  1. well that or never go on vaca again Paula!
  2. I don't like them, They are too sweet and taste like diet soda. yuck, but that is just me
  3. Welcome to Bandland Wendy. Great work with your GB, btw. Please feel free to use the search function for this website. You have asked a seemingly simple question, but as with so many things that seem simple on the onset, it is a very complex and large question. An onion, if you will. Layers upon layers. We welcome you to this board, since you will be able to educate us on your procedure, and how you now live. Many of us have no idea what it is like for you, since we are experts in our bands, but don't understand what your day to day is like. Please feel free to look at the FAQ section, that might answer some of your more general questions. The Banding experiece is such an individule experience that it is next to impossible to generalize. For instance, I can eat cheese burgers, or at least part of one before I am full. My DH cannot have more than a bite. It will either get stuck or he will have a PB. I only have trouble with chicken, but he has far fewer things that he can tolerate. If he had and unfill he would have no trouble, but he is really tight right now. Me? I need a fill. As for the actual mechanics, we have not had anything cut or re-routed. We are completely intact, and so we have no malabsorption issues. Bandsters lose weight slower than GB or RNY folks because we have no malabsorption, but we also have no window of opportunity. We can continue to adjust our bands tighter or looser as needed for our lives. Many bandsters are frustrated becaue we want to loose weight as quickly as bypass folks, but then again I think we ar conditioned to want it now! People want a miricle, to have the weight fall right off. We are slower than you, but we will eventually get there. I hope this helps. And again, welcome
  4. I dunno. I think that sounds like stories they tell each other to validate their choice. I'm pretty sure that our organs have stopped growing by the time we have become adults. I mean think about it, if our internal organs keep growing wouldn't that cause generally terrible health issues? Sure, things can get enlarged, like hearts but I don't think they "grow into" other thing, otherwise heart patients with enlarged hearts would have the issue of the heart growing into like the liver...
  5. No, not quitting caffeen. My two mugs of deep dark and wonderfully bitter brew is not up for grabs.
  6. Nope, I'm a West Coast Gurl. Folks from that part of the county scare me...
  7. Depends on how you measure success. My NSVs alone have made the band worth it.
  8. it all depends on where your port is. If your doc wants to place it on your sternum, you might want to talk to your doc about a different placement for the port. My husband's port is on his sternum, but he doesn't wear a bra. My port is on my right-front side, and I'm very large busted. I don't have any issues with anything rubbing my port.
  9. Yup, I agree with Vera, wise choice! Good to see that you are taking care of yourself!
  10. Okay, why were you mortified? A 1/3 pound hamberger is 5.333 oz weight precooked. We all know that the burger is going to loose weight in cooking. A good bandster size is 3 - 4 oz and you had at most 5 oz of meet. you had 1/2 a bun. Not the entire bun, not a load of bread, you had 1/2 a bun. You had 5 or 6 fries. Not 15 or 16 fries. Not 25, not 55. You had 5 or 6 fries. I don't know if they are shoestring like McDonalds or a bigger cut, but you still JUST HAD FIVE OR SIX, not the entire basket. No cheese! Hello? How can you eat a burger with no cheese? This was your first burger in a year?! Okay. Why are you mortified again? Because you are eating like a regular person? Zoe, get your boot please. Babs, you are healing right now, not trying to loose weight. Your body needs the extra protein and the extra calories. I don't want to hear "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" because you didn't eat the whole thing.
  11. ferrets are very stinky. Very stinky. I'm glad you decided to wait and gave your son time to think about his little friend.
  12. I don't believe I've motivated anyone to get the band.
  13. I don't know if I enjoy food the same way, or if I enjoy it in a different way. I savor things more now. I don't bolt or wolf down food now, I dont' eat in the car anymnore. I take my time to eat, and so bad food just isn't something i want to do any more. I have a finite amount of food, and I want it to be yummy not just ... bulky.
  14. Coffee! Coffee! Coffee! but with 1/2 & 1/2 and some dark muscovado sugar. (I had to buy a new french press when I got back to ID because I left mine on the counter... next to the butter bell... sigh. I suppose one can't have too many french presses...
  15. wear comfy clothes, don't wear a bra if you don't need one. If you need something to corral the girls, a tight t-shirt or tank top.. get some trashy novels, what ever flavor you like, trashy DVDs... Take naps, eat popcicles and don't worry
  16. no scale movement for me since early July, but I have had 18 NSVs... Today I am back to school, and I fit into the desks so well my tummy doesn't even touch the table! No squishing into the desks!
  17. Fat holds onto estrogen, and you've just lost a huge amount of weight. So you've recently had a large amount of estrogen dumped into your system. Call your doc.
  18. I'm not sure where they got the idea that you have to "start all over" after a fill. I'm not even sure what that means. And yes, I was a little creeped out about having something strange in my body. I got over it.
  19. Hey Darcey! Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. We miss you, and want to know how you are doing after your removal!
  20. Okay, I've just regeistered for my PE class, this time I'm taking a dance class... belly dancing. Won't they be surprized? Hey, will laughing my butt off count as excersize?
  21. Well, I have to say I don't know how my schedule is going to be. I have to take calculus, so I"m guessing busy since math isn't exactly my friend.... I have a couple of software classes, so that will be easy-peasy. I couldn't have done that to you Rae, I couldn't even drop in on family that late! Yikes! Of course, I have an open door policy so there you go!
  22. Excellent news Pam! Okay, so I'm partial to NWWLS It's so funny Molly that you and I are the same height, yet at 130 I would look ill. I'm shooting for a size 14, or a 12 in my wildest dreams. Probably 12 pants 14 top, since that sort of the way I'm built.
  23. The world just gets smaller and smaller!
  24. Hey Lins12, you if you have no restriction, you have no restriction. I would say that there is no "too soon" if you need a tweek.
  25. Yup, I would suspect a leak as well. I've played with a band, and capacity should give you too much restriction, given that the band is placed correctly. Good luck, and keep us posted
