  1. The feeling will pass...I don't recommend making yourself throw up. I have experienced what u are feeling a few times and that was a few too many. It has taught me to slow down and really chew my food thoroughly to a paste like substance to avoid what is called sliming. Taking small burps helped me as well as walking around or sitting upright. Good luck and remember chew chew chew....and just when h think you have chewed enough...chew some more!

  2. Sleeved 2/21 and down 21.5lbs since surgery. Seems like I'm stalling now but I expected that. Just work on getting in all of your Water. I think this is most important in aiding with the weight loss. Also I haven't been cleared for the gym yet but I walk the track for 30-45 minutes a day to get some movement in and it helps...not too mention I want these thighs to go down...lol...Good luck!

  3. I had surgery 2.5 weeks ago and also received a bill from the hospital of 36000....I was shocked...however my insurance is pending and I should only be required to pay the 1,000 deductible...will keep u posted.

  4. Hi guys,

So I had my one week post op appt today and my surgeon was concerned due to my elevated heart rate. It was 115 and he stated they don't want it over 100. He also said I was dehydrated due to not getting in the appropriate 64oz.of fluids which I have honestly been trying but failing miserably. If it wasn't for sugar free popsicles I don't know what I would do. So anyway he proceeds to tell me that I need to cut the fat free and sub for regular when it comes to the popsicles and milk and yogurts, etc because my body needs more nourishment. He said he understood I was trying to work my sleeve but that I may be doing too good...just to give my stats

Starting weight he recorded-281 lbs.(highest weight was 297)

SW-267.2(lost 14 on pre op Atkins diet)

Left hospital-270.3(water weight gain of 3lbs.)

    12 days post op-251.0

Total weight loss from surgery =19lbs. in 12 days....overall weight loss =30 lbs.

I'm very excited with these results however I do not want to be hospitalized for lack of nourishment. Any advice of what you guys were eating on a daily basis at 2 weeks out with be greatly appreciated. I have looked at other posts but would really love a breakdown of a typical menu for those who are two weeks out. I was approved today to go to purees. Thoughts? Thanks!

  5. Ok... I already know I'll get some but let the flames begin. I did this as a social experiment for the better of our group here who want to know about drinking and how the sleeve effects you (sounds convincing right? :).

Last night I went out with a buddy of mine - had a beer... two long island iced teas... and a malibu and diet coke. This was all over the span of about 5 hours. Yes I know its empty calories... Yes I know blahblahblah... but I drink RARELY. I must say that yes I did notice it made me drunker faster for sure... no other issues though. No more hung over today than the last time I got drank and got drunk about a year ago...

I've actually had a good week of losing too... and on a strange side note - I woke up almost two pounds lighter today. Probably from all of the Water I lost peeing.

Needless to say I've been hitting the Water hard today to replace it so I'm not expecting to see a loss for a couple of days. I'm SO CLOSE TO the 250's I CAN TASTE IT! Haven't seen them since 2007!!

    How far out are u?

  6. For me the sleeve was the perfect middleground. I was afraid of bypass due to the malabsorption issues and food restrictions. After all I'm not looking for a list of food I can't have....I want to be able to eventually eat everything in moderation but within limits. I also did not want to be left with a stringent regiment of Vitamins that I must take everyday of my life. The lapband posed too much of a risk and fear that I could regain. The results for sustained weight loss was to slim for me if I was going to have surgery. so as a former poster wrote the sleeve for me was "just right". My surgeon thought I made a wise choice based on my reasoning. I'm 7 days post op and am very happy with my choice. Good luck!

  7. Glad to see everyone doing ok out of surgery!!! We rock woohoo :)

On another note can I get some insights on bowel movements? I had some the 3rd day because of the edema and depository but today it's only been gas like crazy!!!

