  1. Who judged you??? This is why I don't post much here. Way to many sensitive people that cry and whine whenever someone says anything. good luck with your journey....
  2. 7 months out, 127 lbs down and you haven't even tried jello yet??? What have you been eating? The hospital was shoving that in my face 24 hours after surgery. In now down 167 lbs in 6 1/2 months and have tried everything under the sun. I have become a firm believer that you can eat ANYTHING as long as its in very careful moderation. I just had a small handful of M & M's and I bet I still lose a half to full pound by the time I weigh myself In the morning. Losen up a bit, it will help you succeed in the long run.
  3. Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I have vowed to keep this thread going because if it helps or inspires even one person it has accomplished its mission.
  4. I just wanted to drop a quick note here for those that have been following my progress. It was six months ago today (11/23/12) that I started this amazing journey. Since that day I have gone from 445 lbs to 285 lbs, for a total of 160 lbs lost! My BMI has gone down 20 points from 55 to 35 and my jean size from 54 inches to 38 inches! Life has been absolutely amazing. As a reward, something that I had planned to do once I hit 150 lbs lost but NEVER thought it would have been this fast, I went on vacation to New York City, something that I have always wanted to do. Thank goodness I was in the shape that I am in now because I walked several miles per day all over the city for four days and was still exhausted afterwards! I would have been dead or in the hospital if the old me had tried to do that! Well, once again, if you are considering the sleeve, just do it, it will save your life!
  5. Thanks everybody. As I said, VSG surgery has saved my life and absolutely changed it for the better.
  6. See this thread: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/63473-new-guy-here-youve-got-to-read-this/page__st__200
  7. Well, today was the day that I hit 150 lbs lost! (445 lbs to 295 lbs) It has been a total of 5 1/2 months since I started my liquid diet (11/23/2012), 4 1/2 months since I was sleeved (12/23/2012). I went to my PCP this past Thursday and he did a full work up on me. He told me I am amazingly healthy. My Hemoglobin A1C went from 6.4 at my highest (I was on Metformin) to 4.2. My cholesterol went from about 200 to 146, and my blood pressure went from 150/100 to 120/74 (I used to be on Lisinopryl). All of my vitamin levels (B12, calcium, vitamin D, etc.) are absolutely perfect. My pant size went from 52-54 to 40 and my shirts from 5XLT to 3XL. I feel like I can run a marathon every single day, my energy level is literally off the charts. I can absolutely say that getting the sleeve has not only saved my life, but has made me happier then I think I have EVER boon. I'm not kidding, this is the BEST thing that I have EVER done. There's not much more I could say that I already haven't said, but again, for those looking into getting the sleeve and are on the fence, just do it already. Stop wasting good years of your life.
  8. This site has jumped the shark.
  9. I am lucky because although I love carbs, I didn't have crazy cravings for them. I am a carnivore first and foremost, meat is my weakness. I have not had any bread, pasta, etc., since November 23rd, and I'm pretty close to being completely over it by now. The meat is another story, but since meat is great protein I eat mostly chicken, turkey, & pork, in very small moderation.
  10. No, BFL, I used my Weber gas grill outside in my driveway. I used to use that thing at least twice a week pre VSG days! I would be out there cooking a 24 Oz Ribeye steak drinking a Margarita (my true source of weight gain) when it was 10 below zero here in Chicago. I'm NOT kidding.
  11. Like the new catch phrase goes: it gets better BFL. Between my liquid pre op diet and the first week after surgery on liquids only I did 35 days straight of absolutely not one single bite of solid food! (try THAT with a food addiction!) I remember my first bite after those 35 days was some low fat cottage cheese. I seriously don't think I ever tasted anything as good in my entire life. Now I can eat ANYTHING I want but choose to eat only the healthiest of foods. I don't want to waste even one day of potential weight loss by "cheating." I'm that determined.
  12. In the spirit of a more light hearted approach to this thread, Laura bringing up food is gonna make me post this photo of the boneless skinless marinated chicken breast I was literally cooking as I was typing on my phone in this thread. Here it is right off my barbecue grill. (it's like 50 degrees in Chicago right now). I am cooking right now because I will have no time to do it tomorrow with the holiday and all. I make this and cut it up and eat it cold over the week. Just to illustrate my discipline, I cut a tiny piece off and ate it, but that's it. It's to late to eat anymore today!
