  1. I was on three weeks of protein shakes and protein bars for my pre op diet. I lost 23lbs which was not enough to get me below a bmi of 50 so I had to pay extra. My Dr told my wife after surgery that they could tell I followed the diet as my liver was really small.
  2. I agree, I'm from Canada and it would have cost me around $20,000 to have it done at home. In Mexico it cost me $5500 because of my high BMI, or it would have been $4500. Also the doctors have only done the surgery in the hundreds not in the thousands that the Mexico surgeons have done. Good luck with what ever you decide.
  3. Well I'm 3 weeks pre op diet and 2 weeks post op out and down 50lbs. Man this is just awesome. Fitting into clothes I haven't fit into in a long time. Did some shopping the other day and picked up a 3xlt shirt instead of a 5 xlt. Hard to describe the feeling. Wish I would have done this years ago
  4. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
  5. I have to agree with Laura, If your that close to them I dont see why not tell them the truth, and ask that they keep it to themselves. It seems your putting to much effort into tring to make up a lie. Just my 2 cents
  6. My wife found me chocolate fudge chewables with 600mg calcium. taste awesome.
  7. I spent an extra 2 days in San Diego before I flew home to Winnipeg. My biggest problem was the build up of gas sitting for 2 hours 15 min at a time. We flew from San Diego to Denver, Denver to Winnipeg.
  8. After I booked and made the deposit my wife said you better not be looking for some one younger after you lose the wieght(she is 8 years older then me), I said I'll be more upset is you leave me for a fat guy. It was all in fun. She has been very suportive and been there every step of the way.
  9. Dr Cabrera and his team are great, I've had no issues since my surgery on the 17. Good luck
  10. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago, I started the pre op diet at 405lb. I was looking at the mini bypass at first and my surgeon sugessted the sleeve. I lost 23lbs on the pre op and I'm down 20 since surgery. I''m glad i did the sleeve and not the bypass. good luck with what ever you decide
  11. I was there 2 weeks ago for my Sleeve, the temp was around 65-70. I was in shorts and sandles and I'm watching the locals in parkas, ear muffs and boots. But I'm from Central Canada and its been cold here. I talked to a few people in San Diego and they say the weather is about the same yeaar round, 60-75. Hope this helps
  12. I went to mexico and paid on my own. I had high bmi and paid $5500. so far the best money i've ever spent. 20 lbs down since surgery on the 17th and 43lbs total since I started pro op diet on Dec 28. Good luck with what ever you decide
