I had surgery on Monday January 14th, 2013 I went home on Tuesday January 15, 2013 I was back at work. Friday January 18, 2013.

Teri do you like Tomato Soup? I am a HUGE Tomato Soup person, always have been. The problem is that most all of them have so much sugar that my NUT says it may make me sick. I found that there are some Soups in the organic aisle that come packaged in the little box containers that had about 50% less sugar than anything else I've seen. I got one that is tomato and roasted red pepper and i can't wait to try it! How much longer are you on full liquid? I have until Jan 7...

Hi Mel,
I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks following surgery. However, it almost did me in. I was weaker than a baby, and close to collapsing on a regular basis. I was absolutely not getting in enough calories - still don't know how I could with clear liquids and taking in a max of 4 oz/hour.
My doc's rationale for the 2 weeks of clears is to protect the stomach incision site. They never mentioned calorie goals - just clear liquid goals. It's actually something I'm going to bring up when I go back, because I don't think almost collapsing in the shower is what they had intended either!

@ anume that stabbing burning feeling is what I feel. I really hurts getting up and down or in and out of bed. I don't have that gassy feeling in my chest though. Good luck to you guys. I am proud to say I am off insulin for 2 days now and I was on an insulin pump. I am so excited. Lets keep our eyes on the prize.:-)

You ladies are right. I can't assume this discomfort will be forever. I am feeling better already just from bed rest. I'm scared to drink but I sip Water anyway. It's remarkable how I am not hungry at all. That is the good news. I am from Long Beach CA and got sleeved at Kaiser in Southbay. Where are all you ladies at in your journey?

Great idea to start this topic, my prayers are with all.

I'm 9 weeks out and down 31 pounds. It is slow but it is moving down so keep the focus.

Why Thats 4lbs a week, sure you wish it was more but before surgery when is the last time you lost 4lbs a week without starving yourself? Keep your chin up have you measured how many inches have you lost? Do your clothse seem looser? Remember this "Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over she became a Butterfly"!

I agree with Ms skinniness, it is your home you need to take charge and control over your life. Tell your family that no foods such as Cookies are aloud in your house, plain and simple. This is the time you need to start doing for yourself, the surgery was the first step. Stay away from the cookies. No one said you had to sit with them while they ate a big dinner; only you. Go into another room, come search on VST, watch TV, if they don't understand than they really are not supportive or loving of you; now are they?

I start my pre op diet on 12/26 also. I know the big picture is so worth it but I can't help but think I can't stick to a diet normally how can I stick to something so strict. I think through this journey I need to find faith in myself. I am so strong in so many ways but my weight has a hold on me. I look forward to breaking free.
