of health/lifestyle related issues my family may be concerned with. So far I've been checking off the pre-op requirements at a fairly steady pace. This week I've had nothing to do and the next thing I have to get done isn't until the 30th. The more time passes, the more room my nerves have to grow. It's so strange to me to be both terrified and extremely excited. Reminds me of my first pregnancy. Anyone else wishing March world hurry up already?

    6 Weeks post-op with a horrible cold

I'm pre-op but have a sore that today and was going to inquire about this myself. I'm windering what we can take at different stages of post-op. Also, if it feels different in any way to be sick after the sleeve.
  20. So glad to hear you are doing well and receiving good care!

    Doctoral class and sleeve?

I just finished grad school in December. I can't imagine the recovery and grad school. Props to you! My surgery isn't until March so I can't answer your question. But, I wouldn't take any chances. Is there any way you could get the assignment done prior to?

How long did you take off work?

This thread has been very helpful since I'm currently unemplpyed (just graduated from grad school) and unsure about the timing of a new job and surgery. My dr's office indicated I should expect a march op date. But, that's a long time to be out a job. But, I don't know about staying a new job and taking so much time off right away.
  23. Hang in there Beth! You are clearly a strong woman, you've come this far. Remember what the post-ops say that each day get a little easier (hey, that's you now - CONGRATS!). Keep us updated on how you're doing if and when ya can.
