  1. Rolls of quarters or some other kind of weights in your bra will add a little. I had no co morbitities as was exactky at a 40 BMI so I always worried too. My surgeon told me to absolutely NOT lose any weight!

    Question

Call your surgeon and get new meds. I had liquid tylenol with codeine and a ppi that disolved under my tongue. When my husband had kidney stones and the pain made his nauseous his doctor gave him an anti nausea medication that disolved under his tongue. No need to suffer through the nasty taste of crushed pills that were meant to be swallowed.
  3. What she said!!! I went to my consult with a list of questions and wrote down the answers. Good luck!
  4. How long after surgery? I had surgery 7/22/13 and flew to Florida for a 7 day cruise for Thanksgiving with no problems.

    I stink!

Did exactly that today....dabbed my underarms with a cotton ball soaked in white vinegar, air dried in front of a fan and then applied my regular deoderant. It worked!!! No odor at the end of the day! The vinegar smell goes away after it dries. Do not shave before you do this because it will burn.

    I WANT FOOD!

Can you have creamed Soups? Warm chicken broth sipped from a mug?
  7. I had a coupon and was going to try them but if I remember correctly they had quite a bit of sugar alcohols and I didn't want to risk the stomach issues they can cause.
  8. OMG.......yes!!! One of the best things, I keep looking at them in the mirror and can't believe it. Also, wearing wearing single digit size shorts.

    Protein bars

You can buy Quest bars at GNC...they are pricey.. I think $2.99 each. Sometimes they are buy 2 get one free. I like Premier Protein bars at Walmart, $1.18 each.
  10. Advil and Tylenol PM have the active ingredient from Benadryl I believe that is what makes you sleep. So, skip the Tylenol part and just take Benadryl if you do not have pain.

    Noob...

LOVED me some Coke Zero.......just gave it up cold turkey about a month before my surgery. I think that is the best way to go, get rid of the the temptation and the idea of "oh, tomorrow I can have a soda" and remind yourself of how bad that stuff really is for your body. I won't even buy it for my household anymore, don't allow my kids to drink it. Drink lots of Water. It is hard but you can do it!
  12. I am one of those who watch the coffee pot in the morning and can't wait for my morning cup! Post op I completely lost my craving for coffee for about a month or two. Now I drink it every day. I drink half caff as my preference but at times I drink full regular caffeinated coffee, even enjoying an afternoon iced coffee quite often now that the summer heat is here.

DENIED! : ( BY BCBS FED

My insurance company is Aetna and they require the BMI of 40 for at least 2 years....so if you decide to try to gain the weight to push up your BMI make sure it will be enough to get approved. If they do not require a history of a high BMI I would definitely consider gaining a few pounds. I never heard of not being able to appeal. Doesn't sound like your surgeon's insurance coodinator is very helpful and that is discouraging to hear. I wish you the best.

    Preop Diet...starving!

Can you have Vitamin Water Zero or Powerade Zero? I drank Vitamin Water Zero, it seemed to help with the headaches and fatigue because it has electrolytes in it. I drank so much of it that I can't even look at it now....lol. The first 4 days are the worst, like others have said the hunger really does seem to diminish after that. Try some hot beverages too, they seem more satisfying....chicken or beef broth sipped from a mug. You've got this!

Approval if insurance doesn't cover wls?

It's not a matter of being denied, it's a matter of your employer having a WLS exclusion. Even with your health issues unfortunately exclusion is an exclusion. Maybe you can talk to your HR person about changing the policy? Good luck, I hope you things go well for you.
  16. Did your surgeon send you home with any pain meds? liquid tylenol with codeine.....that is what my surgeon prescribed for me post op, it should help with the tooth pain. Maybe your surgeon or your dentist can give you a script for it.
  17. July 22 is my one year surgery anniversary....good luck, you got this!
  18. The Only person who can properly answer that question is your surgeon or primary doctor if your surgeon is not available.....please do not take medical advice from these forums. Call your doctor.

    Snack ideas

Not sure of your plan, carb or calories...but.....Almonds, apple slices with Peanut Butter, baby carrots, cucumbers or celery dunked in low fat ranch dressing, half of a Protein bar or Atkins Indulge bar. I hope this helps......sorry to see from your username that you are an unhappy sleever, I hope that improves for you.
  20. Only very rarely I will eat a McDouble with no bun.....about half of it is all I need. I love, love, love thier coffee. A one dollar iced coffee in the afternoon is a nice treat.(Splenda, no sugar)
  21. If this happens to me I usually drink Water to push it through. You can also try taking a walk, sometimws that helps.
  22. I was just barely over a 40 BMI with no co morbitities. My surgeon told me to not lose any weight during 3 month required visits with him. He said he didn't want to give the insurance company any out of approving me if I dipped below a BMI of 40 for one of the weigh ins. Each insurance company is different but I feel that the surgeon and the insurance coodinator are very experienced at dealing with insurance companies so I took the advice and didn't risk it.
  23. The only thing that worked for me was watching the clock on the cable box when I was watching TV. Every 5 minutes I took a little sip. Then after a few days I took a little sip after 3 minutes. Those little sips add up.

    One month out help

A rotisserie chicken from your grocery store is an option. The meat is moist and easy to digest. Omelets, meatloaf...anything really, like your surgeon said. It took a while before I could eat lettuce and you really don't want to fill up on lettce and have no room left for Protein. My go to when I am at a loss is egg salad, I love it. Also for lunch I will roll up some deli turkey and swiss together. If you are not much of a cook....does your grocery store have pre made food? Mine has a big variety...chicken marsala, eggplant parm, sausage + peppers, stuffed cabbage, etc. Just try to focus on protein and veggies and try different things to see what you can tolerate right now.
  25. I used the weight on the day I started the 2 week liquid pre op diet
