  1. Well i guess me fear is how not being able to stop losing after I finally find a good size for myself

Your body will level off and find it's sweet spot. You may or may not like that spot. Time will tell.

I am your height and started at same weight. I got to normal BMI in 10 months but that wasn't my final goal. My body must've agreed because it wasn't hard to lose another 25-30 pounds

Today I am 145 pounds. My surgery was in August 2012

I wear a size 4. Perfect for me. A size 6 would be cool too

I never had boobs so not having any now is no biggie. Push-up bras are amazing

I used to have a big booty. Even when I was young and skinny, I was known as the girl with the big butt. Well that was the first to go this time. It's not FLAT but for those who knew me back in the day, it's different. I'm not mad thought. I have hips and curves still and look great in a bikini.

    You will too!

  2. Sleeved on 2/4. Peried like clock work. 3 weeks late but just got it today. Is there a coorilation between rapid weight lose and irregular periods?

Yes. WLS helps to release hormones and your regular period may no longer be. On the other hand, many obese women stopped getting regular periods or any period at all are suddenly finding themselves menstruating and fertile.

I was in day 5 or 6 in the day of my surgery. Went on to bleed for like 10 more days and it took a few months to become regular again

  3. Thanks CBT. for the most part I am Here's my 48 hour post-op update. Surgery went well. Started a lil late. I was wheeled into OR at 11. gave me something to relax at 11:06. Last I remember seeing on the clock was. 11:11:11. I woke up in recovery and boy do they rush you out of there. I was home by 4pm Pain isn't bad at all and if forced to, I could've come home without the oxycodone that was prescribed. There is no pain at my incisions. I have some pain at both hip bones ( was not a bit of fat there, can't even pinch the skin) ....I have 2 drains which are virtually painless. They do feel a lil funny when they are getting stripped Dr says I can shower today but I've decided against it. Sponge bedside baths until the drains come out. The right drain is hardly having any output. The left is getting less than 20 CCs every 8 hours. I'd advise anyone getting this or similar surgery to get that upper body strength up. You will use those chest and arm muscles a LOT, more than you can imagine. I, in an effort to stay hydrated before and after surgery, have been drinking massive amounts of fluids. That has led to hourly trips to the bathroom. This is where pain meds become your friend. Still not in pain but after up and down and twisting to get out of bed, my skin felt like I had rug burns. Last night I took. 2 pills at bedtime and the feeling wasn't as bad and I was able to go back to sleep easily. I work night shift so my body click is quite off. I'm gonna have hubby take pics today. He took pre-op pics already. I know I'm still pretty swollen...

I was 145.6 when I was naked on bathroom scale 2 days ago. Today 144.4 with drains and PJs on. I forgot to take waist measurements before. I'll check my records for January to see what they were then. Not much has changed with my body since then

  4. Well today's the day!!

For some reason I'm more nervous about this than the WLS.

We are in the middle of a snow storm. Schools are closed which gives me less to worry about. My kids will be safe indoors.

Surgery at 10... I'm supposed to be discharged by 3 barring any complications.

    Please send positive vibes!

  5. It's said that recovering addicts that have been clean for six months to two years by the hardest or newly recovering addicts. I suspect the saying is for newly recovering food addicts or former fatties.

If the OP didn't intend it to be, she should know her post(s) on this thread come across as superlative and judgemental. Such a shame since that tone cannot be felt as supportive for many who are slower losers and/or are struggling

  6. Exclusions totally suck! My daughter went through this with Aetna about a year ago. Open enrollment we switched to my husbands plan which is UHC anddddddd I've jumped on board to have VSG as well. Far less stringent then Aetna and I was approved within 3 days of submission to UHC for approval.

Aetna most certainly approved bariatric surgery. It's your employers contract that would cause the exclusion

  7. Vogue, good luck with your Panni on Monday! Im having a fleur de lis TT on Tuesday. I know what you mean about nervous. House was scrubbed clean this morning and Im cooking two dinners on the stove..and its only now just after 10am. :o

Thanks. I'm cooking extra food and putting in the freezer because my kids think extra food = food Fest for today.

Now the weather is calling for a storm on Monday and the hospital is 45 minutes away on a good day. If they close schools it'll be fine, I can leave much earlier and the kids will be home. If delayed opening I will be a worried wreck. May let them stay home regardless.

My surgery is at 10, I'm supposed to be at hospital by 8am. Surgery plus post-op is supposed to be. 4- 5 hours. I'll be home by dinner if all goes well

Gonna get my husband to take before pictures this evening.

  8. I was barely fitting into a 10M. 10w was too wide but medium was kinda tight

Just yesterday I purchased an 8 1/2 medium. most of those shoes I've purchased this winter were a 9 but I've needed 81/2 in a few.

I've given away over 100 pairs of size 10's. The shoewhore that I am have replaced about 40 pair so far. Can't wait to go shopping for sandals

  9. How long was the process post-op before Aetna approved your panniculectomy?

I saw the plastic surgeon for the first time in June 2013 which was 10 months post-op. He didn't submit to Aetna until November (15 months post-op) and my surgery was scheduled for December 2013... Took about a week to receive approval in the mail

Surgery was postponed because I ended up with an emergency hysterectomy in December...now scheduled for next Monday, March 17

  10. I would think that during your surgery they would put one on you. That is how I have always seen it done and that is the one you will use until he tells you not too. I would question a surgeon who couldn't be specific about what it is I need to wear after surgery.

He told me to bring one to hospital with me but wasn't specific on brand/ style. Basically said find one that works for me

  11. I started documenting rashes at the same time I was preparing for VSG surgery. I asked for prescriptions for the chafing.

Aetna approved me for panniculectomy quite easily. Wish I had documented inner thigh rashes as well because they denied that surgery for now. I started documenting that now so maybe I can get thigh surgery next year. This time next week I'll be in surgery for the panni

  12. I never went strictly by the rules and did fine. I exercise pretty consistently. I eat 1800-2000 calories a day. I try to hit 100 carbs every day but that merely by eyeballing as I don't track my food anymore. I am 145 pounds, size. 4.. 5'7.5". I have stayed within. 3 pounds of 145 for months.

I drink alcohol & have sweets though when I sense I'm overdoing it I scale back.

I drink over a gallon of Water every day

  13. I guess I'll start and keep this thread to monitor this portion of the new me journey.

My first question(s) relate to compression garment. Not getting a lot of help from

My Dr office. They have me vendors but no help on what kind of garment

I'm "only" getting the panni.... Do I need the whole panty like snap between the legs thing or will the abdominal binder be enough?

I weigh 145 pounds, size small (4) clothes so in guessing to get size small binder as well??
