  1. I drink Protein post workout to help muscle repair ( the reason why you are hurting) and then I take a long hot bath with epsom salt ( usually add in a lil lavender oil too) ...helps the DOMS tremendously and the lavender makes me sleep like a baby you can find lavender induced epsom salt at the pharmacy or the plain type as well
  2. well I am having date night next weekend... my drink limit pre-op was 2...after that I got silly... I had one drink so far post-op...that was in early January... I was at the club for about 4 hours and it took that entire time to drink a few sips of it... it was too sweet ( Cosmo) and I kept letting my friend drink some so the ice could melt down.... if I get the one drink down next week, Im cool.... the 3 people I'll be with are HEAVY drinkers that I have never tried to keep up with before...no sense in trying now Im not anti-alcohol post-op.... I just know my limitations

  6. Great job...you are meltimng away
  7. it is VERY common to become lactose intolerant post-op I didnt do milk before surgery... since surgery Ive used coconut milk exclusively... ( I tried almond milk but it was too thick for my liking)
  8. echoing what they said...only regret is not doing it sooner

    Fab 40's shout out

only with a 3 month history of skin problems post- loss of major weight.... Ive been to my PCP once already and been prescribed cream... yesterday I noticed irritation where my butt & thighs meet.... same type I was getting at my waistline ( bumps/rash/redness).... Even if the insurance only pays for a panni, Im going to put the money up for the rest to get TT unless by some great miracle this apron leaves by July/August

get in your Protein any way you can....nasty tasting or not, suck it up...you didnt have surgery for nothing that said, your hair is NOT falling out due to lack of protein your hair would be falling out if you ate 200 grams of protein a day....losing hair is a unfortunate part of this process.....one a new growth cycle begins, your hair will grow back
  12. you are absolutely correct I misspoke/mistype due to sleep deprivation ( night shift)...

    Fab 40's shout out

I will be 44 in a few days, married with 5 kids.... was sleeved Aug 30, 2012...as of today down 82 pounds.... my very supportive husband is jokingly calling this my midlife crisis.... I am also planning a tummy tuck and just got insurance approval for invisalign braces. 40 is the new 30?? Im going for 27

    VO2 max test

interesting info... I may have to look into that instead of relying on online calculators.... I also want to get the body fat test where they submerge you in the pool
  15. I wouldnt call gaining & losing the same 3 pounds for 2 months a STALL.... that word gets thrown around too much... congrats on the loss none the less
  16. I eat oatmeal in the mornings before I work out... if not, I make a protein drink... I dont do supplements even though I do HEAVY WEIGHT LIFTING...I drink another protein drink later in the day...during my workouts ( as well as thru the day) I drink absurd amounts of water
  17. Aug 30- HW: 272 today 190 down 82 pounds.... from stuffing myself into size 20 when I needed to be in size 22/24... to fitting nicely in size 12... I have on a pair of size 14 jeans today and they are literally falling down because I have no belt on
  18. my initial approval was good for 6 months... if that time hasnt passed, you may not have to go thru the hassle again...if not, it may be just a matter of asking for extension of resubmitting same info.... I doubt if you'd have to do classes & psych stuff all over..maybe updated weight records... good luck

    Newbie in Maryland

I can only hope that the 6 month trend goes away... years ago people had to do up to a year of pre-surgery requisites.... now it averages at 6 months.... my insurer gave you a choice of 3 or 6 months... Im reading more & more about insurers with no waiting periods as long as you meet the criteria.... anyway, good luck to the OP.... the time FLIES.... I went for my first info Session just to get info about the surgery at the end of March 2012... was sleeved Aug 30, 2012...so today is my 6 month surgiversay... I cannot tell you HOW FAST TIME FLIES Post-op.... I remember thinking that the clock/calender didnt move between March & August last year.... now it seems like I was on the operating table a few days ago

    WEIGHT..MOTHER IN LAW ISSUES.

my ex-MIL gave me hell back in the day ( her son & I broke up 20 yrs ago) but I see her often..and she loves to throw in my face how tiny I used to be, especially in front of the ex's new wife.... I dont let it bother me.... I respond by telling her how her son kept me knocked up and my extra pounds are due to her grandchildren... shuts em all up every time

    No pre-op diet

I was taken aback and didnt get the humor either...still dont, lets just hope the OP sees this and doesnt leave....
  22. its from the anesthesia.... I was warned about it before surgery..... the more you move, the faster it will get better
  23. I did my measurements today since its unlikely I will lose inches by tomorrow..... I "only" lost 9 pounds this month....disappointing but expected because of the 24 potential workouts, I only did 10....the only cardio I got was swimming, the rest StrongLifts.....thats horrible considering Im supposed to be training for a triathlon... I started night shift the 1st of February and I just cannot adjust...my workouts ( and eating) have suffered.... I have one more month of this shift and I MUST do better... Despite, I lost some inches... minus 2 on both hips and waist...down another 1 at bust ( down to 34 B, I cant afford to lose anymore but I seem to lose here first)...one inch from both thigh and arm and 1/2" from calf... According to BMI I am overweight (29.0)... according to Body Fat, I am in "acceptable" range at 27.6... my waist to hip ratio is also in "low risk" range at 0.95 I was sleeved Aug 30, so I will consider tomorrow the last day of Feb as my surgiversary.... I am down 81 pounds from Pre-op weight... I did my 6 month post-op bloodwork last week.... Im low on Iron & Vit D... I was low pre-op but back up to normal levels at my 3 month post-op checkup... so back to taking those supplements...everything else was normal... I had cholesterol checked yesterday, total cholest was 149 ...HDL = 47.... Ratio 3.2 so all in all I feel kinda blah about it all.... did GOOD and I feel blessed but I could've done better
