  1. OMG, having the same thing day in day out sounds awful AND a way for the weight to come back due to deprivation. I would totally ignore that piece of advice. Variety is the spice of life, even after WLS. -Kendra
  2. Thanks for sharing! I had a similar experience following surgery- I could not stay awake. I was in the hospital for 2 nights and slept 90% of the time. I also hated the horrible dry mouth!!! -Kendra
  3. I have been told I can drink up to my first bite of a meal, but to wait until 30 minutes afterward. I honestly don't pay much attention to this rule. It's not an issue now, but it could be, so I've got to work on that. -Kendra
  4. The Special K shakes are a litte high in sugar. Can you make your own shakes?
  5. I am not nor ever have been a big coffee drinker- I would have to add too many extra calories to it for me to enjoy drinking it. I do enjoy a treat of a skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks every once in awhile, though. Last one I had was decaf, but next time I don't think I will bother with that- everything in moderation... -Kendra
  6. Yeah, there's no undies. You will likely have a catheter, so no.
  7. You are ANYTHING but selfish. You are doing this as much for your kids as you are for yourself. I really do think that people who are against someone having this kind of life saving surgery are either uninformed or are attempting sabotage because of their own insecurities. Good luck- liklihood is that all will be fine and your kids will have you for decades to come! -Kendra
  8. Yes, there are things I ate before surgery that are WLS friendly that I may never eat again, like lunch meat. Don't know why that is. I can tolerate pretty much anything at 9 weeks out, and eating has become less of a chore and I find myself enjoying food again little by little. The only thing that makes me nauseated is when I eat too fast. This has happened to me 3 times. You'd think I would learn, but I am so impatient. Gotta work on that. Sounds like you're doing fab! -Kendra
  9. If you wanted to get serious, you could probably sue. Violation of privacy laws, big time. I would at the very least put in a complaint. And by the way, your boss is a tool. -Kendra
  10. When my husband makes spaghetti I measure myself out 1/4 cup of noodles. I have been eating limited carbs like that and am doing fine so far with my weightloss. I am 9 weeks out and my sleeve tolerates everything so far. -Kendra
  11. Thinspiration city! Beautiful!
  12. I was being very supportive of you and resent being called a bad name. Part of being a parent means being an adult and being able to take constructive criticism from people who are concerned.
  13. Another Sonnastine! )))) I never can remember how to spell his name! -Kendra
  14. Ha! Same surgeon's office- I had Dr. Sonnanstine! Had surgery at Riverside 12/17/12. -Kendra
  15. Hi! Sorry, been without internet since yesterday!
  16. I have to agree about the restaurant booth thing- it would cause me anxiety wondering if I would fit. I'm sorry, that is something nobody should agonize over. -Kendra
  17. I live in Lancaster but work and go to school in Columbus. Nice to meet you!!!! I wasn't sure there was anyone from central OH on here. Cool! -Kendra
  18. I have "The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook". Lots of family-friendly recipes, quick and yummy. I am 9 weeks out and just starting to "venture out" of the pure-protein-100%-of-the-time thing, since I am cleared for all foods. You can always tweak the recipes if they seems too high in carbs. I love this cookbook! Also, Hungry Girl cookbooks are awesome! Happy Cooking! -Kendra
  19. I can really relate to the slip on shoes!!! LOL -Kendra
  20. It's a stall, that's all. Consider yourself lucky this is your first one. You will have to get used to the fact they will happen. Stay on track, and try not weighing every day. I know that's hard, but believe me, it helps your sanity. -Kendra
  21. I am only 8 (almost 9) weeks out, but what has been hardest for me has not been physical (I had no complications and apart from becoming nauseated a couple times from eating too fast, I am finding my sleeve tolerates anything), the mental part is what I am struggling with. I am having to change habits that brought me comfort (although short-lived) for 30 years. When stuffing your face was what made you happy (again, momentarily), not being able to stuff your face is a rude and unwelcome awakening. I am back to seeing my therapist to deal with this issue. Physically, I echo what Laura-ven said- constipation is an extremely annoying side-effect. Good luck on whatever you decide. I have no regrets. -Kendra
  22. I am going to be honest here- I was also not required to do a pre-op diet. I lost 23 lbs before surgery without much effort- we were on a tight budget and stopped eating out. I also quit eating late at night (I work 3rd shift). That seemed to do it. I still pretty much ate what I wanted. I didn't have a "last meal", either. BUT, I don't see what harm there is in picking one food you really like that will either be off-limits or in very limited quanities post-op and eating what you want of it. Or going out for ONE dinner at let's say, Olive Garden. Just my two cents. -Kendra
  23. I totally understand you're excited, and that is so awesome that you're in good health! Is there a way for you to maybe just wait like 6 months? I only say this because at 6 months post-op you will be able to get in more nutrition, which would be better for your baby. Good luck to you! I am hoping a healthy pregnancy is in your future! -Kendra
  24. I third the wheat thins. They are tasty and whole grain. Only downside is that they are small. I have 4 of them with an ounce of pepper jack cheese- one of my favorite post-op snacks! -Kendra
