Excellent work, everyone! -
Old habits really do die hard
Mrs Havelock replied to sarahgirrl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You're human, life is short. Enjoy a bite of less-healthy food, then get back to a majority healthy diet. Don't allow yourself to get into the guilt/punishment/soothing trap. Focus on your goals and enjoy life ???? -

When do you get more energy?
Mrs Havelock replied to slocin12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't say I have any more energy now than 179lbs ago, but that could be down to my depression or not taking my Vitamins daily. I have got more stamina now, but I certainly don't bound around the place! You're only 7 weeks out from a major operation and your calorie intake will be low. Take it easy and stay hydrated. -
Who has not reached there goal after one year
Mrs Havelock replied to fran2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weight loss in a year: 179lbs, with 39lbs to go until goal. Shouldn't take another year to lose those. Side effects: Very few, really. No heartburn after the first week post-op (still not taking PPIs either) Can eat/drink just about anything in varying amounts. Loose skin is easily tucked out of sight. Fatigue happens more often now, and my hypoglycaemic-induced migraines became more frequent until I started taking medication for them. Lots of hair loss, buts it's thickening back up now. Other than that, all is well. It was a good decision to have the sleeve -
A poor analogy, since the human body isn't a sealed system. I'm a year out, 179lbs down, enjoy an occasional diet coke and have the same restriction as ever.

Anybody catch a cold post op?!
Mrs Havelock replied to mrslosing2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You would have been intubated whilst under the anaesthetic, which can leave your throat feeling sore. If it doesn't clear up after a few more days, then yes, it's a cold. -
Er, pass!

Firstly, follow your doctor's orders. Secondly, follow what your body says, and thirdly (if at all) follow what someone on the internet advises.

Cheesy mashed potatoes were on my plan in the first week. Only a small amount, but extremely yummy!

Do you take PPI for life?
Mrs Havelock replied to alwaysonadiet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took them for only two weeks post-op. None since (almost a year) and have had no problems at all with acid. Everyone's different. -
Prevent/treat saggy skin after surgery?
Mrs Havelock replied to Curvy_Goddess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before surgery I found the worst picture of loose skin I could find, showed it to my husband and asked him if he would still fancy me if I looked like that. He said 'Yes, because it's you I fancy.' What a guy! I'm 175+ lbs down, flappy as anything and he can't get enough of me. -

Mrs Havelock replied to hopeful2 be slim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have multiple cups of tea with skimmed milk daily. I'm British, it's mandatory. -

Do you still have your gallbladder? -
It could be orthostatic hypotension. I'm experiencing this 9 months post-op. If I get quickly out of bed I can go head first into the wall! Be careful x

2. I went under wearing paper knickers (sexy!) and awoke sans said item. My husband joked the surgeon probably has a collection on his office wall. Way to make a girl paranoid!
