  1. The gas gets into your GI tract when they open your stomach first to remove the portion they are cutting out before stapling
  2. Earplugs! Several pair just in case you lose one like I did! It was a Godsend!! Also bring along an eye mask because they just come into your room and switch on the light without earning and it blinds you when you are sleeping. And of course..... A fluffy favorite bed pillow in a colored pillowcase so you don't forget to bring it home. That was a lifesaver and everyone commented what a good idea that was. My roomy was jealous! Hospital pillows are awful!!!!
  3. Glad to hear you are on the mend. It's easier every day! I came home today....love my bed. Try a heading pad. It works great for gas pains. And deep breathe.
  4. And deep breathe! In thru the nose out thru the mouth slow and easy!!
  5. Walk and heating pad
  6. Hooray! We are bonded for life!
  7. Ok jay! I'm Marcy!! ????
  8. I'm the same way except I never vomited although the morphine did make me nauseated. Once I stopped that I felt better. I'm drinking my first protein shake at home now but it's taking a long time to get it down. Just a lot of burping. Gosh my bed sure feels good!!!
  9. You will do great poetikjay. It's not all that bad. And it's amazing how much better you feel in such a short time. My son swears I look skinnier already. I'm praying for you sweetie!!
  10. I'm heading home from hospital now. Since we had a two hour drive we stopped half way to walk a bit. Don't want any complications with clots or gas. :-). Can't wait to sleep in my own bed!!!!
  11. Yes they told me everything. If you don't want something tell them not to give it to you and doc can order something in its place.
  12. Way to go! And a super nice husband too! Bonus!!! Congrats!!!!
  13. Good luck Douglas and prayers for a speedy and easy recovery.
  14. They gave me Lortab (liquid vicodan). It works just fine. Oh I did use the pump the first 24 hours and they loaded me up with reglan and zofran for nausea but I felt better off the pump after the first 24 hours. I had no problems with pain control.
  15. Yep! The pump made me nauseated. Once they unhooked it I was just fine.
  16. Darn tootin we are sleeve sisters. Good thing I'm still in hospital cuz my low grade fever turns out to be a UTI..... Augh where's the cranberry juice when I need it?

  22. I'm feeling pretty good. I just told my hubby about a coach purse too. He laughed! Huh!! Imagine that!!!! You're funny poetikjay!!!
  23. Wow you sound a lot like me. I have been wanting this for so long and I am replying to you from my hospital bed right now. I finally did it. I'm a nurse and I know way too much then I should which made it worse for me. It isn't that bad after all although I do have my ups and downs emotionally too. But I'm ready to be happy and healthy. Right now I don't feel so healthy but with each passing hour I get a little stronger. I am having a little difficulty getting the fluids in but that's getting better each day too. I say go for it!!! It's your body and you know what you need to do to be happy again. You will be fine. This forum is amazing. I even had a friend who I met on this forum come visit me last night here in the hospital. It's no picnic but then again, neither is being obese so that's my opinion. Good luck to you and let us know how you're doing.
