  1. Kelly, I've been thinking more about what you said. about how yuo thought you would be happy once you hit 16, then 14, then 12. You are at a size 12 but you are not happy. I dont' think you will be happy at a size 8 either. I think you need to learn to be happy where you are, happy as the person you are at a size 12. Because if you are not happy now, you will not be happy then. A lot of people think that if they could only move to a different city a differnt state they would be happy. They could leave all their trouble behind. But once they get to the new city ,the new state, they aren't happy, because happiness doesn't come from outside. It come from within. Perhaps once you are happy and content with yourself at your current size you can let that go. When you are ready.
  2. Kelly, I have mine done at my band Dr's. But reputiable gyms or universities should be albe to do this for you. Bell sells a body fat% checker for about $15 or so. I find it is slightly off from what the doctor's scales says. but we are talking a difference of a point of a percentage. The difference was .3%, big whoop. Just make sure you are really well hydrated to get an acurate reading. One of the other things you can do is find someplace to get weighed under Water. I believe there is a scale that was on one of the threads has this option as well. But even if you turn out to be 27% as opposed to 25%, is that added stress worth it? Especially since there is some research that shows that stress causes weight gain? Penni, I'm going on the bone thing based on what my doc said. It is possible that he was refering to my personal genetic weirdness and I misunderstood him. I do know that my DH had gi-normous leg bones... and he's been MO and beyond since he was a teen.
  3. stupid internet! I do dream work Trish. Of couse, when I get really into the analysis, I tend to analize my dream while I'm dreaming it. Oh sure, it saves time, but man does it get in the way of the story! here's my wildest dream: I was at a party drinking tequilla shots. I mean, lots of tequilla shots. I woke up because I was so drunk. Had to hold on to the wall to make it to the bathroom. I was that drunk. The wildest part? I hadn't had a drink for about 6 months before the dream tequillas.
  4. Lately most of my dreams are heavily influenced by WoW (world of warcraft), so they involve fighting and killing lots of monsters.
  5. kelly, my last personal trainer was gorgous. Perfectly fit and toned and just wow. She was a size 12. People with an athletic build are bigger. Bigger doesn't mean fatter. I want you to go get a real body fat analysis done. I'm serious. You may be at 25% body fat, WHICH IS THE NORMAL PERCENTAGE FOR WOMEN.. One thing we MO or now just O people soon to be Normal people need to understand is that we have much dense bones and probably more muscle mass than someone who's never been MO. We needed that extra density to move our bodies on land.
  6. Jodie, honey, I think you'd better have your mother start legal action over the discrimination you are facing. Your co-morbidities quite likey fall under the ADA, it's that whole death thing. Okay, is your ticker show really how much you weigh? 240?
  7. Gaynor, I can eat everything. And sometimes I do. but not all at once! Why shouldn't you be able to tolarate steak? Talk about your hard protiens! A nice whole grain bread with lots of Fiber is actually a good thing, every now and again. Just not an entire loaf! As long as you are getting 1200 to 1500 calories aday, with adaquate protiens... that's the target range. Patience is soooo hard. We see people who seem to be doing so much "better" than we are. We see the loss that the RNY poeple have. One of our greatest challenges is to not compair against anybody else. I'm personally frustrated with my slow loss. Other people see my loss and think "wow! she's just got the weight falling off her." but I compaire myself against folks that have lost double what I've lost and I want to kick something. I am concentrating on my NSVs and trying desperately to ignore the evil evil evil scale.
  8. I think I went to the Calistoga Spa about 800 years ago. I did have the works then. Oh. My. Gawd. That was the most amazing experience, even after 800 years. You know I will call you!
  9. I've been thinking about your first post on this thread Zoe. One of those things that has been occupying my brain, chewing up cycles.... Sounds like you are dieting. Or at least, in the dieting mind frame. Perhaps give yourself permission to be where you are for a while? I know that before I found my DH I was in that "I'll never find Mr. Right" funky place. I was tired of dating frogs and toads. So, I stopped looking. Which was a good thing, because he was right there all along. Any, I digress. Maybe you just need some time to be with yourself, no pressure, no expectations, just learning to be comfortable with yourself again?