I'm 7 days post OP and haven't had one yet....just gas...thinking of trying some Miralax if nothing"moves" by Monday...I also plan to up my fluids as I hear that helps

  8. I would probably opt out of a dinner/lunch date and steer him to a active date. Going to dinner would most likely only frustrate you more than anything else. I don't know where you live' date=' but perhaps bowling, miniature golf, go to a museum or art gallery.[/quote']

I wouldn't necessarily suggest bowling due to the lifting requirement so soon after surgery but I would agree with the others about a movie date or more active date such as mini golf or a concert maybe...also perhaps going to an evening movie you can do a Starbucks after and simply have a tea or decaf....don't stress it to much and enjoy yourself! Update us on whatever you decide!

  9. BMI is mid 40s. It's little frustrating ...I hope it speeds up!

Sent from my iPhone using VST

My BMI was 42 and I'm 6 days out and have lost 13 so far. Afraid because its coming off so fast it will slow down....I guess we just have to wait and see...hope we both have fast weight loss so we reach our goals quickly....good luck...I'm sure it will speed up for you! 10.5 ain't too shabby!

  10. Leak - unfortunately I have a leak. Yesterday during my one week checkup the doctor said my drain was draining Soup that I was eating. Sent me over to the hospital for a cat-scan and a upper GI which confirmed quote "a small leak and a small bubble of fluid". The surgeon explained how bad "deadly" this could become quickly and put me on a all liquid diet nothing solid including the gummy vitamins. Today we return to the hospital to put a "pick line" in so they can take blood' date=' put food, put medicine etc in. We are very scared and disappointed. This is certainly not what I bargained for especially because I was a PERFECT patient. I think I have a long road ahead.[/quote']

I'm so sorry Susan for what you are going through....a leak is all of our worse fear but there are many leak survivors who are doing wonderful and don't regret there decision. I pray for you a speedy recovery on your journey and look forward to this being a memory in a short while. Hugs to you and stay positive!

  11. Ok guys I am 5 days post OP and feel blah....I can't get any Protein down and am basically living off of sugar free popsicles at this point. Yesterday I ate 5 SF popsicles and drank maybe 8 oz. of Water which I know is no where near my daily intake goals...I really have no desire to eat or drink....anyone else feel like this...I'm trying not to be discouraged but really am frustrated that I am not getting in what I should be...any advice

  12. Thanks for all the well wishes guys. I made it to the losers bench! I'm sleeved! Surgery went well...lost 14 lbs on pre OP diet which was the Atkins induction diet. I'm still in hospital until tomorrow hopefully...pain meds and nurses are awesome...the breathing spirometor(sp) is a big help. Still pretty nauseous when I get up to walk but it helps Sooooooooo much with the gas pains which have been the worse....looking forward to talking to my surgeon this morning and will keep u all posted...only have been able to eat ice chips so far and honestly that's all I have wanted....love u all and good luck to the remaining Feb sleevers...we have seats open on the loosers bench!

  13. I'm in the waiting room now....super nervous and trying to calm my nerves....it doesn't help that my cycle started (TMI) and my glasses broke so I will wake up and not be able to see a thing since they are making me remove my contacts....Jesus help me calm down and rid me of this anxiety...I know everything will work out for the good...say a prayer for me fellow sleevers....today I change my life for the better!

  14. OMG....I am hours away from being sleeved....surgery is at 10am and I have to be at hospital at 7am....I'm nervous, scared and excited all wrapped into one emotion....but I'm ready to start a new chapter in my life....I'm gonna be thirty this year and I want to leave all this fat in my twenties! So ready to get this over with and be home with my babies....please pray for me and good luck to all February sleevers...its our time!!!

  15. Sharing these pics with the intention they encourage someone about the procedure..

I was sleeved August 22' date=' 2012. I weighed 292 lbs at the age of 24. I was wearing a 3XL in shirts and 24 in pants. 5 1/2 months later, I weigh 209, wear a 10 in pants, and a medium in shirts! Tell me who wouldn't wanna look better and feel better. Tell me what y'all think.

    [/quote']

Awesome results! We have similar stats and I'm being sleeved on the 21st...can u share a typical diet from beginning to now? Would love to have similar results as my goal is to lose 100 lbs.
