    This is so difficult!

My advice would be not to over think it too much. I eat the same as everyone else just a whole lot less. Whenever I go to my mom's for dinner she always wants to know what I can eat I always tell her "don't worry about it I'll eat something" I drink a Protein shake for Breakfast each day(by choice). I eat some type of meat and veggies, tuna or lentil Soup for lunch and I eat what ever my family is eating for dinner minus the starch. Snacks are greek yogurt, nuts, cheese stciks, etc. sugar free ice pops, fudge pops or pudding as a treat. The one thing I still find difficult is getting enough Water because I jus don't want it. I hope you find it becomes easier for you
  2. I am 9 months post op and I still drink a Premier Protein every day for Breakfast. There is no way I would get enough protein otherwise. I don't see the harm in drinking the shakes unles they are too high in calories. My surgeon doesn't want me to drink them either but when I told him the Premier has only 160 calories and 30 grams of protein he was OK with it.

    Shorties

I am 4'10" and I started at 200lbs. My surgeon said he thought I could lose about 80lbs with the sleeve which would get me to 120lbs. Although that is still overweight for my height I think I would be fine with that. I weigh 133 now and my size 10 pants have a little room and I am actually happy with the way I look in the mirror at this size.

    What was the point?

Just because you can eat a whole serving of cream of wheat doesn't mean you should eat a whole serving. You may not be able to feel your fullness yet because you are not totally healed and the nerves in your stomach are still healing. Follow your guidelines and measure your food according to your plan. I still do not eat 1000 calories a day at almost 9 months out. Once you move onto solid Proteins you will feel full so much quicker and eat less. You have reached the infamous 3 week stall....this too shall pass, I promise you.

    Heartburn!

Some yes, some no. I take Zantac daily now..but I took it before too. I do not know if I still need it, I haven't tried skipping a day yet.
  6. I told my employer I needed 2 weeks off for medical reasons. I do not work full time so there was no paper work to fill out as I did not collect disability or FMLA. It is none of thier business and you are not obligated to tell them. If disability or FMLA papers need to completed your HR dept is required by law to keep your confidence.
  7. Rolls of quarters in your bra, only take your shoes off if they tell you too. Leather belt with a heavy buckle on your pants. Eat before your weigh in. You are so damn close.....wishing you good luck!

    worst day EVER!

Have you tried Vitamin Water Zero or G2? I dranks lots of Vitamin Water Zero, helped with keeping electrolytes balanced and made me feel better.

    Heartburn!

Did your doctor give you a prescription acid reducer? I was on Prevacid for one month. Some sleeve patients are on an acid reducer for 6 months or longer. Yes, you can have Tums but you really need to make your surgeon aware of your reflux and get on something to prevent it and protect your esophagus. Hppe you feel better.
  10. I get that sometimes when I eat too much or too fast
  11. sugar free ice pops count towards your liquids, Protein drinks count towards your liquids. I couldn't drink plain Water for a couple of months so I diluted apple juice. Although there are carbs and sugar in apple juice I figured it wasn't enough to worry about if it meant I got my liquids in. Try different drinks at different temperatures. My first week or two post op I actually watched the clock on the cable box when I was watching TV and took a sip every 5 minutes, then the next day sipped every 4 minutes, next day every 3 minutes. It's tedious but it works.
  12. I'm just curious because I keep seeing mashed potatoes suggested by others. If were supposed to have Protein how can we be allowed to have mashed potatoes?? You don't need to worry about protein just yet. Mashed potatoes, ceam of wheat, applesauce, yogurt, cottage cheese. Are you drinking any Protein drinks? I drink a Premier Protein every day for Breakfast even at 8 months post op...start my day with 30 grams of protien.

    Apparently I disappointed someone...

I had a Facebook "friend" who made a post about paying for lazy fat people's surgery after the AMA declared obesity a disease. I replied telling her that she was ignorant and cruel and then promplty un-friended her. That's the beauty of Facebook, you do not have to tolerate ignorant clods. She private messaged me because she just simply could not believe I un-friended her and I hit the delete button...problem solved!
  14. Premier Protein is 160 calories and 30 grams of protein. My surgeon said that protein is 4 calories per gram so of the 160 calories in the drink, 120 of them is protein making it an excellent choice in his opinion.
  15. Many can not reach their daily Protein goals without a shake because of the small amount of food and calories eaten. If you can that's great. I am 8 months post op and I still drink a Premier Protein Drink every morning.

    Help! Best Shock-Absorbing Walking Shoes?

I do not have a pair myself but I have read on several different message boards that Asics gels are great. I have been considering buying myself a pair but they are pricey.
  18. My hair loss slowed considerably when I added an Iron supplement at night. Don't know if it was a coincidence but it works for me. Sorry to hear of your gallbladder issues, hope all goes well.
  19. I have read on here many times that liquids go right through, you probably wouldn't feel any discomfort due to the nerve ending still healing.....if you are concerned give a quick call to your surgeon's office and speak to a nurse. Sorry for your troubles.

    Protein bars

GNC, Amazon or directly from Quest's website. GNC has buy 3 get one free quite often. They are cheaper by the box but you can sample different flavors when you buy indivual bars in the store.

How long before you started working out?

I only walked around my neighborhood for about a month. My largest incision hurt/burned when I walked for that long. About a month post op I started riding my bike every night until it got too cold outside. I joined a gym at 4 months post op and I now go about 4 times per week. Don't rush it and don't compare yourself to others. Listen to your body and increase your exercise at your own pace.

  23. Mine was up to 5 Protein drinks per day, all the Water, broth and sugar free ice pops and jell-o I wanted. I drank a lot of Vitamin Water Zero to keep my electrolytes in balance. I drank Premier Protein which has 30 grams of protein per drink, I never felt the need to drink more than 3 per day and I made the jell-o but never ate it. I am not going to lie to you......the first 3 to 4 days SUCK more than you can imagine but it is amazing how different you feel after the 4th day. Keep your eye on the goal and you will do great. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
  24. Don't really think there is any way around it....they must eat and you must not. On my pre op diet when my family was eating I left the room and watched TV or read. It may be hard to believe but after the 4th day on the pre op liquid diet, your hunger decreases and it is easier to be around food and not eat it. Post op I had no appetite or desire to eat for at least 2 weeks so I had no problem with them eating in front of me. You can make some meals for them and freeze them so when you are post op you can just defrost and heat.

    Vitamin Advice

I am going to guess that taking them 6 times a day may be for bypass patients as they have malabsorption issues which VSG patients do not have. Did you get any paperwork/instructions from your surgeon or nutritionist? If not, I would call them to verify exactly what they recommend.
