  1. Just did W1D1. No problems' date=' but I am slow. :) I averaged 5 kph between the walking and running. That is about 3.2 mph. I was doing the walking at 5 kph and running at 6.5 kph and I did 2.5k in 30 minutes. I didn't even sweat much. But I know it gets harder, as I have done it before.[/quote']

Welcome and happy running! I am not very fast yet either. I am on week 8 and then I'm going to start the 10k program and since the first weeks are like the 5k I figure I will try and increase my speed then. Can't wait to see your progress.

  2. Ran outside for the first time since summer started. After some illness and injury I backed up to week 3 last week (I had finished week 8). I did w4d1 today and it was pretty easy. Did the run going through the park and instead of coming back at halfway' date=' I kept running. Walked all the way back, so I got a good 50 min workout in the heat. My next 5K is the Disney Haunted 5K on October 5th.

Also, got a FitBit Flex yesterday (Best Buy has them online). So far I like it, except the clasp is so hard to close. I think it will help me with my fitness goals. I've had a BodyBugg in the past, but I hated the monthly fee and the armband. Anyone else using a fitness tracker?[/quote']

Welcome back! It's good to see you here. I don't have a Fitbit but I have an UP band and I really really like it. It helps to keep me focused and to reach for another goal.

  3. The cat came back' date=' the very next day- the cat came back- he couldn't stay away

I did week 6 day 1. I just can't go back, it's like rereading a book or watching a movie twice in a month. NEVER, I say!! O_O

So I did this below. It was so soooo hot even at 8:15 pm-9. Humidity about stopped me but I kept on. Poured Water over my head when I got to the van.

    [/quote']

Congrats on moving ahead Amy. I do the same thing at the end of my run. The Water over the head is so cold sometimes it takes my breath away. Which actually feels good. (I'm weird I know it). Lol

  4. That's great that you have run in 3 races. I ran yesterday and instead of trying to breath a certain way I just tried to go farther and it worked. When do you plan on doing a 10k?

How do I reply with the message I'm replying to on my message? I'm on an android and I can't figure it out.

On the iPhone app there is an arrow in the top right corner of each response. Tap the quote button then it will place that persons response and you can reply under that.

  5. Thanks Lisa that is very good to hear. Going from 90 seconds of running to 3 minutes of running sounded hard but wasn't that bad. The hardest thing for me to master has been the breathing and finding a rhythm. Have you already ran a 5k?

I have done 3 5k's. Each time my time gets better. I know ill never be the fastest but ill never be the one who quits!

Your right about the breathing and rhythm. I have found when I let my mind wander and think on life it helps to just let the natural instincts of my body kick in and take over.

  6. I'm on week three day two of couch to 5k and I was wondering is it super hard when you get to week nine or is it not that bad because of the way it builds up? When I look at week 6 I think damn and then I see week nine and I think holysh!t.

I'm on week 7. I think the way the program gradually increases your running time is the key. Your body is getting used to the runs and if you don't let your negative nelly mind take over your body will fall into the run naturally. (All of this is IMHO) Even just 3 wks ago I wouldn't have believed I could tell you I ran for 25 min solid but I have!!!

Good luck and keep up the good work.

  7. UGH..Ortho says bad heel spur and stress fracture in the foot. No running for 1 month' date=' not even on the treadmill. New orthotic, says my good foot might not take much more pounding...bummmed. No nsaids either, just have to keep icing it. I may still try to run on Saturday though....not a all happy....[/quote']

Sorry about your foot. Hopefully resting like your told will heal it back to running perfection.

  8. I'm so proof of all of us! Who'd a thunk it' date=' us, running!?

I did it! I can't believe I went from 8+8 to 20 in 2 days. This app is crazy awesome! I forgot to stretch tho. I wonder how much damage is done. "/ I've never forgotten that again. I wanted to see how fast (er, slow?) my mile was, and I dknt think its too shabby.

I cried when I finished- couldn't believe it!!

    [/quote']

    Awesome job Amy!!

  9. Surgery was 4/17/13. I am doing c2 5 k with a friend. We have been doing it about 10 weeks. We've repeated days and weeks to make it through. I am now able to do 25 minutes if straight jogging without a break. Not up to 5 k yet' date=' I'm slow! Lol. But my friend is having trouble getting past 5 minutes straight. Still way better than week one when we couldn't run 30 seconds straight!

    As of today...down 61#[/quote']

Wow! You are going to town!! Awesome job. I'm just now getting to week 7 and the 25 min runs. I only run about 2.3 miles in that time so I'm slow too but I'm moving. I figure when I complete the cycle ill start over again and increase my speed. Keep encouraging your friend and tell her we're cheering her on.

  10. I got running shoes (in India of all things -- i am here for two weeks on business) so I am all set to get started! I may even get started while I'm here. I was surprised to find so e really comfortable Reeboks for around 40 USD. The same shoes would cost 100+ in Australia' date=' where everything is at least 75% more expensive than the US price. I am sure they are last year's model but I couldn't care less.[/quote']

Way to keep moving towards your goal! Your one step closer.

  11. Today is a rest day since I did Trainer and Water Aerobics yesterday. Going to run tomorrow morning and start over Week 1 Day 1! Those are all great suggestions Fiddle! Especially the water one' date=' because I forget that more often than not.

I reached halfway to goal yesterday and that damn trainer of mine let me Celebrate by giving me burpee's to do and amping up my workout..I could have killed him. Not really I think I am secretly in love with him![/quote']

    Congratulations!

  12. Good morning VST!!!

    Slacker in the house!!

    Anybody running today??

Just finished! Quiet week here last week. Trying to get things around for a trip to the desert. (Don't know what my niece is thinking getting married in July in AZ!). I know I won't get much training in for the last part of the week. I'll do as much as I can this week and jump back in next week when I get home.

    Happy running!

  13. I just got home last night too! Yes the altitude of 10' date='000 feet +, made things difficult..

I hiked a bit when we got to Moab (utah) though it was over 100 degrees but at least I was able to breath!

I'm eyeballing my treadmill right now. And just having a hard time even thinking about running :(

    I'm so tired!

In Moab those little dots are my husband and son![/quote']

Get on that TM and run girl!
