  1. I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow!! My period is due on Sunday?? I feel no signs of it coming other than bloating... Wondering if the sleeve affected your cycles!!! I really hope I am not late or too late!! I have a birthday trip to Vegas middle of April!!!

actually I'm a month out as of yesterday and when I went to the hospital for my surgery, i started my period. before then, my period was a bit funky, just spotting and not regular, but low and behold, my period showed up Monday right on time and unusually heavy. so i think the only thing is probably that it's heavier than usual for me. it showed up on time surprisingly. made me gain a kg too ㅠㅠ

  2. Help ㅠㅠ

I haven't lost anything in the last 3 days!!

I'm only 1 week out too!

I lost 8lbs this week and I know that's great but I'm wondering why I'm not losing now.

Also! I wonder about what each pain means. I can't tell if the pain means I'm full or if it means that my stomach doesn't like it.

    Any thoughts?

edit: guess i should mention I'm low BMI and my doctor put me on soft foods/mushy foods after 3 days. i waited at least 5. started eating mushy foods and stopped losing. could that be the problem?? and no bm yet...

  3. How are doing with having to go this alone? I know you went back to work very soon after! Your a strong willed woman!

I'm doing pretty good actually! Not much pain, still trying to figure out how much to take in. Slowly taking in liquids and Protein but trying hard.

I do start work back up this following Monday and nervous cause I'm getting exhausted from lack of energy. 2nd grade teacher and it's going to be interesting.

I've lost about 3kg/6lbs since Tuesday when i weighed at the hospital so yay!

I can't wait to see where my sleeve and i will go!

    Good luck everyone!!!

  4. Hi again!

Sleeved on the 27th. I thought I would be sleeved around 5pm but they came in around 1:30 or so and were like, let's go! Haha i was shocked and felt immediately nervous. A few tears leaked down as they wheeled me into the operating room. Put myself onto the table, they hooked me up and i was glad they gave no warning about being put to asleep. Just remember my face going hot and then woke up i guess in the icu. Definitely felt pain. Ugh! Was transported to my room and my legs got wrapped around the machine to pump them. Woke up around 5 pm.

Later on they gave me some pain shots, and unfortunately my stomach hated that. Was vomiting foam after every shot. My fiancé finally made it around 9 pm and took care of me. Finally went home on Thursday.

Wasn't allowed to walk much the first day and couldn't really the next day because of how tired i was.

I've been trying to figure out how much i can actually drink without vomiting. Home now and just taking it slow. Day 3 and not much pain. sleeping on and off. I begin work on Monday so I'm trying to rest as i can.

I really can't believe I did it! Crazy that it's done!!

Good luck everyone with trying to adjust!

  6. I'm getting nervous!! I got admitted into the hospital in Seoul (so already Tuesday the 26th) and having surgery tomorrow afternoon, 27th. Sitting in the hospital waiting for over 24hrs is nerve wracking!!!! The doctors said i could eat and drink but only before midnight. Also found out they don't do leak tests so I'm not sure how i feel about that... I also JUST found out that I'll be giving myself injections. Awesome. ㅠㅠ

    Anyway! Good luck everyone!!

  7. Thanks everyone! I totally forgot about blood thinners! I think I'll schedule it for a month in advance if I can. Since it's a contest, then I can't really ask to wait for up to 6 months to get tattooed. But i will try to ask my doctor next week. ^^

  8. Hello everyone!

I searched through the forums but can't find an answer so thought I'd try this.

My surgery is next Wednesday, 2/27, and I just found out that I won a contest for a free tattoo.

I have several tattoos already and just want to use the free tattoo as a cover up of a tattoo on my wrist.

My question is: when do you all think is an ideal time after surgery to tell the tattoo artist that I can get tattooed? I need to tell him a date and won't be seeing my doctor again until next week so I'm wondering if a couple of weeks should be enough, if it just depends on my body, OR I would have another reason to wait longer (issues with something in my body because of surgery, etc).

I know there isn't much fat on wrists so I don't care about waiting to lose weight, I just want it covered when I can.

    Thank you in advance!!

  9. Question-has anyone not been given the 2 week pre op diet and only given 4 to 7 days that is a lower BMI? My surgery is Tuesday afternoon and I start on all liquids tomorrow. The nurse told me since I am at a lower weight that I didn't need to do the entire 2 weeks because it had to do with the size of my liver. I tried to start yesterday and I have no control. Has anyone HONESTLY not followed the pre-op diet?

I have a low BMI and my doctor didn't say that I needed to be on a 2 week liquid diet. He suggested I do a high Protein, low carb diet.

I've been trying to follow the 2 week liquid diet though and it's hard >.< So I've been doing Protein Shakes and whatever for dinner.< /p>

1 week before I'll be doing all liquids/ all Clear Liquids for sure though. I'm going to try to stay strong.

Anyone else with a low BMI and any more information on this?

