  1. I never even knew this app existed prior to today, but I'm so glad I came across it. My sleeve was performed on 11/23/2011 in which I was 230. Year to date, I weigh 175. I'm starting wonder if I've stretched my pouch because I feel like I should be a little smaller like maybe 155lbs. I did some research on the sleeve to find that the procedure itself only guarantees patients will loose about 55 to 60% of their excess fat. However, one of my former coworkers said her Dr told her she could loose as much weight as she wants. Although I honestly don't know how true that is. After reading about the success of others, I'm starting to feel like a failure. I'm sure of what to do at this point.

I can relate, sounds like me!

  2. I had my surgery on January 23' date=' 2013. Since then, I've lost 119 pounds and I have 30 to go to reach my goal. I am 5 feet tall. My highest weight was 274. My weight now is 155. Before, I wore a size 24/26 jeans, now I'm in a 13/14. I used to wear size 3X shirts and now I wear Medium. Before, I was miserable. Now I feel great! I love my sleeve.

I do have a lot of saggy skin though. I'm hoping it will tighten up at some point. I do exercise a lot so I hope that helps. You can't really see the saggy skin in this pic but if you look closely at my thighs you can see it a little. You can REALLY see it from the front. I don't like it at all, but maybe someday I can get it fixed if it doesn't tighten up. My boobs are very very sad. I'm wearing a good supportive bra in this pic...but my boobs are just...bad. I'm definitely getting them fixed if at all possible!

Something that I think is interesting is that in the before pic, my thigh is 2 inches bigger than my waist is in the "now" pic! Seems so unreal!

    Good job!

  3. The original recipe page does not load for me' date=' so I had to use Google cache to get the recipe off Rachael's site.

Watch the video, use this link:

    Rocco DiSpirito's Pasta al Pomodoro

    Aired on: April 1, 2013

    Before:

    17 grams of fat

    840 calories

    After:

    6 grams of fat

    133 calories

    Ingredients

    [*]3/4 cup cold Water

    [*]2 tablespoons egg powder

[*]6 ounces cold chicken breast, cut into 1 inch chunks

[*]1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

    [*]7 cloves garlic, sliced thin

[*]1 pinch red chili flakes (pepperoncino)

[*]2 cups whole fresh ready to burst ripe tomatoes, cut into large dice

[*]Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

    [*]1 ounce Parmigiano-Reggiano, freshly grated

[*]16 leaves of fresh basil, torn by hand into small pieces

    Yields: 4

    Preparation

Boil 4 quarts of Water in a large pot. Once the water is boiling add 2 tablespoons of salt. Preheat broiler. Place the water and the egg white powder in the beaker of a blender, and blend on low speed until all the powder has dissolved, then add the chicken breast and blend on high speed until smooth and glossy. Place the contents of the blender into a squeeze bottle and set in the refrigerator.

Pour the olive oil into a large nonstick sauté pan and then lay out the garlic slices in one even layer over the top of the pan. Place the pan over medium to high heat and cook the garlic until it begins to brown, then move the pan to the middle rack of the oven under the broiler to continue to brown the top of the garlic, about 1 minute. Place the pan back on the stove and add red chili flakes and half the basil leaves, cook for 15 seconds and then add the tomatoes. Cook the tomatoes over medium heat until the sauce comes to a simmer and let cook until the sauce has slightly thickened but still loose, about 2 minutes. Add half of the cheese and stir it completely into the sauce and turn off the stove and season lightly with salt and fresh ground black pepper.

Turn the boiling water down to low heat and squeeze the chicken mixture out of the squeeze bottle in a steady stream into the boiling water into strands the same length as spaghetti, about 10 inches until there is no more room on the surface of the water. Let the noodles cook for 30 seconds then remove them with a strainer or spider, set them aside in a bowl and repeat until all of the chicken mixture is used.

Add the noodles to the pan and turn the heat to medium high heat. Toss the Pasta to coat evenly with a heat resistant rubber spatula and cook until the sauce begins to cling to the noodles. Add the remaining basil and check seasoning. Plate the pasta on four separate plates and sprinkle with remaining cheese.< /p>

Tip: Use a store-bought, fat free, no added sugar marinara sauce and you can make this meal in less then 10 minutes.

  4. I'm 6 weeks and 2 days out. Started working out 3 weeks ago when I finally felt like myself' date=' and as of this morning...199!!!!!!! I have not been in the 100's since my 1st child's first year of infancy (and she's 10 1/2)! Super excited and happy :D[/quote']

Congratulations, doesn't it feel great? Yay!

  5. So' date=' I just thought I'd update my status on this thread. I reached goal yesterday. It took 2 years and 23 days, but I finally hit 225 pounds lost. I started at 375 and now weigh 150. Slow? I guess that depends on how you look at it. I didn't lose it all in a year and I didn't stop when it got hard, but I did it.

    Congratulations! You look great!

  6. Yes' date=' I had the VSG on 10/31/12, and have lost 92 lbs so far. I don't think the knee replacements made the weight loss easier, but I am able to enjoy exercise and increased mobility much, much more. I think it is great to get the VSG surgery first, but if you are having lots of knee pain, no way should you wait until you are 65 to get them replaced. I can't even imagine that! When you are ready, I would consult with a different orthopedic surgeon.

