    Questions! Advice please :)

You're not going to be eating enough carbs at this point to make a dent. I didn't focus on calories, carbs or fat! I was barely eating 2 oz of food every 2-3 hours. Until you get to the point of eating regularly, I would just concentrate on fueling your body! The most important element is protein!

    Pain reliever

Btw.... It was a life saver!

    Pain reliever

My doctor actually said it was okay to take alleve. He said no NSAIDs before, but it was okay afterwards. Alleve helped with gas pain as well... That's what he recommended for gas pain, actually. I could swallow pills no bigger than an m&m, if larger, I had to break them up.

    I Gave In ????

I wanted pizza! Still do! I wanted steak! I don't even eat steak! Lol! Definitely head hunger, especially after eating only yogurt and cottage cheese! Lol! I broke down a couple times and my body reminded me it was too soon!

    post op

Walk, gas x, alleve really helps and I put a heating pad on my shoulder and it helped a lot! Good luck!

    Incisions

My doctor just told me that they'd fall off on their own.
  9. Does it get any easier? I'm dying for a cookie or pretzel! Argh!
  10. Not sure. I experienced that on day 2... I felt much better after it though. Drink a little pickle juice. It should help with the slimed. As for the vomit: had you thrown up before? Was it all slimy(sorry graphic)? I was told that they encouraged you to cough up all the mucous stored in your belly. It helped prevent pneumonia. But that's early on, not two weeks in. Do you have aftercare established? You might want to inquire, just to be safe. Good luck.

    Skin Firming

Wraps are kind of temporary. I've never heard of any lasting results. They cost a lot. I recommend taking collagen supplements. Try this: dry brush(helps circulation), wash with sulfate free body wash( helps retain moisture), exfoliate(2x a week, gets additional dead skin off), moisturize with a good body cream( nivea is good). Supplement with silcon and collagen( you can find a good hair, skin and nails supplement at GNC or walgreens). Also, wear a compression garment to hold things in. Gravity will only stretch and pull as you lose weight. It'll help. It'll never prevent it totally, but it'll help. Weight lifting will help, also. Good luck!
  12. I coughed up a lot of phlegm on day 2. A lot! As soon as I did, I felt a million times better! I read somewhere that was important to do in order to help prevent pneumonia. I still get a little gas pain and just take gas x. I also walk around a lot. I drink a little pickle juice that seems to help as well. I'm 6 days out. Hope you guys feel better.

    Surgery Day!

Yay! I'm on the way to the hospital! See you on the other side!
  15. The big day is here! I'm pretty nervous and hope I can get some sleep tonight! I kind of lost it this weekend and ate sushi and a drumstick ice cream cone! Lol! I was told I would be outpatient, which means I could leave after a 6hr hospital stay. I'm assuming I don't need to take anything with me, do I?

Oh Snap... Surgery tomorrow! Am I ready?

I know what you mean! My head is spinning over the food, but I'm going to suck it up and eat a healthy last meal and try to sleep through the night! We can do it! Good luck tomorrow!

    Pre-Op Calorie Intake

I was just told 80g Protein, 45g carb and 30g fat. I drink 1 bottle of isopure(40g protein) a day. 1 myoplex shake. 1 Meal Replacement bar. Egg white omelet with tablespoon of salsa and two pieces of turkey bacon. I also have a salad, with 1/2oz shredded cheese, 3oz broiled salmon and a hard boiled egg. I have broth a couple times a day when I crave carbs. And sugar free Popsicles when I crave sugar. A couple of times I've had a cup of chai latte. I even went to the movies and had half a small bag of popcorn. I drink tons of Water. I had to design my diet because of my food allergies. As long as I adhere to the formula, I'm losing! I lost 10 lbs in 4days. I'm not going to lie, I feel hungry often. I was only required to lose 10lbs. My mom quasi followed my regimen... She's not on pre-op, just being nice because of my situation. She lost 5lbs. I'm not exercising, because I have a broken leg, so imagine how much could be lost. Anyway, good luck! I have surgery in 3 days!

    **count down*** Excited

3 days for me! Best wishes to you all!

I barely got through day one...pre-op

Thanks! I know this is for a good cause...it's just been harder than I thought. I'm home with a broken leg so all I have is time to think about is something crunchy! I'm also allergic to a lot of things, so I had to design my own pre-op! I'm trying not to go all liquid, but I have to lose 10lbs by next week for surgery! Pray for me! Lol!

    Pre op Diet and Constipation

Not today. I do take acidophilus. Try smooth move tea at night. It should help. I got it from Walgreens. You can also get it from grocery store or health food store.
  24. So, things haven't gone as I've planned for this weight loss journey. Once I made the decision to explore it back in November 2012, I was ready to make it happen! Then I was told my insurance required a 3 month supervised weight loss program. To say I was bummed would be an understatement. After I regrouped, I resolved that 3 months wasn't so bad and it gave me the time to think about my decision and truly educate myself about eat I was doing. I was really grateful for that time. My last meeting was January 9 and I figured I'd probably have surgery in February or March and then I fell. I broke my leg January 2 and was worried that it would jeopardize my weight loss( for the program) and that they would want me to wait until my cast came off( 6 weeks!). That wasn't the big deal, but, I only have so much leave time from work and with this broken leg, I was using it up. My window for this surgery was quickly dwindling! If I didn't have it soon, I wouldn't be able to have it at all, this year! Well, I'm happy to say, they are going to move forward with my surgery! I have a walking cast now and they feel comfortable doing it! I started my pre-op diet today and My surgery is next week! Yay! So here's the big question: when did you guys FEEL comfortable going back to work? I will probably have to return on Feb 28. Is that enough time? Thanks!
  25. So, I had my Egd and had to pay almost $400 for the service. Then, I was told that I had an out of pocket maximum of $5000.00 or 15% coinsurance. Say what? So, why wasn't I told this back in November when I started this process? Ugh! My surgery is in 10 days! I'm so annoyed! I'm do glad this is almost over! Just had to vent!
