Join the club of "Had I not called things would have gone nowhere". It's sad when they call themselves insurance coordinators, just trying to figure out what are they coordinating!

Some of these coordinators are on CRA**, at least mine is!! I am just burning. The fact that I have Anthem of CA and she sent the claim to BCBS of Texas, tells me she is on CRA** or she just doesn't care. When she told me I shouldn't be calling the insurance that was her job, still burns me. If I hadn't checked with my insurance daily, I would have never known she screwed up. I will never recommend this surgeon to anyone, not because of him but because of his staff.

I know how you feel. Having to start the waiting game all over because of the coordinator screwed up BURNS!! But at least things are still rolling along. The waiting has driving me insane, I am normally a pretty calm and patient person, with this process I am a screaming lunatic!!

I would for sure take the initiative and call. You are having the surgery and you are paying the premiums. Had I not continually called I would have never known that, the office sent my claim to BCBS of Texas and not BCBS of CA. Be proactive not reactive.

I too made my decision for surgery at the end of last year. Saw the surgeon on the 7th of January had all of my pre-op testing complete by the 24th of January and my claim was submitted the same day. My hold up has been office error, they sent my claim to BCBS of Texas I have BCBS of CA. Had I not called the insurance company daily to check the status I would have never known. If I were you I would most certainly be checking daily to find the status of your claim.

So who's teaching the classes to prepare you to eat after surgery? They can't provide you information on healthy eating for now?

Have you had your meeting with your dietician? There is a simple formula to losing weight, you must expend more calories than you take in. Now if it were that easy I wouldn't be overweight myself . If possible I would start with your dietician, they have sooooooo much information and they can tailor a diet that works best for you. Good Luck

I have hit a serious road block with the surgeons insurance coordinator, seriously these people have NO CLUE. She sent my claim to BCBS of Texas. I have been calling Anthem for over a week about the claim and always the same, they have no claim on file. So I called the office the first time and was told "Why are you calling them" I then had to inform her I was the insured and I was the was having the surgery. The second time I called she told me she sent it in to Texas BCBS and she has conformation. Well that would be Great if I had BCBS of Texas!! These people are very incompetent, it's hard to believe they do this for a living. The precertification people at Anthem said most of the authorization is done over the phone, that's why the turnaround is quick. From the responses that I have seen lately, this seems to be a theme, it's Not Anthem it's the offices that appear to be the hold up. So I have to start the wait over again starting Monday, when the office calls the precertification line. So I will be Sleepless in Texas for the next week waiting.

I think this is a very sensitive subject, getting healthy for your spouse may not include surgery. Have you even asked him if this is something he wants. 9 times out of ten when people do something that they feel forced into, they tend to resent the person who pushed them. Getting healthy and changing ones life style is a personal thing, you still can get healthy together regardless of whether he does it diet wise or surgery wise. You know your spouse better than anyone on this site and I wish the best for both of you. Also congrats on your upcoming surgery. Good Luck

I have Anthem BCBS of CA PPO . No supervised diet, one nutrition and 1 psych visit. My surgeon said I didn't need to undergo pulmonary testing, but I did have an EGD ECG and blood work. It was a total of 17 days from my first appointment to insurance submission. Just waiting for approval.

This must be a requirement, because I am going through the same thing also. The coordinator was wonderful until I called and asked about my paper work? What's up with that? She actually got PO'd that I called the insurance company to see if she turned in the paper work. She had the nerve to ask me why I called them. I had to inform her this was my insurance and I was the one who was having surgery. Go figure.
