  1. You look great!
Just dropping a note since most Feb 2013 Sleevers are long gone. I stay with the forums to help keep my head in the game. My 2 year surgiversary came and went without fanfare. I live a new normal now at 135-139 lbs. I have an unending goal to get to 130 lbs but I don't work at getting to it. I eat 1200-1500 calories a day. I gain if I just eat junk or carbs but otherwise weight maintenance isn't too tough. I am amazed at how much I can eat now. Half a sandwich is no problem here. I now live an active lifestyle and can truthfully say that I look forward to exercise (it took probably a year or so to get to that place). My life has changed a lot since surgery and most of those changes have been for the better-- if nothing else, my wardrobe is amazing! To any other Feb 13 Sleevers, I hope this post finds you happy and healthy and drop a line if you can. Here's a body pic from

    Hello, you look fabulous.

My highest weight was 331& my lowest was 242. I am currently 254 and was feeling like a failure. I did all of this to sabotage myself. I exercise 6 days a week 1hour weight training and 1 on weekends 1 1/2 hour cardio. I lost inches and gained muscle but i am not at my desired goal. My eating is horrible. Cakes, cookie and just choices.

I haven't been on here in a while; I dropped in to get some encouragement. I am happy i did. This site puts my head in the right place.

I am going to keep trucking along. I know I will make it.

  2. Congrats to all February sleevers. Everyone is doing and looking great.

Today is my anniversary, I am down 78lbs from surgery and 83 from my heaviest. Its been a slow go but a go none the less. I have watched everyone who lost 100 and above and been jealous but it will come for me in due time.

People see me and can't believe how good I look. Strangers that see me workout tell me I'm looking good.

The compliments keep motivated. I workout 7 days a week for 1 and a 1/2. Some days I go twice. I can run on the treadmill without being winded. I climb stairs without being winded. I run upstairs without being winded. No need for a seat belt extender. My shoes feel loose. I can see my collar bones. My clothes dont fit.

I have been wearing 3 pairs of jeans that my daughter gave me and those are getting loose. plan to go shopping in the next 90days. Today my ego took a hit, got fitted for a bra; was wearing 46dd she measured me a 40ddd or 42dd. I fit the 40ddd, it was tight with lots of extra skin hanging over the top. I was hoping for better. I guess I have some work to do in the next 90days.

  3. I want to pamper myself for my progress.

I wanted to buy myself a Pandora charm for every 10lbs I've lost.

For my 1 year I'm going to treat myself to a new wardrobe and shoes (including work out gear and sneakers). I don't want to go crazy because I am not at goal yet. Still trying to figure out what I will do when I make it to goal.

  4. Hello Everyone!

Its been awhile since I posted on/or even looked at this forum. I was sleeved on Feb 27 2013 almost 1 year ago.

I have lost 87 pounds since then, hoping to round it off to an even 90 by the end of the month. I have also lost over 65" and then I stopped counting. I for sure was a slow but mostly steady looser. I did not follow some of the rules, I drink out of a straw for one (not encouraging that just keeping it honest)

I have had people not recognize me, or be totally shocked when they see me. Its embarassing and encouraging at the same time. Embarassing because I had let myself become obese, and I refused to acknowledge it or deal with it, or even look at myself in the mirror, take photos etc. I saw a photo of myself from about a year and half ago, I prob weighed 250 and I was mesmerized in a bad way. Who was that girl. Smiling on the outside drowning on the inside. I could barely look at for a minute.

I am still about 30 pounds off from my goal weight. I feel lighter and more confident, although loosing weight in your 40's does open up a whole new can of worms ie.,cellulite, wrinkles, my neck skin looks weird sometimes.(minus the double chin I guess..) I am sure I am overexagerating all of this because to me its always 10X worse than reality ( well maybe not the celulite on my thighs lol)

When I see myself in the mirror, I am captivated by this newer smaller body, other times, ( when I look at myself from behind) I am like, you need to loose 30 more pounds.

I can go into any store and buy clothes off the rack. I am now a canidate for skinny jeans. I have guys checking me out (that feels really good I have to be honest, I used to hate it, but 10 years with out it sure makes you appreciate it)

I am going on a cruise to the Bahamas in 2 weeks. If it weren't for the celulite I would totally rock a bikini. But I am so grateful that I get to take this smaller more authentic version of myself, instead of dragging along that heavy miserable fat girl I was a year ago.

This was so encouraging. I thought I was the only slow loser. I had surgery February 28th ; I have lost 80lbs and am 50lbs from goal. The weight is coming off slow and steady.

In October I started exercising every day but I can't seem to find the right foods.

  5. I work out 7 days. I workout hard and sweat a lot. I sweat in my head. I need advice what I can do to keep my hair. I don't want to make my hair my excuse not to workout(which I've done in the past). I also want to be able to swim when the weather permits or on vacation.

I need to keep my hair up for work and just daily maintenance. I used to wear a doobie but with my intensity it doesn't keep. I've worn Senegalese twist but my hair grows very fast and after a month I looked like a chia pet with twist. I have sew-in now and I hate it.

I am leaning towards dreads but am nervous. My hair is a decent length and I worry about having to start all over if I don't like the dreads.

What does everyone do about hair?

  6. I am happy i found this thread. I am a ssssllllloooooowwwww loser. I was sleeved in February and the scale just got to the 60lb mark.

I get so jealous of the people who lose much faster. I think I held myself up not getting my Protein like I should. I started the Atkins diet hoping to improve my weight loss. I go to the gym 7 days a week.

If Im going to struggle to lose the weight I may as well be well toned as I do it.