My new knees do function a little differently, but it is worth it to me. I don't like to get on my knees for any reason now, but I can find alternate ways to get things done. The freedom from pain and increased mobility mean the world to me. Feel free to PM with any questions![/quote']

I've had both knees done, and I can not get on my knees at all, but like you, I can find other ways!and or my husband can help me! Knees done 10/10 - vsg -12/12

  7. Tomorrow is my official one year anniversary. This time last year I was so scared and excited about the surgery that was to happen the next morning. I remember the 1 hour drive to the hospital. I was so sick' date=' miserable, and huge at that time and I knew I had to do this to get my life back. I knew that when I went through the surgery room doors, there would be no turning back.

When I awoke, I had pain and thought to myself "what in the world have I done". I was so thirsty and had so much stuff hooked to me. I had a pain pump catheter that was dispensing pain meds straight to my new tummy. By the afternoon, I was walking around and the next morning, I was ready to come home. I was suppose to stay one more day but I wanted to leave and so I did. When I got home... OH my goodness, I was in such pain!! Once I got my meds, I was fine though.

Recovery went slow for me but I didn't have any major complications. Thank the good Lord! I would do it again and I'm so glad that God helped me through this and I had faith to just trust Him.

As of today, I am down 120 pounds and am 20 pounds from goal. I started at a size 24/26 and am now a 10/12. The jeans I have on in the pic are 10's but they are so tight!! LOL

To all the new people that are thinking about having the sleeve. Just know that it is all worth it but it isn't easy. At least for me it wasn't. Now I'm working on the last 20 pounds and it is so hard to get the scale to move. I know that I will make it though. It may take 6 more months, but it will happen.

I'm so grateful for this forum. Thanks to all of you that always post wonderful compliments on my post!! It has been a great journey and I'm so thankful! :)

    Congratulations! You look great!

  8. The past year has FLOWN by very quickly' date=' and here I am, ready to post some surgiversary pics and stats. It seems amazing how quickly the time (and pounds) have flown by.

I won't say it hasn't had some moments of difficulty, frustration and struggle. They have been FAR outweighed (HA!) by fun, excitement, joy, a sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that THIS is my new, healthy life.

Getting the VSG was the best decision of my life. I would do it again 1000x.

I've attached some pictures of me pre-op (with my surgeon, Dr. Ramos Kelly!) and a few days post-op (in Mexico).

And some more pictures of me now (loving life, sports and still a work in progress).

And finally, a shot of my measurement changes to date (-86.25 inches!) in a year.

Just another 47 lbs to goal.........

And........I'm completely off my asthma meds (used to be 3 puffers and 2 oral meds), even when I'm exercising HARD. A miracle.....since I've been using asthma meds continuously since age 12 (now 43). I can't tell you what a difference it is to be able to breath, all the time![/quote']

All I can say is WOW! You look great!

  9. I was sleeved on 12/27/12' date=' I am a little over 4 mo post op. I have lost 63 lbs, I am thrilled!!!! However, I am at the inevitable stall. I have read the forums and I know this too shall pass, BUT my concern is - I am scared of food. As time passes I can eat more than I could 2 months ago or even last month. Now, logic tells me that is good, that's how this should work- and I am not eating anywhere NEAR what I used too. 2 more bites is not a lot, but I guess there is this other side of me that thinks uh-oh... 2 more bites today, 4 more tmrw, a whole serving next week. I am scared I will gain or just perma-stall and maintain. This week I have gone back to Protein shakes and Protein focus- which has always been there, but being more regimented about it. So, I guess my question is - did y'all experience this fear of food? This fear that you will over eat again? Like an alcoholic, one drink leads to chaos. I fear that will be me with food. Again, logic tells me that will not happen- we physically cannot fit that much food in there! But still...any feedback appreciated. :-)[/quote']

I know what you mean, me too! Mine was done 12/21/12, I'm down 44, so your doing better than I, lets pray that never happens again! We have to keep our eye on the prize! :)

  10. I also use myfitnesspal and a fitbit. I love the combo.

The great thing about my myfitnesspal phone app is that i can scan bar codes and it adds them to my food diary in about 2 seconds.

    Fun' date=' convenient and motivating.[/quote']

I don't have fit it , but want one, I downloaded an irunner app! Digifit, that syncs up to fitness pal and logs it automatically, I love technology! But love loosing weight, I actually fit into a size 16 today, that's enough to lift your spirits!

  11. Can't believe I am already 6 months post op! While I will never forget where I started' date=' it is starting to be a distant memory and my new life is better than I ever could have imagined!!

The struggles in the beginning were worth it, after all who wouldn't have struggles when you do something like we have done. I just try and take it one day at a time, we all have our good days and bad, but you can't let one bad day overtake all the progress that has been made!

    Loving my sleeve still![/quote']

    Fantastic!

  12. I always enjoy before and afters. Here are mine!

I lost 200 lbs in about 11 months. I started in 24's and 3/4 X shirts. My BMI was 53 and is now 22. I now wear 2/4 pants and med/large shirts. I am 5'7. I had an apple shape before and now I am still an apple...just smaller! So jealous of the hour glass folks.

I ate about 600 calories a day/ less than 20 carbs/more than 64 oz fluid/more than 60 Protein. I truly believe' date=' for me anyhow, the key is low carbs. I weigh, track, log every bite of food on MFP (hollirrose). I had a handful of times that I ate off plan but never for more than a meal or day.

I don't work out that often. I walk some but not consistently. Overall I am more active.

I get the most private messages about skin. I have it. My arms are awful, my upper thighs sag, my tummy will never be flat. For the most part..I think I look normal in clothes. It all tucks in pretty nicley and if I wear shapewear..I almost look skinny. Naked, I look a little like an emancipated shar pie! :)

    [/quote']

That is amazing! You look awesome! That sure is encouraging to those of us behind you! Thank you for your tips too!
