  1. Honestly, I would not have surgery in Mexico because I feel like follow up will always be a problem and in some ways that is more important than who/where you have surgery. That being said, it is a legitimate option for people who don't have coverage in the states and elsewhere. If it were me I would not try to justify myself to anyone. I might not even mention it to them just to avoid the drama until it's finished.
  2. They are OKAY, I have had them at my parents house but they are not very good, I wouldn't buy them for my own place and not because they are "bad" or whatever, but if I'm going to buy unhealthy, non-nutritious food I'm going to buy something thats actually good, not something that taste like a cookie that didn't quite turn out.
  3. Yep. People like to demonize one place over others or whatever but the reality is you can get something reasonable almost anywhere, we just don't.
  4. Man, dialysis is tough. Did you ever find out why you went into kidney failure with no warning? Look at it this way though, we are lucky we live in a time that it's an option though. Keep in touch with us here, I'm interested in how this all plays out.
  5. Is it possible your just sick? its pretty delayed, thats the reason I think that. I would go to the doctor anyway but I', inclined to think you have the flu or something.
  6. Normal. Joining myfitnesspal.com helps too, track your calories although that first stall post op is completely normal. I stalled for nearly an entire month when I hit that three week post op mark. I was eating next to zero calories too.
  7. This is one of those things you just have muscle through. Theres no trick to make it easier. Get extra sleep if you can and stay away from the TV.
  8. Why are you at the gym on a pre-op diet? This is probably isn't the time. I would stay out of there until you are recovered.
  9. I like unsweetened almond milk but to be honest, besides coffee I try not to drink my calories, and if I am looking I prefer regular 2% milk.
  10. Some people are OK with confrontation, some are not. I try to be as honest as possible, but in my 6 months on this site I have had a lot of run ins that didn't have to happen because I never took a second to take the edge off of what I was saying. There is a way to go about telling people the truth without being a b***h. It's cost me a little bit of reputation and as you can tell, people have downvoted (that star system) my profile because of it. I don't really care so much, but it is something to keep in mind if you are going to be an interactive member of this community.
  11. I'm really sort of ashamed of how I ate post lapband removal. I went wild. Anything and everything I could get my hands on went in my mouth. I ended up over 300 pounds proir to having my sleeve. I'm doing well now but I had a lot of issues with food post lapband because I had been so sick all the time that when suddenly I could eat without immediate consequence I did. DO NOT DO THIS. I was 275 at the time of my removal, I gained over 25 pounds. If I hadn't gained that weight I would be closer to 200 pounds right now, not 239. You only set yourself back.
  12. Thats hard, we all want to be acknowledged for our weight loss, but the truth is, almost no one noticed mine until I had lost nearly 40 pounds. I haven't gone back in your profile to see what type of losses you have been experiencing but thats just something to keep in mind. Also, in a lot of circles, commenting on peoples weight is extremely uncouth, even if it is concerned a positive change. She might not agree with surgical methods of weight loss too, and that is her prerogative. I wouldn't over-think this too much. If shes a good friend, let it go. She might be struggling herself. Sometimes its hard to see people we are close to doing better than us.
  13. I'm nearly six months out and how much I can eat widely depends on WHAT I'm eating. For some reason I can eat a huge amount of salad even if I'm not piling on the dressing, but I had BBQ the other day, ribs smothered in sauce, and I could eat about a half cup of that.
  14. In my (medically educated) milk of mag is the magic bullet of constipation. Try this, have a cup of coffee with your milk of mag, and go for a short walk around the block. If your not feeling the urge to go, wait a while and do the same thing again.
  15. I decided to keep things to myself as well, sounds like your audience would have been sympathetic but still, if you want to keep it to yourself then you should keep it to yourself.
  16. i could not stomach anything cold but warm liquids went down like a charm. I would try that. Don't lose heart though, no one feels good at 6 days out, especially if there were complications causing a prolonged hospitalization.
  17. I had very little inflammation but I had a little bit of lettuce at about 4 or 5 weeks out.
  18. Something about this is really amusing. Yeah, you can tolerate a LOT of things you shouldn't eat. You were very mislead of you thought it would be any other way.
  19. Doesnt matter, actually. Boogie size often doesn't even have any relevant effect on the final size of the sleeve because of over-sewing and whatnot.
  20. What did you lose prior to surgery? Most of us count our preop dieting weight loss into our total. I had surgery in january, and technically since surgery day I have lost 37 pounds but the weeks prior to surgery I lost quite a bit, bring my total to 56 pounds which is the number I ALWAYS USE. If you didn't bother with a preop diet or were not instructed to go on one, you seem to be right on track as far as I can tell.
  21. Semantics. You've never hit a stall that you have noticed. That being said, its still good. If that works for you thats fantastic. For a lot of people that doesn't work out very well because since weigh in is so far away we are not careful then we crash diet the week before weigh in. No good.
  22. I agree, this does get to me, HOWEVER... Sometimes I feel like the search funtion isn't that great. I remember when I was a noob trying to read about the dreaded week three stall and I did find SOME posts, but not a lot. I'm certain there was more on this site about that topic but I was having a hard time uncovering it so I try to be understanding and my week three stall was extreme, it last three weeks for a total of nearly 4 weeks with incredibly minimal weight loss, I can see why that would disturb people as it did me. What I REALLY get sick of are "omg I ate a whole can of soup" (why did you sit down with a whole can of soup?) and posts about hair loss I don't know why those particular posts grate on my nerves so much but they do.
  23. Eating constantly basically. Regain IS POSSIBLY. I knoew for certain I could graze all day and gain weight. It can happen to anyone.
  24. WOW! I did NOT know that. I might check them out when I can sqeeze myself into a size 14 anywhere else lol. I have never seen a 16 at the J. Crew store near where I live but I never looked closely either because I just kind of assumed they didn't have it. Very cool. I'll have to get back to my model-skinny diet so I can get my ass in there.
  25. I see, you do not have a vertical sleeve, you have a band. I was interested in this topic because there are not a ton of confirmed cases of SLEEVE dilation although with bariatric patients, where there is a will, I believe there is a way. Some say that streaching the SLEEVE is not really possible. When you have your sleeve they will be removing the dilated portions of your STOMACH, as for your esophagus I don't think thats possible.
