Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
deedadumble replied to *Dean*'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
You walked 4 miles, did a workout DVD, AND did C25K??? That's crazy! No way I could do all that now and I'm on week 1 of bridge to 10K. I can't even run every day. I have to have a day off between runs. At this stage of C25K you need to be taking it slow and easy. Build up your time first by running at a pace that is slow enough that you can make it through the running intervals. Worry about speed later. Also, don't worry about Chi running at this point (ducking vibrams being thrown from the Chi lovers). Just do what feels natural to you. If you over-think it, you're going to burn out. What pace are you running at? I am a super slow runner and am doing good if I'm below a 14min mile. Here's a good article on slow running: http://www.active.com/running/Articles/The-Benefits-of-Running-Slow -
I see everybody because ignoring doesn't work on the iPad and I haven't ignored any of you!

I keep picturing you running on your treadmill with 5" heels on. -
Well hells bells, I have her ignored on the site, but she still shows up on my app.

I went into the browser on my iPad and logged in instead of going into the app.

Anyone finished up Couch to 5K and interested in a Bridge to 10K challenge? Just finished the C25K program and I'm starting the Bridge to 10K. My goal is to run a 10K in September or October and also to do the Disney Enchanted 10K in February 2014. Anyone ready to join me?

I tried to drink a Mojito yesterday, but started to feel drunk after about 2 ounces and had to throw it out.

5'11" and started at 265. Surgery was 1/17 and I'm down to 205. Wearing a 16 and XL, but 16's are getting baggy. Hourglass shape and losing more in my waist than anywhere else. Wearing a dress today in a size large for the first time in 23 years! Have you tried http://modelmydiet.com/ ? It will help you visualize what you'll look like at different weights. -

Most of the well-known bariatric surgeons in Mexico have done thousands more surgeries than those in the U.S. My guidelines say "No carbonated beverages or alcohol for 6 weeks." -

The person I bought my treadmill from last week just released a book that's getting national press. I was confused by the experience, but the articles about the book helped clear things up. http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2013/06/transgender-navy-seal-memoir/65823/ -

Saw some compression shorts at Walmart yesterday in the men's section. They went up to a 2XL and were $10. -
It's an app for an android phone that reminds you to take a pic of your face every day. Then it will play it back in a video so you can see the changes from losing weight.
-
http://everyday-app.com/ Would love to have used this app from the very beginning to see the changes. Going to start now. I'm at 4+ months out and have about 37 more pounds to go. Anyone else going to give it a try?

I ran for the first time on my new treadmill and it seems like I got tired a lot faster than running outside. Do I need to build up my endurance again? Anyone switch from 100% outside to treadmill have any experience to share? Maybe it was because I ran later in the day? Maybe it's because I can adjust my speed easier and slow down when I'm tired when I run outside. Overall though, I really enjoyed running in the AC. I love that I can glance down and see how fast I'm going. The new (new to me, barely used bought on Craigslist) treadmill is a NordicTrac x9i. Can't wait to try out all the features! -

It's where you stand on a large surf board and paddle with a long kayak type oar. It works your core, arms, and shoulders. Here's more info: http://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/paddleboarding.html -

Had a stand up paddleboarding lesson today. What a workout! My abs and arms are killing me! I really enjoyed it though. I would have never been able to do it 5 months ago. Coolest thing was I was on the beach drying off after and overheard a woman telling her husband and mom and dad that she was thinking about getting WLS (band). The dad had a pretty negative reaction (it doesn't work, people gain the weight back, etc.). I thought she might be open to some outside support, so I said I couldn't help but hear your conversation (I was sitting right next to them!) and just wanted to let you know there are lots of us having successful experiences with the vertical sleeve. They asked a bunch of questions (they had never heard of the sleeve) and then thanked me when I had to go. I am very private about my surgery and other medical conditions (my husband and my brother and sister are the only ones that know), so it was nice to be able to share with someone and maybe help them out in their journey. -
