The problem with popcorn is not that it is fattening, its because the hulls, (the hard brown crunchy part) does not get metabolized by your body. Just like coconut and most seeds, it comes out of your body in pretty much the same condition as it went in, hopefully that is. With full size stomachs we used to be able to drink enough liquid to flush things through. We cannot do that with our new streamline tummies! Undigested particles and fiber can get trapped in our stomachs and create something called a Bezoar. They continue to collect other pieces, growing larger until they cannot be passed through and have to be surgically removed. So, it would be wise not to eat it again! There are a lot of reasons we are not supposed to eat certain things now, other than just the weight factor. If you are going to push the limits, at least wait until you are much farther out and have lost most or all of your desired weight! WLS only works for a short time unless you abide by the guidelines.
Where did you hear this?? My NUT has popcorn on approved list of foods?
Just wondering?

Get rid of the junk in your house if you can't control yourself. Don't get me wrong, we all cheat, but within moderation. This is a lifestyle change and you have to learn to adapt to all foods and situations.
You may want to talk to your shrink if you still are having major issues with eating, it maybe a larger issue than just the food.
Good luck!!

Bariatric foodie has a website and she has all kinds of different recipes for different shakes. Check it out...I always find the colder the better, I never drink a Protein Shake unless it is blended with ice :-)

I am four 1/2 months out and I still can't eat bread!! Very small amounts, even pittas, wraps, etc. I end up picking all the Protein out and toss the rest, I don't even bother anymore.

I had surgery in Dec and I still have an issue with salad. Lettuce and me are not friends, I can have little amounts, but it really bothers my stomach. So I eat tomatos, cucumbers, peppers and carrots(carrots and I have a love hate relationship as well...lol)
My doctor did not approve any salads till I was cleared for solids and even then said to go real slow. Good Luck!

Thank you everyone, I hated to sound vain, but this is my hair!! Freaks me out when I wash it, I try to go three full days before doing that but when you sweat at the gym it's not always an option :-).
Thanks again!!!

Ok, so I knew losing my hair was a side effect of this surgery, but it is really happening to me! I may just lose my mind, I have taken Biotin from the day I had the surgery and I get 100-120 gms of Protein a day. Any other suggestions? I really can't lose my hair, I seriously will lose my mind.
Thanks for any suggestions!

are you running? I would give yourself a break for a few days and make sure your sodium intake is down. Try lots of Water today to see if you can "flush" your system.
If not I would get to a doctor, doesn't sound right.
Good Luck

Three weeks!! Wow! I was on puree at 6 days out, follow up at five days and then I was able to start. Every doctor is so different!

To gain a few pounds now to help you for the rest of your life may be worth it. I also had BCBS and I had no problems getting approved, just had to do all my pre-op stuff, I was just at 40 BMI.

Thanks, how long after surgery did you have that instant breakfast?
Sent from my iPhone using VST
part of leaving the hospital was I had to keep down 2 oz of this, so I was able to have it 2 days after surgery. You should be fine. Just check around the stores before you go, a lot of them don't carry the sugar free kind.
Really hope you start to feel better, the first week was pretty tough for me and once I was allowed purees I think that was my turning point. Hang in there.

you probably aren't getting enough Water. try to get in as much as possible(and I know it is not easy)
Also, my doctor had me on sugar free carnation instant Breakfast mixed with skim milk, that was my saving grace, took me all day to drink one, but it helped me feel better.
Good Luck, it does get better

try them really cold and don't use the premade ones! I HATE those! I do 1/2 banana, scoop of peanut butter(natural) and 1 scoop of chocolate Protein powder from Wal Mart. Need lots of ice and Water and blend...yum!
Or my new favorite is ice, Water, frozen pineapple or fresh and mango with vanilla Protein Powder, tastes like a smoothie.....YUMMY
vanilla with some frozen or fresh strawberries and 1/2 banana is good as well.
I have to have them ice cold or they are gross.
Keep experimenting there are a ton of recipes out there, you will find something you like.
Good Luck!!!

I am 4 months post op and I have been hungry from like day 4 on. I eat every 2-3 hours. Sometimes longer if I am really busy. glad I am not alone.

Always eat something at least 1 hour before a workout. I try to have a greek yogurt or a Protein shake or bar. Also remember to breath! A lot of times when doing a new activity you are worried about your form and you forget to breath! Take a break if you need to, you may not be able to keep up with everyone right away and that is ok. Listen to your body!
Good Luck! I love Kettlebells

Is quick ketosis like a low carb diet?
Yes a no carb, if you can diet. I had to do a 5 day 600 calorie no carb diet before surgery, you can do a modified of that and you will drop at least 7 lbs in one week. Just becareful that you are not working out while doing that, you don't have enough calories/carbs to sustain a work out.

do a quick ketosis diet and you will get there! Good Luck and congratulations on all that weight lost forever!

I have been hungry from the day I was sleeved. Just eat the right things and you will be fine :-).

My doctors scale is always different than mine. Don't be discouraged, go weigh in at the doctors office, or use yours as a starting point today and check again n a week :-). Good luck!
