What Lapband rules should never be broken and why?
I think the top rule to not be broken is Chew to Goo. Pain is a harsh mistress. Avoid at all costs drinking with, or just after meals. Again, pain is a harsh mistress. (that and you don't want to wash the food out of your pouch.) Avoid the soft food, liquid calories. They don't fill your pouch.

Out of place
Well, when I'm in line for a movie, I almost always feel compelled to start 'baaaa-ing" ... once when I went to try out for a part as an extra in some movie... I started "mooing" in the line. I thought it was funny... Paining starkers! That really give a new twist to the old classic nude painting. Performance art? Are you going to post a pix of that on the "artist and their artwork thread" then? I can't imagine painting a room starkers. For one thing I'd need to do something with my boobs... it just wouldnt' work. hmmm, perhaps it would give some interesting texture to the paint. *squish*

You are right, of course. Food doesn't judge. It simply provides succor and solance. I've never had teal hair. But I did have blue for a while. it was very pretty, but didn't last very long. No, I've had purple hair for so long, I was actually know as "the purple haired lady" at one place I worked. I sort of feel like it's my natural color. Partly because I'd always admired the little old ladies who had lavender or pink hair. I didn't want to wait until I was a little old lady before I had blue hair. But partly, I hate to be ignored. Part of the wolves thing. It is amazingly hard to ignore someone with fushia hair, let alone a 250 pound woman with fushia hair. One who's also capable of being amazingly loud. And now for your offical Bobby Sherman update... Well, it looks like Bobby is a cop... http://www.bobbysherman.com/ Bobby is going to have to get a bigger wallet to hold his newest badge. He was sworn in friday as a full fledged San Bernardino Country Sheriff. He will be teaching CPR and First Aid classes.

VEGAS BASH 2005 Final Countdown
If I didn't think I'd die of embarassment, I'd suggest we ask Lisa to host a "slumber party." But Heck, I wouldn't even tell people I was pregnant because it would have been proof that I"d been having sex. I went to a sex toy party, not knowing what I was getting my self into. I didn't even know it was a sex toy party! And it was co-ed! There was this... battery operated "toy" that... gyrated. It was pinkish and knobbly. Someone turned it on and set it on the floor where it proced to crawl accross the floor. I'm still embarrased, 20 years later.

Ok I am over it now..... plateau
Brenda, I too have been on a plateau for all summer. 2 entire pounds since June, and now we are looking at September. I got so pissed off I almost quit everything, but came to my senses. My thanks to everyone for their encoragement on that. 7 pounds in 8 weeks is not a plateau, it just bearly is below the 1-2 pounds a week. That is still within the realm of reasonable weight loss. Sure, it isn't the amazing rappid loss many of us got used to, but it is still within the expected rate. I undestand your frustration, espcially when we see how amazing some people are doing. We are so excited for our fast loosers, even when we feel a stab of envy because of our own slow loss. I have stopped tracking my weight. I know it is unreasonable on some level, but I have stopped. I stopped for my sanity. I am now solely focused on my NSVs. It really makes this part of the journey tolerable. Today, I bought a size LARGE skirt. Not a 2X but a large. So, I suppose right now, the fact that I've only lost 2 pounds all summer is irrelevent. What are your NSVs? Are you tracking your inches lost?

Summer Weightloss Challenge
So I was wrong on the not having any NSV to report. I had to go buy a big skirt for my Middle Eastnern Folk dance class... Yeah, they don't want us to call it "belly dancing" here, they feel it has "negative connotations." Yeah, what ever, it's belly dancing. I went to several stores trying to find a skirt that would match the requirements, let alone worry about the size thing... So at the 4th and final store I found one, a cocoa dip-dyed skirt. The biggest one was a LARGE, so I wasn't too hopeful. But I was brave and went to try it on. IT FIT! I just bought a size LARGE skirt. Not 2X, not XL, but just LARGE!!! Mind you, when I bought my Large jacket, I really suspected that the label was wrong, that it had been marked Large in error at the factory, an that it was some sort of cosmic joke on me. Sort of like that pair of size 18 pants that I was able to fit into (didn't buy but that's a different story). I felt that was in error as well. Maybe it wasn't an aberation, maybe it's the truth. I feel like I have no restriction at all. I still haven't lost any more weight, but I'll take my size shrinking.

Out of place
Yeah, our lives seem to run parallel, don't they? I was days away from being 16 before I got mine. My son wanted to know what my prom was like. This is the boy that went to prom last year with a boy and a girl, and this year went to prom with two girls.... He couldn't believe that I didn't go to prom... Part of my problem is that is want to be a boy. Not sexually, but gender. I was always much more interested in playing with boy toys that girl toys. My entire life, boy toys are so much more interesting than girl toys. Take make-up for instance... I really am only interested in it if I get to make it look like a zombie or something weird. I've only ever been interested in "man" jobs. I want man pay, I want man regocniton. One of the classes here sort of summed it up... some little mormon boy who'd never met anyone quite like me said "Wow, I've never met a woman who demanded the respect due a man."

Maybe this is what happens to women when we have a mid-life crisis. Maybe I've been in the middle of a mid-life crisis for years and was once again the only one who didn't see it. I realized last night that I am out of place. That I don't "fit" any place in the physical world. I dont' fell like I have anything in common with women my age. I don't know many women my age agonizing over their calc homework... And I don't have alot in common with the boys in my program. I believe only 1 or 2 of them had been born when I graduated High School... Sometimes I think I have more in common with teenaged boys than women my age.. I'd much rather be playing video games than doing my homework. But I don't look like most other women my age, I don't do the sorts of things they are doing, my family sure doens't look like theirs... I'm happy with who I am, happy with what I am, as a general rule. Of course, but again, I compair my journey with theirs... Of course, I realize that I have always felt like that, no matter what age I was. In the 5th grade all the girls were ga-ga about Donny Osmond and it was all I could to do keep from calling them idiots. (like Donny Osmond or David Cassidy was going to come to our little school and sweep them off their feet... People are arrested for that sort of thing, and rightly so...) I don't know, maybe I'm starting to be depressed ... Of course, I think I always get this way when I have to come back to Idaho. It just surves to highlight how alien I am here. I just spent my 3rd of 6 wedding aniversaries away from my husband. Next year, he's going to take vacation so he can spend it with me. Anyway, thanks for listening. Anyone else feel like they are out of place? Are we actually all out of place together?

Art work and their artists
She can if she does this... I have gi-normous windows, and my curtians are those heavy blackout curtians. No light can penitrate them. But to wake up in the morning, I need natural light to help. If it's pitch dark, I'll convince myself it's still sleepy time, even if it was noon... So, my solution is the first pix. Acrylic on window glass. In the morning the light makes it looks like a giant stained glass window. At night, people walking by my window think I've had a big stained glass windows installed. (to give you an idea of the size, it's it about 4' X 3') of course, it does tend to obscure the view... the second one is the view being obscured...

Summer Weightloss Challenge
Kare, the very first rule is NEVER GIVE YOUR NAME TO COOKIES, EVER. If you do, this is exactly what happens to you... they call you up in the middle of the night wanting to know if you want a good time. It's just so much simpler to not give them your name. Or your phone number. That's a bad idea too. No NSVs for me. And I'm not going to step on the scales until I have too...
