  1. OREOS make me so freaking sick now, I don't understand why. Oh well. One more reason not to eat them.

  2. I love this site but it does have its limitations. For example, the model only goes so large, and only so small. There seems to be no different if I make my goal weight 125 pounds or 115 pounds. I'm genunly curious what I would look like if I weighed 115 but have no way of knowing. Not a big deal though, just saying.

    Have to be re-sleeved!

I was a band patient too, it complicates things. It seems like we are more prone to hernias. Luckily its a pretty easy fix, sorry you have to go under again though. just an FYI for anyone reading this, a really good way to avoid hernias is to NEVER overeat. Easier said than done I know, but its a big contributing factor. Lots of people have them and don't even know it, but if you are having a hernia + reflux its not fun.

    salads

I tried salad as soon as I was given the go-ahead to eat solid food. It was and continues to be one of the easiest things for my stomach to tolerate and I am 6 months post op now.

    Plastics BEFORE pregnancy?

If you are planning on having children I would hold off on plastics. Also, most surgeons would like for you to be at or near your goal weight and maintain that for a reasonable amount of time before they operate.

    Anyone else gain weight?

I had my first gain this week. 3 pounds. It's strange because I haven't really changed anything but I have been feeling bloated and constipated. I realize this is an old post I am commenting on but I figured I would say something now that this group is 6 months post op. Maybe I will make a new post for gains.

Why do I hate myself NOW?

I relate to this so much its not even funny. I have lost 64 pounds and yet somehow I'm not happy. Last night I was nearly in tears because I was feeling so ugly or .... out of place in my own skin.
  8. Honestly, I would not have surgery in Mexico because I feel like follow up will always be a problem and in some ways that is more important than who/where you have surgery. That being said, it is a legitimate option for people who don't have coverage in the states and elsewhere. If it were me I would not try to justify myself to anyone. I might not even mention it to them just to avoid the drama until it's finished.

    It's Like They're Daring Me...

They are OKAY, I have had them at my parents house but they are not very good, I wouldn't buy them for my own place and not because they are "bad" or whatever, but if I'm going to buy unhealthy, non-nutritious food I'm going to buy something thats actually good, not something that taste like a cookie that didn't quite turn out.

Dunkin' Donuts is my Postop Friend?!

Yep. People like to demonize one place over others or whatever but the reality is you can get something reasonable almost anywhere, we just don't.

Found hard place amongst the rocks

Man, dialysis is tough. Did you ever find out why you went into kidney failure with no warning? Look at it this way though, we are lucky we live in a time that it's an option though. Keep in touch with us here, I'm interested in how this all plays out.

    COMPLICATION ?

Is it possible your just sick? its pretty delayed, thats the reason I think that. I would go to the doctor anyway but I', inclined to think you have the flu or something.

    Not losing :(

Normal. Joining myfitnesspal.com helps too, track your calories although that first stall post op is completely normal. I stalled for nearly an entire month when I hit that three week post op mark. I was eating next to zero calories too.
  14. Doing AWESOME. I'm lighter now than I was when I started nursing school.

    scared nervous and hungryyyy

This is one of those things you just have muscle through. Theres no trick to make it easier. Get extra sleep if you can and stay away from the TV.

    omg...

Why are you at the gym on a pre-op diet? This is probably isn't the time. I would stay out of there until you are recovered.

Dairy vs. soy vs. almond milk?

I like unsweetened almond milk but to be honest, besides coffee I try not to drink my calories, and if I am looking I prefer regular 2% milk.
  18. Some people are OK with confrontation, some are not. I try to be as honest as possible, but in my 6 months on this site I have had a lot of run ins that didn't have to happen because I never took a second to take the edge off of what I was saying. There is a way to go about telling people the truth without being a b***h. It's cost me a little bit of reputation and as you can tell, people have downvoted (that star system) my profile because of it. I don't really care so much, but it is something to keep in mind if you are going to be an interactive member of this community.

    curious how people are eating...

I'm really sort of ashamed of how I ate post lapband removal. I went wild. Anything and everything I could get my hands on went in my mouth. I ended up over 300 pounds proir to having my sleeve. I'm doing well now but I had a lot of issues with food post lapband because I had been so sick all the time that when suddenly I could eat without immediate consequence I did. DO NOT DO THIS. I was 275 at the time of my removal, I gained over 25 pounds. If I hadn't gained that weight I would be closer to 200 pounds right now, not 239. You only set yourself back.
  20. Thats hard, we all want to be acknowledged for our weight loss, but the truth is, almost no one noticed mine until I had lost nearly 40 pounds. I haven't gone back in your profile to see what type of losses you have been experiencing but thats just something to keep in mind. Also, in a lot of circles, commenting on peoples weight is extremely uncouth, even if it is concerned a positive change. She might not agree with surgical methods of weight loss too, and that is her prerogative. I wouldn't over-think this too much. If shes a good friend, let it go. She might be struggling herself. Sometimes its hard to see people we are close to doing better than us.

    Life after the sleve....

I'm nearly six months out and how much I can eat widely depends on WHAT I'm eating. For some reason I can eat a huge amount of salad even if I'm not piling on the dressing, but I had BBQ the other day, ribs smothered in sauce, and I could eat about a half cup of that.

    asking a crazy?

In my (medically educated) milk of mag is the magic bullet of constipation. Try this, have a cup of coffee with your milk of mag, and go for a short walk around the block. If your not feeling the urge to go, wait a while and do the same thing again.

    nearly spilled the beans....

I decided to keep things to myself as well, sounds like your audience would have been sympathetic but still, if you want to keep it to yourself then you should keep it to yourself.
  24. i could not stomach anything cold but warm liquids went down like a charm. I would try that. Don't lose heart though, no one feels good at 6 days out, especially if there were complications causing a prolonged hospitalization.
