  1. Two thin slices of mesquite turkey deli meat wrapped in a slice of reduced fat pepper jack cheese. YUM! Delicious lunch.
  2. Yep, or in my surgeon's words: Anything that you can chew to an applesauce consistency. It must be that consistency. If you can tell what you're eating, keep chewing! I'm eating scrambled/fried eggs, soft cheese slices and sticks, refried Beans, pureed chili, shaved deli meat, light yogurt and sugar free pudding, pureed shredded chicken with hot sauce, etc.
  3. Back at it like a champ! Best of luck on your surgery next week!

    Beginner

Hello and welcome! I had my surgery on Feb 26th, and it went smoothly. I was up and walking the hospital halls a few hours later and haven't looked back.

No, we don't. We keep our eyes on the prize and are excited for our future thin selves. It sounds like he was doing everything right. This clot just happened suddenly to him? God, that's so sad.

    First attempt at smoothie 3-16-13

Hmm, maybe try more yogurt. I used a cup of vanilla yogurt and a cup of soy/coconut milk in my smoothies pre-op, and no ice cubes. Instead, I cut the whole banana up into slices, put it in a ziploc, and froze it, then added it to the blender.
  7. Yes, I had some chicken fingers and fries on my 2 week pre-op diet, and no one noticed or cared. No one asked about my diet when I went in for my surgery, and the surgeon told my family it was a quick and easy surgery.

    Just starting

Hey welcome! I was sleeved on Feb. 26th, and feel great. Best of luck to you! Keep reading posts and learning during the anxious pre-surgery time.
  9. This is so tragic. One of our February Sleevers group, lifesaveremt, has passed away due to a blood clot. He had his surgery on Feb. 27th. I feel so sad for his friends and family. He probably went into the surgery like all of us, excited for our healthy futures. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/72941-rip-livesaveremt/

    RIP livesaveremt

So sad. Thank you for letting the community know.
  11. Yes it's me, lol! After I got sleeved, I wanted to do something drastic on the outside too - Goodbye foot and a half of hair! Have never had it this short before. And I got it dyed too.
  12. My bad. It's blackened tilapia and it looks delicious. We also got the salmon, in a different flavor. So: Breakfast: 1 egg scrambled with a pinch of shredded fiesta cheese Lunch: 1 reduced fat Colby Jack cheesestick, 2 tbsp SF pudding Snack: Protein shake (skim milk + unjury vanilla = not very excited Firelle) Supper: Up to 3oz tilapia, ? Late night snack: Giant bowl of cookie dough ice cream (just kidding) I'm still loving how NOT hungry I am!!!!!! I saw in the Kraft Food&Family magazine that there are new flavors of string cheese sticks: pizza, Tomato Basil, BBQ, and Cracked Black Pepper. Anyone tried these yet? I want to pick up the Pizza and Tomato Basil!
  13. I picked up some Jim Beam Blackened Salmon from the frozen fish section at Walmart that I'm excited to try. Breakfast today was one egg scrambled with a bit of cheese. Delicious, took me nearly half an hour to eat it, and I'm stuffed. Love this!
  14. Oh man! I feel bad for you, Sara! But also - you've lost a TON so far!!! Way to go!
  15. Had my two week post-op followup. By their scale, I'm down 27lbs in the past month (we didn't have a liquid only pre-op diet, just small tv dinner size portions under 400 cal, which I think I lost 12 of those pounds on). I'm thrilled! He advanced my diet to the next stage of soft/puree. He said for the next month, I can eat anything, but it absolutely has to be applesauce consistency. My husband took me to Bob Evans, where he ordered the all you can eat chocolate chip pancakes, 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs, and hash browns loaded with cheese, bacon, chives, and sour cream. I ordered one fried egg, one turkey sausage, and it came with home fries and cherry bread. He ate the cherry bread and home fries. I slowly ate half my egg and 2 bites of the sausage, chewed to the applesauce consistency. Stuffed. I feel like I either ate too much or ate too quickly. It was delicious, but on my last bite I got a tiny pain tingle in my chest, and then felt like food is all the way up to my throat. I wish I could tell to stop before that point. 16. I saw a woman who is looking to get a revision to bypass or DS because she lost 140lbs with the sleeve, then gained back 125 of those pounds. How does that happen? Sent from my EVO using VST

    I hate to admit it

I was able to have thinned Cream of Wheat from day 3 on. I make it with water, but add extra milk to it to make it runny. This was on my list of allowed Full Liquids. It's a better choice than having your blood sugar bottom out!

4 weeks post op and depressed.

That's pretty crappy. Weight lost is weight lost, right? And everyone loses at different rates, especially when their body is still recovering. You don't need to feel anxious and nervous about "doing it right" and meeting some statistical chart. This is a huge change for both you and your insides, and you're only 4 weeks out. You'll probably lose faster in some months than others, and slower in some months, anyway. It sounds like he just berated you for following the plan, and didn't offer any constructive help. That being said, I think it's definitely in your best interests to continue your follow-up care. You should have the right to request an appointment with your surgeon or the RN, and tell them that you're not comfortable meeting with the PA anymore.
  19. I switched surgeons after completing the psych eval and 6 months of NUT visits. There was no difficulty, and insurance approved me just fine, even though half my paperwork was from another office. Edit: Neither office had a program fee. What's the point of that? You have to pay copays and deductible anyway. I received a binder full of information, Protein drink samples, counseling with fitness person, etc. It's part of the program.
  20. I'm so looking forward to moving to the next phase! My 2 week post-op appt is on Wed, and I'm sure the surgeon will give me the go-ahead then for soft/pureed. However, I "cheated" and had one slice of chipotle gouda cheese today and yesterday. Man, is it good. I eat it very slowly, like a treat, and chew so well that I hardly have anything to swallow. I don't feel guilty. 4My2Boys - How is jerky on the stomach? We have a local jerky maker here who makes amazing hot jerky, and I miss it. I assume you have to chew a LOT?
  21. I think I'm losing all my weight in my ass, because it sure hurts after sitting on the couch for awhile. What the heck! Maybe I pulled a muscle.
  22. We're going grocery shopping today, and my husband wants to take us (our 3 year old and me) out for lunch. I'm still on full liquids and have no idea where we'd go or what I'd eat. He relented and said we could just eat at home.
  23. Weird! I guess it's just me, lol. I will continue to highlight your posts to read em, hehe.
  24. Lexsan, for some reason your posts are invisible and I have to highlight them to read them. Do you have your font color set to white?