  13. You're right. Fine, screw it.
  14. I am not "resentful" that a relatively thin woman is getting VSG surgery. I am sad for her because she has gone to DRASTIC lengths to stay thin/get thinner. She hasn't a frickin clue what she's in for. I also wouldn't even buy a drink in Mexico let alone have someone cut me open and remove part of my body there for a measly $5700. You'd have to be flippin nuts to do that, BUT that's just me, I know a lot of people here have had VSG in Mexico and been happy and successful as a result. However, I can remember my first few days after VSG and it was not the most comfortable. Could you frickin imagine taking a plane flight ACROSS THE DAMN GLOBE after having VSG???? Seriously post op'ers, think about that for a second. Also kiss your favorite junk foods goodbye, that ain't gonna happen anymore. A soda? Forget it. Oh, your mates want to go out and have a drink to celebrate something? Nope, NO alcohol if you want to continue losing or want to maintain that goal weight. I'd also be damned if I was going to do this surgery because some ****** bag on a plane or wherever made a comment about my weight. And this one: "I'm sick of people making comments and children laughing at me when I come out in my bathing suit to watch them in the pool." Man oh man, you seriously need some therapy because you have some serious paranoia and self esteem issues as well.
  15. Amanda Rae, these people from NZ are really friggin rude. I'm not so sure though if its because they're from New Zeland or If It's because they are thin and we are/were fat. Read back to the beginning of this thread when they were personally attacking me. The type of things they said to me were the type of insults that thin people throw at fat people. That's because these people are thin and want to be REALLY thin via VSG surgery. A person who was heavy in their life, even for a short time, would NEVER say those things to a person who is heavy because they know how they must feel. Being fat is hard. When I reach goal I will always know the struggles of people with serious weight issues.
  16. I'm done, but I disagree with you Amanda Rae, something HAS been accomplished. There's a 30 BMI'er reading this that is having second thoughts if they ate a rational minded person.
  17. I am done with Rollagirl, she can't be helped by me or anyone on this site. For the rest of the readers here, and there are MANY, if you have a 30 BMI and are considering surgery please read this next couple of sentences. I know people are their own worst critics so it's hard to see yourself from the outside, so look at me. Attached again, is a photo of me at age 19 at a 27.5 BMI. Imagine this guy with 20 more pounds which would have put him at a 30 BMI. Does he look like he needs gastric sleeve surgery?
  18. *Sigh* I tried Rollagirl. I wish you the best.
  19. Not true Anniemay, maybe Rollagirl will think before she alters her body for the REST OF HER LIFE. Ok, she gets sleeved and reaches goal weight in 2-3 months. She's only 35 years old, then what?
  20. Rollagirl, I don't know what your intellect level is but you need to READ what people are writing. You keep saying that I and a couple others here are on you about your weight. YES WE ARE!!! But not for the reason your mind is calculating it as, we are saying that you are to THIN to get sleeved!!! Read that again....YOU ARE TO THIN TO GET SLEEVED. Also, you are spending valuable time on a website filled with people that have serious weight problems with BMI's that are 40-70, or even higher. These people have tried everything and some are near death. You were obviously smart enough to recognize that you have a problem. You want to do something about it right? How much weight do you want to lose, 30-40 lbs? Then deal with the issues in your mind and go do it! Hell, 30-40 lbs is nothing compared to some of the weight numbers that people here, including myself need to lose. You are better then me because you realized that you had a problem when you hit a BMI of 30, I didn't realize it until my BMI was over 50! Do you think that this surgery is going to cure whatever you have going on in your head? I am here to tell you it's NOT. Over come that FIRST then consider surgery AFTER. But I think you won't need surgery if you fix what's going on in your head first.
  21. the people that are giving rollagirl support are being disingenuous. They are NOT helping her, they are just trying to make themselves feel better about their own decision to get sleeved at a 30BMI or are just lying to her. Based on what she has written here, in simple terms she wants to get sleeved for "preventative maintenance." She is "planning" to gain 5 BMI points by the end of the year. Good grief....
  22. You ARE doing something wrong!!! Jesus H., this thread is a train wreck and it gets worse every time you post!! You want to wait till you get to a 35 BMI in a year????? Holy moly, you SERIOUSLY need psychiatric help. The sad thing is that you are SHOUTING out for help in your actions and no one seems to be listening in your world. Maybe it's because you're to defensive and nasty when someone questions your hair brained ideas.