  10. A couple of years ago at the DH's company picnic, The Little River Band was playing! Talk about wow!
  11. vinesqueen replied to LisaMG's topic in The Lounge
Okay, I apperently gained 3 pounds but I lost another notch on my belt! Woot! Maybe the best one of all... This morning I realized that I will never go hungry again. (it's a wolves thing)
  12. Temps are expected to reach 90 today. We just aren't used to heat like this. Even though We get heat like this every year.... We are very delicate. Yes We are.
  13. Last night I went on a great date with DH. We went to a great Seattle restaurant, and I had cantilope martinis. We split an order of 2 lambchops and a 1/2 order of asian bbq shrimp, so he had 3 shrimp and I had 4.... Do you have any idea how small a lamb chop is? They are tiny little things! We even had desert, which alost never happens. I had the chocolate torte and he had the blackberry ice cream. (blackberries are sooo under rated! Devine little droop fruit! ) We didn't even finish our deserts. We were completely satisfied. The the SAM (Seattle Art Musium) they had a cocktail buffett, but neither one of us even looked at that wonderful food or the complementry wine... I LOVE MY BAND.
  14. I am crazy about music, so my rewards are CDs. One CD for every pound, but I wait until I hit a 5# mark before I buy more CDs. I can substitue DVDs if I want. Since I regularly treat myself to all the F-A-B spa sorts of things, those are not part of my rewards. (oh yeah, I make full use of the cosmetology school at my University) I think when I get to goal I want to go to Calistoga, CA for a full mudbath treatment & hot air balloon thing. Mallorcia is beautiful. I went there on holliday when I was an au-pair for an English family. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have the mumps...
  15. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Not a thing. I am convinced that it is your brain's way of adjusting. Adjusting to your new size, to the new ammount of space you take up. I think they happen when our bodies/minds sort of panic and they just have to get used to the new "you." Your heart has to pump less blood, etc. Lots of adjustments are going on behind the sceens. You've lost close to 60 pounds! You've lost over 25 KG! You've lost 3.5 stones! That more weight than a giant bag of rice! It also seems that when we see the scale stop moving other things are going on. Are you tracking your measurements? How many inches/cm have you lost??? How many sizes and notches on your belt??? How much better do you feel?
  16. I was absolutely convinced that there was no way I had sleep apnea. No possible way. I wasn't well rested, but I had developed terrible insomnia. I simply couldn't fall asleep. No naps, and I sure never woke myself up snoring either. I never snored really loudly either... my dog and my husband however... I am a tummy sleeper, and I slept on my tummy during my studies. Just worried is all.
  17. I was back to school the next week, I'm a full time student. No problems. I was horseback riding at two weeks.
  18. Be careful Chicagoboy! the band is not surgical bulimia! Let's hope y'all never have a PB ever again! Oh, and welcome officially to Bandlandia! You've had your babtism by fire... or.. well we won't change it to what it really was..
  19. wow! great work, you should be proud of yourself!
  20. Yay! Congrats Greg! How wonderful!
  21. Teresa, how long did you use it? Just that one night? Give it a while and you will be amazed at the results! At your current size it is a fair bet that you have sleep apnea. It is potentially deadly. You could die in your sleep, or you could die from the side effects of chronic sleep deprivation... like falling asleep while you are driving. If you think you were mis-diagnosed, GET A SECOND OPIONION!!!! This is serious stuff. Americans don't value sleep anymore. We sort of view people who get 8 hours of sleep as lazy. Our health has suffered, and there are studies that indicate that sleep deprived people gain weight and have trouble loosing it.
  22. I read this report or maybe it was an abstract of the report, and it is very interesting. I dont' know that I've ever been discriminated on because of my weight. I've been discriminated because I'm a woman, but not becaue of my weight. The first time I've ever really experience any negative that I could tell was directly because of my weight was on a flight out of Pocatello Idaho. The woman I sat next too was downright hostile. And It's happened on several Pokey/Seattle flights. I was absolutely bewildered the first couple of times it happened. It was only women, never men. I didn't answer your poll, because I feel that there isn't a "I don't "think" I've been discriminated against. It is possible that my weight had some effect, but it's been obviously gender biased.
  23. I'm glad to hear that you are doing better Leatha. Itching is the worst thing ever! People will actually damage their skin to to make the itching stop. People soo buy into the "height/weight proportion only" that it's crazy. Many of these men calling for only HWP are pretty pudgy...
  24. worthless little girl you take her, I don't want her stab me in the heart
  25. Mine's about as empty, but not as clean. I'm not hording food as much. My fridge has been mostly empty for two weeks and I haven't freaked out about it.
