Yep I like the tropical sugar free Popsicles too!!
  2. Darn I'm 8 days post op and can still only have clear liquids and protein drinks. I am so ready for tomato soup. And I "used to" love jello but now since my surgery....yucky!!!

    Pre op

That's doesn't sound like a prepping diet to me . I was on clear liquids and three protein shakes a day for two weeks prior to my surgery. But I stick it out and my doc said my liver shrunk 4-5 cm and he was very pleased with that. Only the first 4 days were hard and after that a walk on the park. I have heard of surgeries being cancelled and rescheduled because people were eating too much or the wrong things pre op. you can do this!!! Stay strong!!

You will do great tomorrow!! I had no complications and I'm 8 days out and thrilled already. Stay positive and focus on the prize. You will do wonderfully! I'm praying for you! The very worst part of the whole process is the emotional side and worrying. The rest becomes just a blur after a few days. Focus and you will be fine. We are all here for you!!
  6. Wow wow wow...you could be a male model and give David Beckham a run for his money. You are very handsome indeed!!
  7. DivaNurse.....you rock!! I have lost 23 yes folks 23 lbs on 3 weeks time!!!! OMG!!!!! I went back to work today 1 week post op and lasted 4 hours!!! Maybe I'm trying to hard to get back to normal but let me say I have gone from size 22 dress pant to size 18 today and I'm loving it!!!! I have to honestly say that even though I have a physically easy job take two weeks off because the energy isn't back yet!! I love you guys!!!! I couldn't do this without you!!!!
  8. you wear shoes especially in the grass and stay away from fire ant hills and never ever walk in sandals through a field. Its gonna hurt!!! I'm allergic to them so I have a bad reaction. Our yard is sprayed regularly so I can run in my yard with out shoes but I wouldn't dream of going into the untreated yards or vacant lots near my house. No Way!!!!

    Bowels

I had no problems with going since surgery but I do drink warm tea a couple times a day and it seems to keep me regular. On the safe side ask your doc or NUT. They are there to help you. Good luck. Being bound up is no fun. I'm 6 days post op and I just think our inerds are trying to figure out what the heck just happened. ????????

Thank God for Gas X strips too! If I feel bloated or just full of air behind my sternum it helps within minutes. Take them along with you wherever you go! I like the mint ones the best
  15. And don't forget ear plugs!!!! I had a semi private room and my roomy was always hot so I would have froze if it wasn't for my 5 blankets and warm footies.
  16. Earplugs! Several pair just in case you lose one like I did! It was a Godsend!! Also bring along an eye mask because they just come into your room and switch on the light without earning and it blinds you when you are sleeping. And of course..... A fluffy favorite bed pillow in a colored pillowcase so you don't forget to bring it home. That was a lifesaver and everyone commented what a good idea that was. My roomy was jealous! Hospital pillows are awful!!!!
  17. Absolutely normal. I cried like a baby a day after my surgery and I my head wants food but my stomach doesn't. I'm not hungry at all. Takes everything for me to drink these protein shakes but I must and don't forget those fluids to stay hydrated. When I want to eat I get out my sugar free Popsicles. They help ALOT!! I had four of them yeaterday

    surgery Feb 7th

Don't push it. I thought I would be off only a week but it takes time to heal and gain back strength and energy to face the day. If you lift anything more then 10 lbs at work then it's best to take a couple weeks off. Remember you just will have had a major surgery. Your health is more important. I feel 6 days post op that I still want to rest after a half hour of activity. Good luck and God bless!! You will do great!

    Surgery Feb 11th!

I thought the chocolate lite muscle milk I had in the hospital was pretty good. Just ordered jay Robb whey protein in vanilla online. That was highly recommended too. We will see!!

I COMPLETELY agree with 4My2Boys. We had our surgery on the same day. I'm planning on going back to work on Monday (yep 1 week post op). I feel that good. Luckily my boss is awesome and said work as little or as much as you like and don't worry about the money.....nice company huh??? But I plan on doing a couple hour meeting on Monday and see how I feel from there. No heavy lifting required in my job and I can come home whenever I feel like it. The surgery wasn't that bad! My knee and back surgery was 10 times worse. So glad I had it done!!
  21. Oh no!!!!!! I don't miss those days now that I'm living in balmy Florida. Take care and drink lots of hot tea or broth. And keep talking to us!!!

    Introduction to the Forum

Hi Doreen, you sound just like me. I too am a nurse and of course your entire family expects you to take care of them too so you never have time to care for yourself. I'm 5 days post op and on day 2 post op as I was taking my 2 am stroll of the hospital halls I broke down in tears wondering what the heck did I just do? I couldn't believe I let someone take out most of my perfectly healthy stomach!!!! That lasted all of 10 minutes and then I was fine! Since then I have been excited, motivated, and POSITIVE I did the right thing. Even my husband told me last night how incredibly proud he is of me and how courageous I am and that meant everything in the world to me. We are going to be some super hot and healthy nurses rockin those hospitals now!!! Congrats and stay in touch. I'm addicted to this website. ❤❤❤❤