  7. I felt like I was super informed going into the surgery. I just knew this surgery would be the tool I needed to change my life! My life is a lot different now in many good ways since the weight loss. I am married with 1 child and in my late 20's. My heaviest was 272. I lost naturally and went to 230. Then a had a baby and was 244 a year later on the day of surgery. Today I weigh 160 in a size 6. I'm 5'6". My lowest was 155 but only for about 2 weeks. Big boobs and butt... are gone sadly. Lol.

Does anyone have any questions? I'm an open book and here to help.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Did you keep track of your month to month loss if so what were you averages per month.

I am 7 months out and have only lost about 55lbs. I work out every day, cardio 7 days and strength 3-4 days. I eat okay except for my recent love affair with ice cream.

I do notice the inches melting away.

    Surgery date 2/26/13

    Lost 76lbs in 5 months.

As I get closer to goal I may adjust. Originally I thought 150. But I am thinking even 160 would look fine on me. Maybe around 158 with a 2lb bounce. So 156-160 would be good.

Sorry hit send to soon. I noticed you have a large tattoo on your forearm in your before pic. In your after pic its not there. Did you get it removed. If so was it because it changed after surgery?

  9. I am in the same boat. I've only lost 47lbs. I've done everything and decided to stop and let nature take its course.

I eat right and exercise 3 times a week. I get all my Water and then some. The measuring tape is moving well and I have challenged myself to build more muscle and lose more inches. I am willing to be a thick woman but I need to be a fit woman.

  10. I am 4 months out and I am sick. I was in Jamaica until the 2nd and I started feeling sick yesterday. I had no appetite, today I threw up in the morning and have been suffering all day with diarrhea.

I get a stomach virus yearly. When I started the process I was diagnosed with and treated for h. Pylori. I figured that's reason I was getting the annual virus.

Should I be worried or is a case of this to shall pass

  11. Feel so left in the dust...everyone is loosing so much that was sleeved the same time as me..yet I am in stall at 47 pounds lost since being sleeved 2-27...

Don't feel bad. I haven't hit the 40lb mark yet. I was sleeved 2/28. I used to get discouraged when i read what some have lost bu not anymore. I'm just happy to be losing. I worked with my trainer last night and its the first time in a long time that I looked in the mirror and saw a shape. My kangaroo pouch is going away.

    I'm thrilled

  12. Yes' date=' well in Jamaica. It's not common, very expense and not covered by insurance. Information and some of the food you all talk about is not readily available. It's so frustrating. I fainted last week at work and I'm still not sure if it has anything to do with my surgery. I think not I'm 5 months out but I have questions. My family doctor really not comfortable about the topic but he tries.[/quote']

I understand about the foods not being readily available. I would say eat in moderation. I am a Jamaican as well, though I'm here cooking for the family is rough. I am 3 months out and only lost 30lbs.

I stay away from dumpling (my favorite), yam and banana. I eat everything else but in moderation.

  13. Heya. I am coming up on 21 weeks post surgery' date=' this Friday. I have lost 39lbs. Averages to fewer than 2lbs/week. My loss has slowed to 1lb a week and I haven't hit 5 months yet. I was 250 day of surgery. I lost very little pre op, about 6 lbs on a 10 day liquid diet. I lost 8 lbs the first week and then settled into a 1-2 lbs loss weekly thereafter.

I started at a BMI of 48.4 from my highest weight. Day of surgery 44.3, currently at 211 lbs I have a BMI of 37.4. To be at a normal, healthy BMI I will have to lose 70 more lbs. So in about 5 more lbs I will be halfway there.

I started in 20/22 jeans and pants, size 18 dresses, XL tops. Currently in size 16/18 jeans, size 14 pants (mostly, some 14's are small) and size L tops, size XL or 12 dresses.

If it wasn't for inch loss and being able to wear smaller clothes I'd be way more depressed about my slow loss.[/quote']

You look great! You gave a me a light at the end of the tunnel. I was getting down about the slow loss. After seeing you I took out the measuring tape and I lost inches.

  14. What did u weigh when u got the surgery? Start there because those who r smaller will lose slower and r gonna lose less than someone my size who started at 308. Also ur working out which translates to muscle building thus smaller number cause muscle outweighs fat and so u may lose less on the number side but gain more muscle. Look at ur body tone and measurements before u feel bad.

For me there is no truth to larger people loose faster, I weighed 320 @ surgery and I'm losing at a snails pace.

I figure we are all different and will loose different.

  15. I noticed just about everyone here has lost at least 50lbs except me. I am doing everything I'm supposed to and excercising 3 times per week (Mostly weights). Does anyone know why I am not losing as much as everyone else who got the surgery around the same time?

I haven't lost 50lbs haven't even got to 30 yet. While its discouraging at times I'm going to keep trucking on.

I also workout 3days a week. Sunday is zumba for an hour, the treadmill and elliptical for 20 minutes each. The other 2 days I do 45 minutes on the treadmill and 30 on the eliptical. I do some strength training my trainer taught me every night at home and when I go to the gym.

I eat 800 -1200 calories in a day, drink my Protein and my Water.

On the plus side I am easily down 2 sizes I tell my kids the fat is shifting. Lol

  16. What we all have in common is a lower starting weight at surgery. I was 220 when I had mine. I knew right after surgery that I would have to incorporate the same level of exercise I did when I was losing on my own. The difference being' date=' there is no more "falling off the wagon" which I am ecstatic about. No more losing 30, gaining 20, etc. It may take longer to lose, but to always be moving in the right direction was definitely worth it. Best of luck everyone. I am focusing on more exercise and more Water. Take care.[/quote']

    My starting weight was 326
