For those who had their gallbladder out.....were you on Actigall after the sleeve to try help prevent the gallbladder attacks?
-
bHi! I'm 3 days out also. You sound a lot Like me. I have to take actigall and Prevacid too plus all my other regular meds. I also have to give myself injections to prevent blood clots. I'm still really sore too. I hope it goes away soon. I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck
So day 5 now, drinking is easier. Ate farina, cream of chicken Soup and 3/4 of a 14 oz Protein drink and 2 sugar free ice pops yesterday Still can only get one dose of Actigall in, supposed to have 2...so full and bloated all day and I need to mix it in applesauce or pudding. Soreness at largest incision definitely improved, hurts less getting up and sitting down and I was able to sleep in my bed and not in the recliner chair. Feel like maybe hit by just a car today and not a Mack truck.

July 22, only 3 days out....NO WAY near 64 oz, although my post op instructions are to "increase my fluids to a goal of 64 oz" I am at maybe 20 oz, I am "full" all the time and then I have to take Carafate, Actigall and Prevacid ....UGH!!! I did manage to suck on a calcium citrate today.

Everyone's insurance is different. Did you actually speak to someone and get the exact requirements? I also believe each surgeon has thier own requirements. I had to have a gallbladder ultrasound and a sleep study but his patients with blood pressure and/or cholesterol issues also need clearance from a cardiologist. Double check EVERYTHING before submission, it will help keep the process running smoothly.

Before I left the hospital they stressed to me the importance of walking and staying hydrated. Walking in side doesn't seem like I'm doing enough.
My opinion: walking is walking, inside or out. You may have walk around your house a dozen times but it is better than sitting

I am so sorry to hear you are in such pain. I consider myself BEYOND lucky as I had no gas pain at all. There was a woman across the hall from me in the hospital who was suffering terribly. My patient care technician said to me "God is with you my dear". I had Dilaudid and Toradol for pain with Zofran for nausea in the hospital. Home now, have liquid tylenol with codeine but don't really need it. I have taken some children's meltaway tylenols today. I was fearing the recovery.
I hope you feel better and this is a distant memory soon

I just came home last night. I took 3 mini walks outside today....about 2 blocks from my house and then the 2 blocks back. It wasn't easy but I knew I had to do it. I also have a pool table in my finished basement so I walked around it about 10 times while eating a sugar free ice pop...seemed to go down very easily while upright and walking.

Does anyone else feel hot today? Like temp-wise?

Yup...nesting, brought back memories from my pregnancies. My surgery is Monday. Did all the laundry, packed my hospital bag, filled the freezer with easy meals for my husband and son. Bought my Vitamins, Protein Powder, broth, Miralax, stool softeners and Gas-X. Trying to keep my mind occupied and remain calm.

I have Aetna, surgery is Monday. If you google "Aetna weight loss surgery requirements" you should be able to pull up thier requirements. I believe they wanted a 5 year weight history. BMI of 40 or higher with no co-morbitities, 35 and higher with 2 co-morbitities. I had to do 3 months check in with my surgeon, 2 nutritionist visits and a psych evaluation.
After submitting everything the approval process to 4 weeks

MOO....My Opinion Only.......Premier Protein RTD are delicious, tastes like chocolate milk to me meand an 11 oz bottle has 30 grams of protein! unjury unlfavored mixed in broth was undetectable to me, no funky Protein taste. The Unjury flavors were a disappointment considering the cost and the Unjury chicken Soup left an oniony or garlicky aftertaste that lingered until I brushed my teeth.
I am pre op and I have seen many who say their tastes change after surgery so I hope I like some of them post op.

When you say 5 shakes per day....how many calories are each?
I have the Premier Protien shakes, they are 160 calories each,30 grams of protien. I have not had more than 3 per day, thought I would need 4 or maybe even 5 but I have been good with only 3. Lots of Water, a sugar free ice pop and a few cups of chicken broth each day.

Have you tried Premier Protein RTD from costco, Sam's or BJ's? I like them, no funky Protein taste. I have tried MANY different brands and this one tastes like chocolate milk to me, even my 12 year old son likes it.
I did not care for the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup protein but I mixed the Unjury unflavored into beef broth and there was no funky taste.
Good luck.

I am on day 4 of a 2 week pre op liquid diet. Up to 5 Protein shakes a day, broth, Vitamin Water Zero, sugar free ice pops, etc. Please believe me when I say it gets easier after day 3. I would not have believed it myself yesterday as I was still miserable and hungry. I had my food funerals in the week leading up to starting the pre op diet.
PLEASE do what your doctors says. My Mom's cousin went in for Gastric Bypass and woke up with no surgery because her liver was too big/fatty to do the surgery.
Good luck!

I had trouble with Aetna too. They missed an entire visit. I went Feb, March, April and May for my required 3 months of care then submitted all the paperwork. They totally overlooked the April visit and said I hadn't completed the 90 days. A phone call and fax from my insurance coordinator straightened them out. Took four long weeks to get approved. Good luck

I was also told not to lose any weight, my BMI was 41, I lost 4 pounds pounds one month and I was just barely over a 40 BMI and was told to maintain that weight until submission. I wouldn't take any chances with approval.

If your insurance specifically tells you weight loss surgery isn't covered...

Can you opt in at your job? Some employers allow part time employees to buy medical insurance. Even if you only paid the premium for 6 months to a year it would be cheaper than a self pay.
