  1. I ran wk 6 day 3 and I'm happy I was able to run the 22 mins straight but I'm disappointed I only went 2 miles. Does it get easier to work on speed after you finish the 9 wk program?

I told myself that the speed will come slowly so I don't feel so disappointed. But I now believe I'm a runner EVEN at a slower speed. I am upping my speed .1 with each week on the c210k program. It does seem to be easier with each passing day. (As long as I listen to my body and not my head, lol). Sounds like your doing awesome. Keep up the good work!!

  2. Got inspired to try it after reading this forum. Today will be W1D2. I agree with Mistysj' date=' adjusting the treadmill is the annoying part! I hope to make progress though as my walk speed was 3.0 and my "run" was 3.5 :( Would prefer to do it outside but I'm too self conscious at this point to jog in public. Is it just me?[/quote']

It's not just you. I just finished the C25K program and I'm still running on the treadmill. I've started the C210K program and thinking seriously about trying to run outside but still fighting the battle with myself.

  3. W1D1 completed yesterday during 2:00PM Texas Heat in a hoodie :) I figure if I can make it in that then it should be pretty easy in a tshirt in the afternoon :) Going to try doing it again tonight after the trainer kicks my arse. Going for my first training session tonight too. Trying to get in shape for Air Force fit test!

Good luck! You can do it.

  4. Onto 10K & Speed. Week 1 day 2 done!

Boy it's pretty quiet here. Looking forward to the weekend. First weekend home in 2 months. We're taking the 3 yr old grandson and his parents to the zoo. Should be a fun day with family and lots of walking. I swear that little guy can out walk grandma! The last time we went to the zoo he walked the whole thing and according to my pedometer it was 5 miles.

    Happy weekend everyone.

  5. Learned my lesson this weekend... Running every day is a good way to get injured. Finished W5D3 on Sunday and on the walk home my knee started hurting so bad I had to keep stopping and let it ease up before walking for a little longer. I think I just overdid it. I've not been running for the exercise lately' date=' I'm running to take my mind off of a personal issue I'm trying to deal with. In the past, running has always been the way I deal with stress. Throwing my knee out through my back out a whack as well. I've also been working 14+ hour days the last week which has sent the nerves in my arms and wrist into a tizzy. I'm a wreck!

Thanks to Fiddleman my back is feeling better. I order one of those bed of nails from Amazon and its amazing how much relief they provide.

My knee seems to be easing up, so I'll probably get back running tomorrow.

Love my fitbit! Here are my stats for the last week:

Take it easy and don't start back till your fully recovered.

  6. W2D2 done! I ran at 8 kph (5 mph) and walked at 5 kph (3 mph). The first interval of the running was kind of hard' date=' but it got easier after that. The most annoying thing is having to adjust the treadmill. I wish I could just program in the top and bottom speeds and toggle it.

I'd like to work my way up to 10 kph running by the end so I could actually do the 5k in half an hour.[/quote']

    Awesome job!

  7. Week 2 Day 1 is in the bag! I found it actually a little easier than last week' date=' it's a little shorter. This makes me think that maybe Laura-Ven should try week 2 even though she is having trouble with week 1.

I took my running up to 7.5 kph (4.7 mph). Yes, it's SLOW![/quote']

Awesome job! Your not slow in my book. I'm still running at 4.0. I figured I would work on endurance then speed. I just finished my last day of week 8 so next week I will start working on increasing speed.

Congratulations on progression and keep up the good work!!

  8. Just finished week 8 day 2. Had to really talk myself through this one. After I made it to the halfway mark I just felt like I couldn't go on. I just kept talking myself through, saying you can do it, run through just one more song. Then another, then another & finally I told myself run until the one min left then your done. When I hit the one minute warning I just kicked into high gear and finished. Today was very challenging but I did it!!

  9. W1D3 done! I promise I won't post after every single day' date=' but I'm just so happy I'm doing this. I went 2.7 km in 30 minutes this time. I have settled in walking at 5.0 kph (3.1 mph) and jogging at 7 kph (4.4 mph). When I did this before, I think I was walking at 3 mph and running at 6 mph, so I would like to increase the running speed a bit more. Even still, I won't finish at 5K in 30 minutes. I may not ever get there, because I'm only 4'11" with short legs and a long torso. Walking faster than I am walking now feels REALLY fast to me.[/quote']

We like hearing daily from you so keep us updated. I post pretty much everyday too!

  10. Today was my first weigh in day after starting my birthday challenge and holy moly I lost 4 pounds and am down to 195!!! I exceeded all my goals for the week (64ou water' date=' 60+g Protein, 30min+ exercise, and log all food. It's amazing what happens when you stay on your program! I've lost 70 pounds from when I started preop and 78 pounds from my highest weight in Oct '12. I'm only 20 pounds from goal! I don't normally set weight lost by a certain date goals, but my birthday is in 9 days. I'd like to get to 190 by then, but based on my averages, 193 is more realistic.

Planning on doing W5D2 today if the rains clear off.

Does anyone else run on consecutive days? Do you recommend it or not? I've never been able to in the past because of soreness, but I haven't been sore this week since I started running every day.[/quote']

    Congratulations!!

  11. Finished W5D1 today. Still completing the workout and then walking back' date=' so getting 60 min of exercise a day. How is everyone else doing?

This is the first week in a long time (surgery was in Jan) that I am excited about weighing in. My weekly weigh day is on Thursday. This week I came up with my birthday (8/3) challenge to stay on program and get at least 30 min of exercise, 64ou Water, log all food, and get over 60g of Protein. I can't control my weight loss though, so I don't like setting weight goals, but I can do the things that I know will help me lose weight. I was at 199 (yeah onederland!) last week. Based on my weekly averages I will maybe reach 195 by 8/3. I haven't been that low in 20 years.[/quote']

Wow! You are an inspiration for me. I like your goals too. I never looked at it that way. Have always focused on the weight. Thanks for that insight.

  12. I just want to post a BIG thank you to fiddleman and butterthebean. You two are so helpful and informative for us beginners. I really enjoy reading every post and response you give. It is always a nugget of info I store away in my memory and use.

THANK YOU to everyone else here as well. Your all gems!!

  13. I'm not sure I could do the couch to 5k and circuit training in between. I usually walk the days that I don't run but circuit training would be to much. Your doing way better than me. Keep up the good work.

I don't do a heavy circuit training and I only do it for about 35 minutes. I just know that I need to work on my muscles hoping to help the flabby skin a tiny little bit. ;-)

    Thanks for the encouragement!
