  1. Has anyone used a surgeon in Houston, to remove your gallbladder, that you can refer? I need to have mine taken out pretty soon. Thanks!

    Weight loss stall

We have almost an identical situation. I was sleeved on March 28th and have lost 50 pounds and also haven't lost any weight in almost two weeks. This is the part where, in the past, I would have probably said "to hell with it" and fall back into my old habits, but with the sleeve I can't really eat enough to do any damage, even if I wanted to..lol Its encouraging to hear that other people have had the same "stalls" around this time and that everything turns out good.

    Big Congrats to you!!!
  5. I used Dr. Matthew St. Laurent here in Houston. He was great. Surgery was VERY smooth. I highly recommend him.

    OMG im done!

    Congrats and good luck!
  7. I can't speak to the quality of the protein...but I can tell you that Ihave been drinking these for years. They are delicious...especially the Cookies & Cream! What I like the most about them is they don't have that chalky taste. I have tried many brands and IMO these are by far the tastiest.

    Confessions...

I haven't tried this...BUT...haha! What if you got a couple of boneless wings and a little ranch and pureed it in the magic bullet? I imagine it isn't something you would want to do very often, but I would think it would be a way to get the flavor you want without compromising your sleeve. Let me know how it works if you try it!
  9. Awesome! I was March 28th! I have very little red and no brusing around my incisions. No itching at all. The only one that still hurts at all is the one the pulled the stomach out through. My doctor told me that was because of the deep stitches.
  10. Today I am 10 days post op. I had my first follow up appointment with my surgeon and I am down 10 pounds in 10 days. He said everything looks great! Wounds are healing great. I got the all clear to resume light exercising like jogging, biking, and weights under 50lbs. This has been a breeze compared to what I had imagined the process would be like. I had never had any type of surgery before so I really didn't know what to expect. . I am getting in my Protein around 120g+ a day. Here is what I usually have: - Lombrada Lean Body Cookies and Cream Protein Shake - 40g Protein (Delicious...love these!) - Yes whey - 25g of 100% Whey protein in 2.9 ounces (Really not good at all, but easy way to get 25g) - Isopure - 40g in 20 ounces. Doesn't taste too good so I dilute with 50% Water and add MIO - unjury chicken broth - 21g in 8 ounces (I believe.) Not really that great, but good protein. Eating 4oz of Wonton or Hot and Sour Soup broths for lunch and dinner. Just added creamy Soups like cream of potato, chicken, or muchroom. I just mix the chunks up with the soup in a Magic Bullet so I don't have to worry about seperating the chunks out...Delicious! Starting Thursday I move to pureed foods. Looking forward to some mashed or baked potatoes and some hummus! Only issues that I can think of are really small and were things that I expected. Just some incision pain (the one with the deep stitches that they took the stomach out through) and some head hunger. I have had a few cravings for some things but I am sure that it is just head hunger because its not like I am actually hungry. So glad that I made the decision to have the surgery. I have not regreted it for one second! I go back to the surgeon in 5 weeks. I am planning on not weighing myself until then. I will post another update then.
  11. Had the operation this morning. All went very well and I am watching the NCAA Tournament in my room. I should get out of the hospital tomorrow around noon. Few notes... First surgery ever. It wasn't anywhere as bad as i thought it would be. It went so smoothly. I met a girl. Her name is Morphine. She was been great but I am thinking about breaking off with her soon. I think we both knew this would not be long term. The notes on here about what to bring were amazing and very helpful. Finally...I am sooooo EXCITED!!!!
  12. feeling great today! should be going home in a couple of hours. slept really well last night. only scary part was arriving at the hospital you until I went under in the operating room. I am pretty sure that was just the fear of the unknown getting the best of meme, as I have never had surgery before. Pain level ha been very tolerable. This has been a great experience! I am convinced that this is the best decision I have ever made for myself
  13. I was just sleeved yesterday and my life saver was Ludens Kiwi strawberry Moisture Drop. They are shaped and packaged just like Ludens Cherry cough drops. Def recommend them, as the keep your mouth moist. Also used carmex. I heard a heating pad is great for gas pain but I havent used mine yet.
  14. Thanks Kirk! I recognize you from Youtube. Only seems to be a few men posting on Youtube about VSG. Def a source of inspiration dude!
  15. Surgery was going to be on Tuesday, but I had to postpone until May. I am really bummed about it but I really didn't have a choice. It was a long process to get mentally prepared for the surgery. Trying to stay pumped. I am sure I will fine, just a temporary letdown.

    Bummed...had to postpone my surgery

Great News! I am not going to have to wait until May. Surgery is on for this Thursday! I am very grateful for a series of fortunate events. Cross your fingers for me!

    Im sooo nervous

Christie, I just had my endoscopy two weeks ago, tomorrow. I was completely awake through the procedure. They do a pretty good job of numbing everything. It was not painful at all just very awkward. You'll be fine!

    Bummed...had to postpone my surgery

Thanks for the encouragement! On a side note I used to have a golf ball named Jersey Girl.
  19. I got my approval today from the insurance company. There wasn't much doubt that it would be approved because my company covers bariatrics with our insurance, but it still a big relief to officially hear that everything is a go for March 19th!!! I hope everyone waiting to hear from insurance gets some good news soon!
  20. I am sure everyone has some simple things that they are looking forward to after reaching their weight loss goals. I personally can't wait to not have to request a seat belt extension when flying. Anybody else that had that goal or anything similar? How great did it feel?

    Airline Seat Belt Extension

When I get in shape I won't even wear towels...

    Airline Seat Belt Extension

Haha...I don't imagine it is! I am 6'5" so even after I get my belly in check, I still have to figure out where to put my knees!
  23. So....First round of March Madness is Thurs March 21-24, so naturally I scheduled my surgery on the 19th so I can watch all 48 first round games while I adjust/recuperate! Yeah buddy! I figured the Man Room would be the place to post this beca use only a man would be crazy enough to schedule sleeve around sports!

    Juicing Before Surgery?

Those are valid concerns and ones that I addressed prior to starting. I have the thumbs up from the dietician and I am adding Protein powder and taking Multivitamins. 50 days might be a little ambitious on my part. haha... I am finishing day two and still working on finding recipes that I enjoy. If I don't find some that I really like soon this is not going to work!