Please let me know what your doctor says when you go in for your surgery? I still have 10 days to go... so excited!

  10. I'm glad i found this forum.

I'm on day 3 of the liquid diet and have cheated so far. Teacher's Goodbye lunches and Valentines day. No help whatsoever. Today I did really well. Only a few pieces of chocolates and 1 Peanut Butter cup from my students and 1 piece of bread with my broth. I'm glad I didn't have more. But it was making me nervous that I might have failed completely even though it's early.

I keep having to remind myself that this is in preparation for my surgery and in prep for my new life and that this is NOT a quick diet. I can't keep cheating. I've officially delegated my friend and fiancé to watch me and keep me accountable.

This is super hard!! Good luck everyone!!

  11. New position for us: He picked me up' date=' pinned me against the wall rocked my world.

New position for us: He picked me up and bounced me up and down on his thighs.

Love this whole cave man thing with him picking me up and tossing me around. That wasn't going to happen when I was fat nomatter how comfortable I was with the extra padding.[/quote']

I told my fiancé that when I get sleeved, that this is my goal. That he can pick me up during sex. Now he's working on bulking up too. Lol!

  12. Feb 28th- Puget Sound Bariatric!! My pre diet starts Valentine's Day...my wonderful man is giving me the best present since we have to self pay. I looked into Mexico but he wanted me to stay local plus it includes two years of follow up appointments. 5'6 230lb...good luck all!

My pre-OP diet starts Valentine's day too! Good luck!! I'm nervous but excited!!

  13. I've told my parents, my fiancé, and people on my tumblr (blog). My fiancé and I decided to tell my mother in law (cause she tends to cook a lot of food when we come over and wanted to give her a heads up lol). She told me not to do it and basically said i was crazy (in a joking concerned way). I plan to still do it but not tell so many people. I really thought she'd be supportive cause she wants me to lose weight but I guess not so I feel like everyone will be like her.

I think after the surgery, I'll announce it on Facebook. I want to be happy so I'm doing it for me, forget everyone else. I am happy to get support from the important people in my life though.

I hope others can get the support you need while going through this transformation.

  14. Hi' date=' Ladyluna, what tests are you having done? It probably depends on what you do for work and if someone can drive you. I had an endoscopy (upper GI) a few months ago and it was absolutely no big deal. In fact, it was almost fun. Let me tell you first, I am a total scaredy cat about medical procedures. I've never had surgery, never broken a bone, and never been in the hospital for anything. I was terrified of the endoscopy and the idea of something being put down my throat. Hello? That sounds horrendous, right? I don't remember a thing. They gave me an IV, talked to me for a minute, sprayed my throat, and I was out. Next thing I knew I was waking up and felt great. I did apparently talk while anesthetized, since it's a twilight sleep. I was actually have the test because I was feeling sick a lot, but I apparently talked about the fact that I also wanted to have surgery, because when I came to, several techs were smiling at me and congratulating me on my upcoming surgery with a slight giggle. It wasn't mean at all, but it really made me wonder what on earth I said. My throat felt the very slightest bit rough later, like maybe if you'd had a coughing fit. They did say not to drive for 24 hours because of the anesthesia, but that's it. I'm a highly anxious person, but I wouldn't spend a minute worrying if I knew I had to get one of those again. I know that I have to get an EKG next week at my pre-op testing, but that's no biggie. That's just laying still for a minute with Patches on you. Probably bloodwork too.

It might be kind of tiring to have to do all of that stuff all at once, but maybe if you could take a nap between that and work, you'll feel fine, and you'll probably feel fine anyway, depending on what all you have to get. With that said, I'm not a doctor! If they say you can't go to work that night, listen to the experts![/quote']

Thank you for the reply! I'm a teacher and usually just take the subway to work. It's only for a couple of hours so I might be ok. I'm not sure what tests they are but I think maybe all of them since they never said anything else about more tests after this.

I might just give my work a heads up that I might make it but will ask my doctor tomorrow.

I teach kids and they can be tiring so just wanted to make sure that it could be possible.

This is my first ever big surgery too so that's also why it makes me nervous. Haha!

  15. I've done the EGD. I have the rest of the stuff over the next two weeks. The EGD was a piece of cake. It literally took longer for them to prepare me (register' date=' IV, talk to anesthesiologist, etc) than for the actual procedure. I don't remember a thing and had no problems after. I was on my way home less than an hour after the procedure. I was scheduled for 0830, had to be there at 0700, got taken back to OR at 0930, was on the way home at 1015. Easiest thing I've done! You'll do great. Do you guys have to have a sleep study? That's the one I'm not looking forward to.[/quote']

I really don't want to be awake for it. Since it's my first big operation, everything leading up to it seems scary to me. Lol!

I don't need to do a sleep test cause i don't have issues with sleeping. I'm on the lower end of the bmi scale and no issues.

My fiancé is going with me thankfully. I hope it's quick for me too.
