    NSV shout outs

The only way I could fly on a plane.. was with a seat belt extender.. and some serious discomfort for the poor soul stuck next to me.. I stopped flying.. I drive everywhere... I mean.. everywhere.. so desperate not to get on a plane.. I drove from Dallas to New york and back.. and from Dallas to Cincinnati and back.. what on earth was I thinking!! 3.5 months post op.. I'm at a weight I was 5 years ago..and have voluntarily bought a plane ticket to NYC for this Memorial Day!! and hope to not need a seat belt extender.. and actually fit comfortably in the seat.. and not be a cause for frustration for the person sitting next to me.. ok.. it is not an NSV yet.. but "being eager" to get onto a plane.. and fly far far away.. has not happend in 4 years..
  5. I had the same thing.. one of the incisions looked really bad red/pink and swollen (for almost two weeks).. the others were ok.. and it was hard not to scratch them.. I used to apply a little coconut oil over and around the glue while showering to keep the area Water free.. and the glue stayed on longer (I wanted them to stay longer.. as i was scared i would scratch open an incision during my sleep) I'm 3.5 months post op.. and the smallest incision below my ribcage is barely visible.. others are fading too.. except for the swollen one.. it is the darkest and I'm sure it is going to stay a long long time..
  6. I've tried Big 100, Cliff, Luna, Atkins, Special K.. liked them.. and then looked at the label (old habits die hard ) they have too much sugar Right now.. I like the Pure Protein ones... so far these are the ones i found that have higher protein to calorie ratio.. (and a little less carbs than the others) they are a bit chewy for my liking.. but then that allows me to chew longer..so no complaints.. http://www.amazon.co...re protein bars PS: My surgeon OKied me for protein bars.. 6 weeks post op.. (the main reason being.. I could not keep any of the Protein shakes down post op.. they still make me gag.. )
  7. 25#s in 14 weeks! thats almost 2#s every week.. it took me a month to lose that 2#s.. I could surely borrow your shoes for a few weeks..

    BIG FAT PEOPLE!

I always thought that I was not addicted to food.. One reason I still think so.. is because.. after having the sleeve.. I dont really miss food.. all I really miss is chuging water.. food.. not really! I go out with friends to buffet lunches and I expect to feel depressed or something.. but don't.. But the scale has a different story to tell.. I have no linking for carbonated drinks before.. do not drink alcohol...don't smoke.. even without the sleeve.. I was eating less than 800 calories a day.. that low calories was partly because I worked/studied for atleast 16 hours a day.. and did not care much about eating when I was working.. lunch was my only meal.. and slept for less than 4 hours each night.. But.. then came the weekends.. and I would eat.. breakfast.. lunch.. and dinner.. well under 2000 cals.. but more than twice of what i used to eat the rest of the week.. umm.. and I wondered why I was gaining weight! all I am eating is a salad for lunch each day! I screwed up my metabolism.. thats' why! Just before I had the surgery.. I took a new job.. and don't work for more than 8 hours a day.. I sleep for atleast 7 hours each night.. (havent been able to do that for the last 11 years..) I actually get in more calories now after the sleeve..but not sweked towards the weekends.. So..honestly..now.. I dont know if I am addicted to food.. am I?
  9. I weigh in daily.. and record to a spreadsheet.. and i record my measurements every week or if i have been gaining weight for over 2 days in a row.. I record my weight on lose it.. only when i lose some..
  10. mwrarr.. the same thing happend to me.. you are right it is only because of the IV fluid.. dont worry about it.. just rememeber to walk around a bit..(more to help witht the gas pains..) and this weight will fall off in less than a week..

    ____ years old and never...

wow.. I was reading through the thread and have tears rolling down.. I.. turned 29 this January... and have never... really liked myself or let anyone like me. been in a relationship since high school shopped outside the plus size sections of a shop owned a full size mirror (I hate looking at myself) been not fat/obese since being a teenager (this is really hard to admit) had sex! (i hate the way i look too much to let anyone near me) been on a vacation wilingly.. believed that someone can be in love with me.. and yes.. never been waxed went zip lining.. i tried it last november.. but was turned down due to my weight learnt to swim But i do have one blessing.. my mother.. she actually went on the pre-op and the first few weeks of the post op diet with me to make me feel comfortable. I would not have made it through this surgery without her.
  12. Hi.. I'm 11 weeks post op.. and notice an odd eating habit.. Before being sleeved.. I loved eating food that was cold.. yogurt, milk, cold Soup and salads! I would cool down everything before eating It would hardly take 15 minutes to finish my favorite yogurt serving.. Now! I have one open for over 4 hours.. (14gms of delicious Protein right there!).. but every spoon I try to get in.. feels repulsive. I only want to eat food that is hot or at least warm (my mom would love that!) Has this happened with anyone else????
  13. thank you.. i hope mine changes back too.. i hate heating my food every 20/30 minutes just so that I can take a bite!
  14. I think this started troubling me when i started trying soft foods.. 3 to 4 weeks ago.. But i recall.. i could not drink my apple juice at the hospital until it reached room temperature. so maybe it started then.

    mayonnaise

I agree with Sleeve of Steel.. and fyre_storm... i always have regular and the fat free kind in stock.. just that even a teaspoon of regualr mayo/ranch/or anything.. these days.. kinda makes me feel guilty..with all kinds of "what if" questions.. honestly.. I hate low fat/fat free stuff.. i feel like a lab rat when I look at the ingridients list.. will have to reason with my guilt.. that is not going to be easy..!

  19. Hi JORD.. I got sleeved on Jan 10th this year.. and had my gall bladder removed at the same time (and also had hiatal hernia repaired..)... there were two big stones.. and the surgeon had said that they were too big to be dissolved using medicine.. and even if we did.. the chances of them re-occurring due to being sleeved will be higher.. surgery wise.. this was my first one.. so don't have anything to compare it too.. but diet and pain wise.. i do not see much difference.. the only thing i notice is that i get dizzy if i try to eat something high in fat.. but i think it is mostly due to dumping..

    skim milk

Hi Kylea.. I used to have about 2 cups of skim milk a day.. it was the major contributor to my proteins.. i could not keep the clear liquid protein drinks down.. I also used to have fat free yogurt.. thinned/whisked with 2 parts water..
  21. Hi.. @itstheamarie.. I live in Addison too.. was sleeved on Jan 10, 2013..

  23. Hi.. I have been packing up about 15-20lbs every year since my teens.. been on a lot of diets and exercise plans for as long as I remember.. but over the past couple of years.. i just gave up.. and decided never to step on to a scale.. i used to work 18 hours a day just to keep me off food and people.. stopped going out on vacations unless I can drive there.. i would not fit in a airplane seat.. a movie theater seat.. my friends had to make special considerations to fit me into their plans.. I was rude to keep away from people.. i was known to be the always polite and soft spoken person.. and hated what I had become. I weighed 268 lbs when I gave up.. well.. one day.. could not resist and I stepped onto a scale.. I went from 268 to 299.5 in less than 2 years.. I was killing myself.. That was the day I googled for a WLS doctor and made an appointment.. I was sleeved on 01/10/2013 and weighed 286 on the day of the surgery.. 2 months out.. and a stall of 6 weeks later.. I'm 263lbs.. I have a long way to go.. but now I have hope!
