October 23rd here

My surgeon charged $250 at the first appointment and then another $250 at the next appointment. It was to cover the information seminar, and all the things insurance wouldn't cover since this isn't a mandatory surgery. It's really up to each office to charge what they want, but it wouldn't hurt to check with insurance

Hi, my name is Keshia and I am from Somerset! I go for my pre op appointment on sept 24th with Dr. Weiss. I am so excited and ready for this surgery! Congrats to all of you!

It was like a month before they call me.
I'm getting nervous cause my insurance covers everything 90 days before an 90 days after my surgery and I only have until September 26th to have surgery or else my EGD won't be covered 100%.... I hope they realize this

Anyone remember how long it was from the time they got your approval letter to the time the pre op nurse called to set up your final appt with Weiss? Tomorrow will make two weeks since they received mine

Don't beat yourself up over it, lots of people do the same thing during the supervised diet. I gained about 10 lbs while on mine but lost it by my last weigh in. The insurance coordinator said as long as I was at or below my starting weight I would be fine. My last month I lost 10 lbs putting me below my starting weight and insurance approved me. It's hard to diet before you have a surgery like this especially since you have to change your lifestyle after surgery. Just try your best and make your last two months count. You will do great!!

I am still pre op but have been dealing with Hair loss recently...possibly due to stress or the depression medicine I am on but I just bought some Nioxin to try and stimulate growth or at least stop the loss especially since I am going to lose some after surgery. I've only used it a few times so far but I do like it. I am not sure if it works or not but so far I am happy with how It makes my hair feel. I got the level 5 because I haven't had any color on recently. I bought it from Amazon, the whole system which is 1 liter bottles of Shampoo and conditioner and the scalp treatment for $60...not cheap but cheaper than I had found it elsewhere

i am in the beginning stages of looking for what type of surgery would be more beneficial to me. I like the sleeve because its not as drastic as the bypass. I have bcbs of al' date=' but when i researched they said they do not cover the sleeve procedure. I was wandering what had to be done to get approved for GVS?[/quote']Hmmm... On my policy, it shows the sleeve as an option for surgery. All I had to do was complete the requirements for approval. If I were you, I would call customer service and ask them. Before I got started in the process, I confirmed coverage with them and got the rules down so I could find a surgeon. I have 100% coverage in a center for excellence. Hope this helps and good luck

I have another question... My approval letter came and the insurance coordinator has received it and is turning everything over to the pre op nurse. Do you all remember how long it was before she contacted you to schedule your meet with the surgeon? I'm hoping she calls this week. And also how far out did she schedule your appointment ? Was it pretty quick? Thanks

Wow! Congratulations!!! Where in Alabama? I'll be having my surgery in Dothan if all goes as planned. Best of luck to you..I'm actually in KY... The employer chose bcbs of al lol.. I'm not really sure why. Sorry for the confusion. But I will be having my surgery in Lexington, Ky. with Dr. Weiss

And to add insult to injury' date=' she continued to say she saw another lady that told her she was 4 months pregnant. But she couldn't even tell because she was so fit. Lol ummmm so not the right thing to say at that moment.[/quote']Definitely not the right thing to say! Lol

I am still pre-op but my nutritionist told me that everything I drink counts as liquid intake at first so my Protein Shakes should count towards my Water intake as well as broth and stuff. I am thinking of trying Unjury unflavored, has anyone tried it? I am planning on adding it into my water, Soup and just about everything I can.
