  1. I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow and am really having a hard time right now. Nothing tastes right, eating is just plain uncomfortable and i have to admit that i am depressed. I knew this was not going to be easy and would take work, but the reality of it all has set in, and i just feel like crying. To top it all off my husband is not being supportive at all. My weight lost should always be more according to him, and when i am down he says "didn't you know it would bee this way?" I just need some support from people who understand right now. Thanks for listening to me whine.
  2. I'm feeling that way right now at 3weeks. I think part of it is the heartburn. Good to know it gets better.

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

My steri strips came of at a week out. My dr said to take them off then if they hadn't fallen off yet. I was allowed to be on. Soft foods at 2weeks. I stay on Soft foods until 28 days. In my soft food phase I am allowed soft dark meat chicken.
  5. You might want to be careful of the advocare drinks. The meal replacement is high in calories an carbs. 24 grams of carbs and 220 calories. My dr recommends under 10 grams of carbs per drink.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

5 days post op and feeling great! Will be glad to be past the full liquids phase though.
  16. I guess it is time to formally introduce myself. My name is Amanda and I am a 32 year old mom to three beautiful kiddos 6,4, and 4 months. I decided to explore this route of gastric surgery because I am too young to hurt the way that I do. I can't keep up with my kids and miss out on too much of there lives because I am overweight. I started the process on December 4th with my consult with Dr. Daryl Stewart in Denton, TX. Initially I was going for a lab band, but after my consult my surgeon and I decided that the sleeve was the best route for me. Since I am self pay because my insurance won't cover bariatric surgery the journey has been a quick one so far. I went for my pre op appointment on 12/17/12 and then had my EGD and stress test on the 28th. Everything was cleared and my surgery was set for January 2nd, 2013. I went to the hospital on the 2nd at 6:00 and they got me prepped for surgery. The nurse did such a good job on my IV that I didn't even feel it. After meeting with the anesthesiologist and my Dr. They gave me some Valium to help calm me down before they took me back. I don't remember anything after the Valium until I woke up. When I woke up from surgery I remember feeling like I couldn't breath very well. They gave me some morphine and that helped with the pain and allowed metro breath easier. ( After that initial pain I really have been fairly pain free.). I was then taken to m y room where my moth and husband were waiting for me. It took me 5 or 6 hours to fully wake up from the anesthesia but after that I felt pretty good! I was allowed to have ice chips 6 hours after my surgery and I was allowed sugar free candy to suck on until then. Which was a live saver (sorry for the pun). I was released to go home at noon the next day and have been doing well ever since. I was a little bit sore on day three but nothing unbearable and my pain meds handled it nicely. I feel great today and am keeping down my full liquids well. I can't wait to be able to eat some soft foods, but I will follow the diet and let my stomach recoup. I hope everyone else is having and easy journey too, and I can't wait to read more of your experiences.

My journey begins. Post-op 4 days

The only timid I had a problem keeping things down was when I swallowed both halves of my pain pills back to back. It was just too much too fast. I space the halves out about 10 minutes apart now. They are a little bigger than an extra strength Tylenol.
  18. I am actually feeling pretty good today. A little soar but nothing horrible. I am pleasantly surprised:)
  19. I am 3 days post op and am a little soarer today than I was yesterday. This made me wonder, what was your worst day post op? When did you start feeling better?

    3 days post op

I'm still sitting in the hospital after having mine done yesterday, so I understand what you are feeling. It is kind of surreal to think that a part of me is missing. I feel good though and have high hopes for my journey ahead. I will be glad when I am off of this clear liquids diet. It is getting old fast. Hope you are doing well!
