Anyone a reader???
Alex, if you like historical novels, you might like the Children of the (fill in the blank) I believe the first one was Children of the Wolf. They are written by a wife/husband team who are both anthropologist or archiologiests. The first one is set when the Ice Bridge still exsisted between Russa and Alaska. Very enjoyable reads.

Your Wu name
<hijack> Actually, with name generators, they just have a list of names (or in this case, they have a list of predetermined words.) and they match those words with a pattern. It would be based on the first few characters or the length or it could be completely random and not based on anything at all. They cannot link your name with your computer as a general rule. As long as you install the updates for your operating system as they come out, as long as you install the updated signature files for your anti-virus and keep your spyware blockers updated, you should be fine. Never open an e-mail if you do not know the person. Never answer mails that appear to be from PayPal, eBay, etc where they claim your acount will be closed. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORDS, PINS, SSN or other such pass phrases or codes. NEVER EVER </hijack> My son was Amature Overlord

Anyone a reader???
Novels? what are these things you speak of? Here is my current reading list: my stats book, my accounting book, my math book. And for fun, I'm reading a book on malicous mobile code. Although while I was recovering from my surgery I read a wonderful trashy fantasy novel, the latest in the Sword of Truth series....

How soon after surgery can you start abdomincal exercises?
Hey Jasper! Situps are not a good choice to begin with. They put too much stress on the lower back. Crunches are the way to go, much easier on the back! I've started back doing my crunches and I'm working my way back to my pre-op level, and hope to move beyond the 50-60 crunches I was doing almost every day. I'm working at doing 30 every-other day this week, and will move to 40 next week. Pilaties is very good for the ab too, plus it is no impact, unless you fall off your ball...

How has your relationship with food changed?
I started slowly adding mushy foods back to my diet on Monday. I made my self a pot of Irio and heaven! And who would have ever thought that a one egg omelet du framage for breakfast would keep me full until the late afternoon! So, I’m back to looking at food, not just Soup. Because I’ve been on liquids for just over two weeks, it’s given me a slightly different perspective than when I originally started thinking about my relationship with food. I am a very good cook, yet I resist cooking for myself because it is “just me.” I guess I think/thought I didn’t/don’t deserve to eat yummy stuff. Here at college I’ve hardly cooked anything for myself that wasn’t a convenience food. The only time I cook something nice is when I have company. Isn’t that sad? This week I entered my son’s favorite dish into Epicurious’ recipe contest. (chicken and Gnocchi (gnocchi is an Italian potato Pasta. It’s a really different pasta, not only because it’s the only potato pasta I know of. It takes about 15 – 20 minutes to make start to plate. Even though I’m not a fan of alfredo sauce, I do really enjoy this dish.) The last time I did something like this was when I was a size 12/14 and my son was a baby. (Yup, won blue ribbons for my baking at the county fair…) I haven’t figured out why I suddenly have this renewed desire to enter cooking competitions when I can’t eat solid food. I’m also suddenly creating new recipes as well. I find that when I go to various restaurants with friends the smell of the food makes me slightly nauseous. This has happened at a couple different places. Not sure what is going on with that though. I have very little desire to eat most of the time. This is practically out of character for me. No grazing at all. I’m one of the lucky ones that have experienced restriction from day one. Well, I don’t know if I actually have restriction. I’m only having one mushy a day, but a small amount of food satiates me. And that is so gratifying. As I transition to mushies, I cannot help but wonder what I discover about myself.

NSV anyone?
another day, another NSV! I ran up a flight of stairs this evening. I didn't even realize what I had done until after I had done it! And my had my 20 pound backpack on. I wasn't even winded when I got to the top either!

Bad, Bad Daisydoodle...
Daisy, what is your total calorie intake? If you are below say 1200 or 1400 calories, then I personally don't see a problem with a couple of Cookies. Remember, this isn't a diet! Just make sure you track your calories. (no need to be obsesive about it though) The last nutritionist I worked with said I could have baccon cheese burgers on occasion because my cholesteral is so low.

question...
good question, as I plan to take tae kwon do next fall. I think our best bet is to get really good at blocking!!!! That and wear a chest protector when sparing.

surgery and medications
I am having problems one of my pills, so I think I need to break it into thirds before I take them. I'm on several different medications... Also, I take all my meds with milk instead of water. It makes them go down easier and are easier on my tummy. (check with your pharmasist to make sure that food doesn't negatively impact your meds)

Boredom =(
Just so you know, I am taking a horseback riding class for my PE class, and I'm only two weeks out! I think Zoe's suggestion about taking a vacation in city is a great idea! I also like your idea of painting your room. I need to paint my bedroom when I get home from this semester... I love to paint! Good luck, and we are here for you!
