Hello Michiganders. I live in Portage but will be moving to Muskegon in a few weeks. Was sleeved on December 18th by Dr Jon Schram in Grand Rapids. Just had my 6 week post op check up. Down 72 pounds and feeling like a new person

OMG!! 72 lbs! You must be walking on cloud nine. Congratulations!

Oh it was so amazing to feel the texture of actual food in my mouth. Went out to a local restaurant for an open house for my wife's thirty one business and had baked salmon and mashed cauliflower. Amazing. Looks like 3 meals from a 14.99 entree

Believe me Amanda, we all know what you are going through. Stay positive and keep pushing. It's well worth it in the end. I'm pretty new to the adventure but you know that we are all in this together

Amanda nerves are common place with any procedure. You will be just fine. I have severe sleep apnea and was concerned about the same issues. It will work out for you. It's time to take your life back and charge forward

I was sleeved 12/18. I just had a follow up appointment with my sleep apnea doctor just this past Friday due to needing it for work. I have lost 37 pounds. The doctor told me to bring in the machine if I felt that the pressure got to be too much and they would turn it down. He also said that once I lose 25% body weight I may need another sleep study

I just took my first Celebrate Calcium plus. It's my first time to puke since surgery 12/19!!! I handled the Multivitamin and the Iron but it immediately came back up with calcium. I didn't mind the flavor. Any suggestions? I took them spaced out and had something in my stomach!
Sorry I don't have any suggestions. Sorry that it caused you to get sick. That sucks

I quit January 18, 2010 after smoking for 16 years. I was just sleeved on 12/18/12. I will say that quitting smoking is one if the hardest things I have ever done. I quit cold turkey and it was the best decision that I ever made to better my health besides having this surgery. To not wake up in the morning and go hack up a lung while smoking my morning cigarette is nice. Also to be able to enjoy the fresh air.
My surgeon says that smoking increases the chances of getting an ulcer which can be a very bad complication on a VSG patient. He will not operate on a smoker and sincerely tries to help the patient to never pick it up again.

As far as Vitamins go, I use the Celebrate brand that I purchase through my doctors office but they are available online also. As far as your surgeon goes, there is a section on the forum dedicated to Mexico so I'm sure you can find out info there on him. Good luck and congratulations

Well my nutrionist told me do not eat within 15 minutes of drinking something. If you eat something you must wait 45minutes before drinking something.I was given same instructions

My doctor told me to buy Pepcid ac but it doesn't come in a chewable. What are other doctors recommending??My surgeon sent me home with a prescription of Prilosec. The first two weeks I was told to open the capsules and pour the contents on a teaspoon of sugar free applesauce. Maybe you can get Pepcid in capsules and do the same

Congrats on the success. You will be home before you know it

I was given the prescription and did it for 5 days. I had to inject them in the fatty part if my abdomen. It wasn't bad at all. The needle is very small

I just took comfy clothes to wear home and my cellphone charger so I could make sure to keep it charged. I used the notepad on my phone to write questions that I had for the doctors. Good luck. I have my 2 week post op checkup tomorrow

I had the same thing as you. I asked just a few weeks ago at my 6 week post op visit and was told that my surgeon doesn't do cookie cutter sizing. He makes everyone's stomaches different sizes. I was told to not worry about it because he had great success doing it this way.
