  1. post-170380-0-84580100-1396268944_thumb.jpg

Selfie in my size 4 skinny jeans... Even with compression garment I needed a belt on.

I'm 2 weeks postop today. Still have swelling in the middle of my abdomen. It's weird looking to me. Like my top & bottom don't match. The pannus is flat. The top is not completely flat but then this spare tire like thing in the middle. It has gone down a lot in 2 weeks but it still is ugly IMO

my incisions looks great in some spots. Pretty horrific in others. 2 in particular look like the Dr may need to address them with a suture or 2 at a later date.

The holes where the drains were are now completely closed. I'm a take a bath more than take a shower person so that's good news for me.

I still ache in 2 spots. Right at my hip bones. Not sure what that's about since the incisions aren't right there. Maybe that's where they did the tugging and pulling.

    Gonna take undie pics shortly

  2. Twenty yrs ago I was 135 pounds and a size 8. Now I'm 145 and size 4.

However my weight is distributed differently now...I think muscle mass is pretty much the same due to current workouts.

But yeah besides vanity sizing everything is made with lycra or some kinda stretch material... Even jeans have it

  3. It may not be her fault. Firstly these things are either submitted via fax or email or via some electronic program. Maybe all of the pages didn't go thru.

I know I've faxed things to my insurance company several times and they claimed they never received it. I re- fax and I know all pages went and they claim they still haven't received it.

Have some patience and send whatever they ask via a system that gives a receipt confirmation

  4. So I purchased new jeans today.. DH used to make jokes about my mom jeans. Recently he saw my "before" jeans and commented how he can hardly remember me wearing them.

So I was excited for him to see my new skinny jeans. I turned around and asked did he like the way they fit.

He said he felt he was being set up. I used to want to know did I look fat now all I want to know is does my butt look flat

  5. You got it right. It's scattered belly swelling that isn't a seroma and only in the abdomen. The surgeon says at 12 weeks the previously cut lymphatic drain channels will have established and that's the first significant decrease in swelling patients notice. Some people's bodies are better at absorbing Fluid in other ways, too. Hence the "swelling for up to a year but mostly 3-6 months" chat we get.

Interesting. I suffered with lymphodema before VSG. it's been well under control since. I guess I now have something to keep watch for

  6. Made the mistake of running out the house w/o compression garment (emergency phone call came as I was in bathroom)

I darted out the house. 20 minutes later i I have a new respect for the compression garment. I'm home in bed hoping not to be separated from it again for a long time

    Still healing, still itching.

  7. Congrats!! I refuse to take morphine because of the hallucinations. But I doubt if the Oxy would be enough of a relief after the surgery you've had. Glad you're feeling better.

Do you still have drains?? I was so glad to get mine out yesterday.

How's the swelling? Have you looked at your incisions? I think the compression garment wu become more tolerable once you start healing more. My stitches were itching bad yesterday and I wanted to burn the garment. Today it isn't bad.

Hope things continue to get better for you

  8. Should I feel like a failure only losing 64 pounds including pre op diet in 7months?

Definitely not. 64 lost is better than 0 lost and even more better than 1 gained.

If you want to lose more and/ or faster then you need to reevaluate your diet, exercise and other habits. Write it all down, don't estimate.

  9. It's amazing how people change when you take charge of your own health and lose a bunch of weight.

Some of it is genuine concern. Some jealousy. Some folks are just busy bodies and need to have something to say and that's usually to keep the focus off themselves.

I'm tired of going to funerals for my people when they could've prevented death by eating better or losing weight. Diabetes & HBP runs rampant in the AA community. WLS will save more of our lives than gun control. A sad but realistic fact. So go on and cheat death. Lose that weight. Get active. Eat better. Get off those meds. Lose that insulin.

    I'm praying for you all

My highest weight was 282. I had surgery August 2012 squeezing into size 20/22

I weighed 142 pounds this morning. I wear a size 4. I'm running, bike riding, swimming, lifting weights and just living life

I gained a few wrinkles in my face because I lost fat there. I'd rather have a few wrinkles than be unhealthy.

  10. I drink 30 minutes before. I drink right until I take my first bite. But never during and sometimes 30 minutes after wasn't enough time. The first time your stomach reacts like a plunger and you upchuck, you won't be tempted again

Isopure makes a Protein drink that's more like Kool aid, not a shake. Comes in like 8 flavors. Admittedly it has an aftertaste unless ya doctor it up. I mix lemon in mine and pour over crushed ice and imagine it's a slurpee

I didn't do the purée stage. I stayed on liquid stage an extra week or. 2. No one says that in exactly one week you must do this or that. Do what ya need to get by. At that stage, getting fluids and Protein is most important Everything else is negotiable.

Forget about the popcorn for a LONGGGG while. Sick on a breath mint or something. Eat before you go and you'll be too full to snack

I don't drink coffee. Can't help ya there
