  1. Funny you should post this today. I have never regretted it, BUT I have those days (like today) where I am having head hunger and missing my old life. At least the part where I could eat whatever I wanted and "fill that void". I got on the scale this morning and I gained a pound from last Sunday for no apparent reason. That kind of set the tone for the day, and when I got home from the grocery store, I dug into my box of reduced fat wheat thins and ate a full serving- 16 crackers. (definitely a slider) I didn't go totally off the deep end like I would have pre-surgery, and I did log it, and I am still well under my calorie goal set my MFP, but you do have good days and bad days post-op. No regrets, per se, but you miss your old friend- food in quantity... -Kendra

    Offended? Dating and weight.

I agree with the other posters who said he wasn't too smart to send you a video where he is talking about you in the background, drunk or not. HOWEVER, I don't see how what he said was all that bad. I mean, he did call you "big", but you were, right? He still found you hot, and now he thinks you are even more. If you like the guy other than this minor slip up, I say give him another chance. -Kendra

    NSV

Love that! This morning I threw away a pair of underwear- I was swimming in my freaking underwear!

Trying to get family to change - A little rant

If you tried it it would probably make you sick anyway. I can't imagine eating that now. I used to love that pie also, but God, it's so freaking rich..ugh. My husband like a lot of "junky" things- I have him keep them in his office. Pre-surgery, sometimes I would go in there and sneak some stuff, but I havent done that in awhile. -Kendra

    PSYCHO DONUTS

I don't know how to address this situation. Have you had a donut since surgery? If you have and it went down well, I wouldnt get near a donut. However, maybe it will make you sick like it did me and cure you of your donut-wanting. It did me. Ugh! -Kendra
  6. I am almost 4 months out (on 4/17), and I honestly don't measure many things- I do know that I can eat more than I used to- a 1/4 lb (precooked) hamburger patty I can eat about 3/4 of, whereas just 6 weeks ago I could barely eat half. I do track all of it on MFP, and I eat 900-1000 calories per day now. I guess that hamburger patty after cooking is maybe 3 oz- so 2 oz dense Protein plus some tomato and baby spinach on top...altogether 3 oz? When I have eggs I have added an egg white to my one whole egg, so that's more-maybe 2/3 cup? I also sometimes purposely vary my calorie intake- like I will pick 2 days out of the week (nonconsecutive) and eat 1200-1300 calories on those days. I have found it shakes up my metabolism if I'm in a stall. -Kendra

    How do you reconcile?

I know what you mean. I feel like I might look older 88 pounds smaller. I think I look like a balloon that has been poked with a pin and has a slow leak- deflated, I always had a huge midsection and small rear end and small-ish legs. Of course, the belly fat is going to be the last to go. I keep waiting...LOL -Kendra

    Pysch Eval - FURIOUS!

I had to put off having surgery in August 2012 to December 2012 because the psychiatrist wouldn't approve me until I had further therapy sessions. I was really upset at the time but now I am glad I did. I am still seeing my fantastic therapist once a month- let's face it, I wasn't morbidly obese because I was the picture of mental health. Just my experience. I hope all goes well for you once you are approved! -Kendra
  9. Right at this moment I don't have a before picture readily available- I avoided cameras like the plague pre-surgery. But here is my 1st post-surgery picture taken yesterday. I am down a total of 88 lbs combining 30 lbs pre-surgery and 58 lbs post surgery. Best thing I have ever done. I will post a pre-surgery photo as soon as I can! -Kendra

    Ohio Sleeve patients?

I am in Lancaster, just south of Columbus. I had mine done at Riverside in Columbus by Dr. Sonnastine on 12/17. Nice to meet you! -Kendra
  11. At 3.5 months out mine are still very obvious. Good thing I'm not ever planning on wearing a two piece- a one piece forever would be fine by me! LOL

Where the heck is my restriction

The protein in the oatmeal is probably whey protein, which isn't the same as dense protein like chicken or fish or beef. Do you like hamburgers? Try a hamburger patty or a veggie burger. Tofu would be good too if you like that.

Where the heck is my restriction

Oatmeal is probably a slider, which is why you didn't feel any restriction. How are you doing with denser Protein? If you are on soft foods, try eggs or some tuna or chicken salad. It's the dense protein that gives you the biggest feeling of restriction. -Kendra

    Easter Candy!

My son got 4, YES 4 Easter baskets, all with candy in them. I did eat a chocolate covered brownie egg (a little smaller in size than a PB egg). But that was it. He got some rice crispie treats that have been calling me, but I have resisted. Stay strong...candy is one mean slider! -Kendra

How the sleeve saved my life

Aww. You look so fab and healthy and happy!

    AFTER SURGERY THEN WHAT?

Yes, any healthy diet is going to include fruits and vegetables, including after surgery. Usually, though, you won't be eating any salads or fruit until a couple months out or according to your surgeon's guidelines.

    hair loss help

Thanks for the tip- I am 3.5 months out and it has started...ugh. I do take Biotin but that doesn't seem to be very effective. -Kendra

Did something I probably shouldn't have

I think you did fine. No matter how far out we are, we are all a work in progress.
  19. By the time you get to goal you aren't eating 500 calories a day. By then it should be 1000-1200. You then switch to maintenance which means increasing your calories in order to maintain.

    no longer morbidly obese

Great job! It's great to move out of that bracket! I am so happy to be just "severely overweight". Sounds so weird but true!
  21. At the risk of being totally beaten with a wet noodle by my fellow sleevers, I admit I ate a Tim Horton's honey cruller this morning as a treat. NEVER AGAIN. I have had no issues with the foods I have introduced to my sleeve since surgery on 12/17/12. Until today. Here I sit, with tons of errands to run, with intestinal cramps before which my heart pounded, and I'm afraid I won't be able to get away from the bathroom long enough to get much accomplished today. UGH. I have become the "donut nazi". NO DONUTS FOR YOU! Ever...OMG. -Kendra

    constipation

Just want you to know I comiserate. Miralax is my best friend. I also take SS every day. Although at the moment I am not having the issue, due to my dumping episode this morning. That cure for constipation I do not recommend. -Kendra

    6 months since surgery

I would say, how do you feel? Do you feel pretty good & comfortable at your current weight, or do you feel like you would feel better at your doctor's recommended weight? I think it's up to you and how YOU FEEL. -Kendra
  24. "Fatties"? LOL You're right, you don't fit in here. In all honesty, and in the spirit of true sisterhood, you should probably just head on over to MFP. -Kendra

5 days post op and STARVING! Help!

It's the wrong one, then. Get a different one. YOU ARE NOT TRULY HUNGRY! It's not freaking possible! I don't know, maybe it's head hunger, but there's nothing you can do about that. YOUR STOMACH DOES NOT WANT food.
