  1. I don't have any comorbidities. No high blood pressure, nothing. I do have a BMI of over 40. I 5'5.5" and weighed 270.5 when I started this process in July. My insurance has strict guidelines and extensive pre-op diet and health testing. I have blue shield of California. They approved mine. Basically there were 2 cases which would qualify one for surgery: a BMI of over 40 OR a BMI of under 40 with 2 qualifying comorbidities. So to say her insurance want pay without comorbidities may not be true. Especially of its already been approved. It sounds more like an assurance of payment should the insurance back out (rare).
  2. Yeah baby! I too am on the 27th. Today is day 4 of pre-op. Soooo much easier than first 2 days. I finally have my energy back and feel like I can make it. Im on 900 calories a day and 70 g of protein. Im down 7.6 lbs. Im hoping the hunger beast doesn't rear its ugly head again
  3. Im pretty sure that the doc is just covering his bases, in case for some reason the insurance doesn't pay. It seems on every medical paper I've signed there has been some clause stating billing insurance is not a guarantee of payment. They do this so they can bill you if insurance backs out. You should call just to make sure but if your insurance has already authorized the surgery it will more than likely be fine. BTW Im on the 27 th too!
  4. 22 .bs in 18 days??? Remarkable! Can you imagine gaining 22 lbs in 18 days??? Weight loss is waaay faster than weight gain and that's where our focus should be! Great job!
  5. Got it! LOL! I was getting ready to cheat a little...LOL
  6. Hey Moka Im on the 27th too! Its your life and you have to live it for you. Rest assured you won't be alone. We'll all be here cheering you on and you and i can recover together! Its nobody's business what you do and when the dust settles and you are healthier and leaner all of those stress will be water under the bridge. Hang in there for 12 days!

  11. 3/27/13. Done with day 2 of pre-op diet.
  12. Im on day 2 of a 14 day pre-op. 70 g protein and 900 cal a day. I have as many MEAL REPLACEMENT shakes a day to achieve that. They told me to make sure they were meal replacements and not just protein shakes. I've had a splitting headache the last 2 evenings. Im only allowed the shakes and sf jello, and some broth. But i was told to keep my calories at 900. Its nooooo fun!
  13. Hey kndi86, just wondering how you're doing?
  14. Im exhausted and feel sick. I have to get 70 grams protein and i just drank 2 glucerna shakes to reach 25 g so far today.
  15. Day 1 of pre op. Im hungry but Im hoping that in a few days my body will adjust. I guess this is the countdown. Im scheduled for the 27th!!
  16. Any response from the PA? My thoughts are with you.
  17. Wow. Thats too bad. did he have all the insurance requirements? Hard to believe if he did have to jump through all the hoops he would mess stuff up.
  18. What do you mean non-compliant? Did he not follow post op rules?
  19. Gosh, that is soooooo frustrating. I know because I had to call my doctors office everyday for 2 weeks to get them to fax all my stuff in. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Monday morning get started and soon all this will be a bad memory.
