Side and Stomach sleepers-How long...
GypsyQueen replied to Cheer Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried on day 4, as I don't like being on my back, and used pillows to prop and wedge. Once in position, it was comfortable. -
There is a definite difference between the full of pre sleeve to now. Without the elasticity of our stomach, the discomfort of going overboard is much more obvious, immediate and intense. But if you eat slow, a level of satiety can be reached that is still satisfying.

The moisture barrier sticks, aloe, etc. are great for chaffing, but take pictures and document, for sure!

That's My Fitness Pal -
I deviled my eggs, then puréed. They were moist and tasty, quick and easy. There was a lot of rumbling with most everything I ate, but Nut said as long as it did not cause a trip to the bathroom (for either reason , then all was good.

Hair is getting to thick.. Anyone else ?
GypsyQueen replied to MariaL1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure if it's the months of biotin prior to surgery, or "taking it easy" this last month, but my nails are absolutely fabulous. My hair was to the middle of my back, but cut it off to chin length as a preemptive strike. It looks really healthy, and something different for people to notice first, and then also not quite so drastic if I have to go to a pixie in a few months. -
Start practicing now. If the glass isn't in front of you to grab, it really helps on the relearning how to eat slow/chew thoroughly. And while eating out, just ask the waiter to remove it when the meal arrives.

Can't go to the bathroom

Fleet is what my Dr. recommended in this type of situation, but definitely call yours ASAP. 14 days is too long. -
Question i know the answer to but will ask anyway.
GypsyQueen replied to Jr-Castillo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 wks out, had at least 2 oz of beef filet, 1 crab leg and half an ear of corn for dinner tonight and was not uncomfortable at all. Definitely more room in my sleeve than expected. -

GypsyQueen replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

How long was your hospital stay?
GypsyQueen replied to LittleDooker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 days due to nausea and lack of fluid intake. -
If it doesn't cause you any kind of pain or discomfort, it is probably just passing right on through. I am the same way. I am 4 weeks post op today and can put down a 16 oz. bottle of water in just a few minutes. I worried about the taste/tolerance of water because I intensely dislike artificially sweetened anything, but thankfully it has not been an issue. I did find that higher alkaline water goes down much easier though. Zephyr Hills bottled brand is good. Just bought a home system that purifies/mineralizes, because my tap water is very acidic.

lets be honest, 1 week post op
GypsyQueen replied to erikahdz2005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw a couple people wrote they had shrimp as cheats, but they were on my soft foods list. Nut said they were good puréed too, but everything sounds gross puréed. I had filet mignon week 1 soft foods at a banquet. I chewed really well and it went down fine. It was a long night and I forgot to bring something else with me to eat. -
Confessions: I went on a food rampage
GypsyQueen replied to SlimDreams's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It takes time to establish good eating habits you can stick with, and that's what surgery gives us. Believe you me, making cupcakes was a tall order two weeks post op, but my sleeve won't allow much room for caving, and knowing that helps. It will be okay. -
Post Surgery Protein
GypsyQueen replied to katniss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only know the answer to the first half of your question because it came up in my pre op class. Your protein can be reduced based on height/weight on e you reach goal, but there will always be a minimum required amount. I'm 5'3"" and my range is 63-78, but anybody my height and shorter, the minimum will always be 63g/protein. So I will be aiming for 3 oz. lean protein 3x a day to avoid shakes. -
Not so supportive boyfriend...
GypsyQueen replied to ww412's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Let's also mention that Jared has Subway there to keep him in line less it tars their multi-gazillion $ image. He was a poor example, but really the only one that comes to mind. -
Not so supportive boyfriend...
GypsyQueen replied to ww412's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It very well may be the "easiest" way to lose weight, BUT the decision to change your lifestyle, give up all of your comforts and coping mechanisms, risk a multitude of complications and possible death and choose to be healthy is about the hardest thing you will ever do. Share with him this. Statistically speaking, once someone has crossed a 40 bmi, the chance of getting back to a healthy bmi is less than 1%. There are those few, Subway's Jared for example, but that number is crazy low scary. Your brain won't allow you to keep the weight off, it's constantly fighting you! I explained to my husband (who said the same thing), that this was a line in the sand that I could not move to begin a diet and eat healthy. Then I took him with me to every appt., etc. and now he's my biggest cheerleader. I probably would have bailed without his support. They can be turned around. :-)
