  1. I had a few problems' date=' but it wasn't CWM's fault, or my insurance companies fault.I was approved through my old insurance company, but a few weeks before my initial surgery date (Feb 4th) my company changed providers, and the prerequisites changed. CWM told me not to worry as well, but I did, and I made myself a nervous wreck all for nothing. CWM had the whole thing straightened out in about 2 weeks time, and Im back on the schedule for 2 weeks from now.

I've had people tell me to stay on top of my insurance and call, call, call, but CWM wont drop the ball on you like that. If they say they're going to take care of the problems, trust them, they'll do it! It might not be as fast as you'd like, but dont worry, they'll get you squared away![/quote']

You are very correct. I was approved shortly after this post and come to find out there was just som miscommunication from the insurance company. All is well though and I will be sleeved on next Tuesday. Good luck with you journey!!

  2. So I finally received insurance approval this week. My surgery is set for 2/26. I've gone through so many emotions now that this is all becoming reality. I wonder if I will truly be able to do this. I'm afraid of failing and just praying that this will finally be the end of this journey of losing and gaining. I'm not trying to be skinny....I just want to live!! My babies need me and I have to do this for them just as much as for myself. I'm looking forward to being able to be physically active enough to take them to the park, ride bikes etc. Even though I'm nervous I'm also excited at the thought of the new me! I've read so many posts here over the past few months and am so inspired by all of the inspirational and insightful posts. So since my family doesn't agree with my decision to have the surgery...this message board has been my source of support through this process. I'm looking forward to walking through this journey with lots of support from fellow sleevers!

  3. Yay!!! Congratulations! I konw you are so happy! I talked to the insurance coordinator yesterday at CWM and she seemed to be very helpful. Hope to be submitting next week for insurance approval after finding out Cigna now only requires a minimum of 3 month's physician monitored weight loss program. Having my EGD tomorrow. Can't wait to have this surgery! Good luck with yours and keep us posted on how you're doing. :-)

Thank you!! Hopefully I will talk to the nurse tomorrow to discuss next steps and I guess set a date for surgery. I wish you luck for a quick approval process!! I will keep you guys posted.

  4. Really? This is the kind of thing that worries me. They should know what they are doing and submit the proper documents the first time. I have an appt. today and have asked to speak to the insurance coordinator. I want to make sure everyone has their ducks in a row. I was also told that I had to do a 6 month physician monitored weight loss program for Cigna to approve the surgery' date=' but 4 months in, after some research and calling Cigna to confirm, they apparently only require a 3 month program as of May 2012. I plan to speak with them about this as well today.[/quote']

And I don't know that It's so much the insurance coordinator as it is the doctor just not having his documents prepared. Whatever the case may be its frustrating. I think the most important thing though is to make sure you stay on top of things. Since I wrote the first post I've already talked to cwm and BCBS several times. Before I was just kind of leaving things in their hands and letting the chips fall. It sounds like you are already on top of things so you will be fine. Everyone that I've come in contact with at the office is super nice and supportive. Good luck with everything.

  5. I didnt have any trouble with the approval' date=' it went right through the first time, call back and ask for the insurance coordinator, i cant remember her name, i have bcbs nc and i gave it one week and called them and my insurance company then them again until i got an answer.....[/quote']

Maybe I just need to be patient and wait it out a bit more. It is so very frustrating though.

  6. Dr. Gersin will be doing my surgery on March 25th. So far I can tell he is a really serious person' date=' not a great sense of humor, but seems to be a good doctor, I have heard good things about him though...

I'm with CWM...but not really having good success with getting them to submit the proper docs for insurance approval. I was so excited when they submitted my info over a month ago. Now it seems as though the wind has been knocked out of my sails!! I've called them numerous times and they keep telling me not to worry and that I don't need to do anything additional....but then I get a call from my insurance company advising me that they are not receiving requested info from them. Just getting so discouraged. Could someone share their experience?
