  1. Aldo, I'm an RN in a day surgery area and went back to work on post op day 10, nobody at work knows I had surgery. I've never had a problem with food, fluids or physical demands. Early post op I ate yogurt every day for lunch and threw half of it out when nobody was looking!
  2. It's perfectly normal to have regrets at this stage. In time you won't be sorry. I'm 7 1/2 months post op, lost 70 lbs and I'm 10 away from goal. I can eat anything I want, just in smaller volumes. I follow up with my surgeon every 3 months for bloodworm, no worries about when to be refilled or if I'll have nausea afterwards.
  3. No worries, it's all perfectly normal.
  4. I'm sure he won't have a problem releasing you. Good luck!
  5. I took one week vacation. Had my VSG on a Friday so with both weekends off I went back to work on post op day 10. Had no problems at all other than needing a little nap when I got home. I'm a nurse so I do have a physical job...just made sure I had people to help me do the heavy lifting.

    Is It Normal?

Blood clots are the biggest threat but the good news is we can do alot to prevent them. You will get a blood thinner shot (Heparin) just before you go into Surgery. After surgery, get up and walk a little as soon as you can. Walk, walk, walk! Especially when you get home. The other threat is a post surgical leak. The quicker that is diagnosed the better. Your surgeon can give you more info on that but I was told the first sign us a rapid heart rate at rest. So when I was relaxed watching TV I would check it to be sure it was less than 100.

    Best Hot Cocoa Protein Drink

I'll have to try that, thanks!!
  8. LOL I hate the taste of alcohol and I can't remember the last time I drank it. The closest I get is eating chicken Marsala!
  9. Every once in a while, maybe once a month I take 200-400mg of Motrin for headaches or menstrual cramps. I take it with food and I haven't had any problems at all. My doc doesn't have a problem with it. He thinks it's too unrealistic to tell people to NEVER to something. Rarely doing something is much more realistic
  10. Since your weight loss is obvious, it's not unrealistic to say that you lost weight by totally changing your eating habits...no starches, no alcohol, lots of protein. I eat out all the time and nobody has ever questioned me. (Only my husband know of my surgery) I take tiny sips of water and take home 3/4 of my meal all the time. I joke and say my 14 year old is so happy I eat less because he always looks forward to my leftovers!

    All consuming

Yes it happened to me too. All thoughts led to my upcoming surgery. Once I had the surgery and got back to work (I stayed home for only 10 days!) the obsession seemed to subside. Now I actually sometimes forget I had the surgery! Unless of course I eat too fast or don't chew enough...then I get reminded real quick!
  12. When I finally hit goal I plan on at least speaking to a plastic surgeon about a breast lift. No implants because I like my smaller boobs Also I'll explore the possibility of having excess skin removed from my abdomen. It's not too bad now, so I'll have to see how much excess there is.
  13. I am 6 months post op, started with a BMI of 36. I've lost 65 lbs and I'm 18 away from goal. Went from a tight 16 jean to a comfortable 10. Best decision I've ever made!

    5 Confessions (Join In)

I love this confession post! I confess I have told nobody about my sleeve (other than husband, children, brother and one close friend) I confess I'm lucky if I exercise once a week I confess I'm starting to eat junk food at night I confess that I'm so afraid of gaining back the 65 lbs I've lost I confess I'm afraid I won't lose these last 18 lbs to reach goal I confess I never dreamed I would fit in a size 10 jeans, but that's what I wear now! I confess I walk past a mirror and now I smile! Now that I've confessed I can work on those negative things so I can realize my goals!!!

    Water argh!

I struggle with water too and pre op I had no problem. I find Syntrax lemon protein tea helps me get my water in. Also vitamin water zero is a nice treat and helps with water intake.
  16. My fitness pal is a great app to track calories, carbs and protein

    WLS Cover-up Story

That's exactly what I do. I've never been questioned on a restaurant. I had my surgery in April and I've lost 65 pounds. I tell people I started around Thanksgiving time and I've lost about 50 pounds.
  18. BTW I'm 6 months post up and down about 65 pounds.

    WLS Cover-up Story

I only took one week of vacation from work. Counting the weekends I was back to work on post op day 10. Told my coworkers I took a "stay-cation" . I'm almost 6 months post op and I have lost about 65 lbs. I tell people I've lost about 50 lbs. tracking my food on My Fitness Pal. High protein, low carb and 1200 calories a day. Early post op when I went to lunch I had plain yogurt in from of people (dumped half of it out before they sat down!) I'm a nurse in a surgical area and we do lots of bariatric surgeries. I hear how judge mental my co-workers are so I had surgery somewhere else. Nobody's business.

    I can't handle the puddle!

I have that too, but flexes help...any type of spandex type camisole. Also I make sure my jeans are a little loose fitting at the waist. My spare tire inflates the tighter my waistband is
