  1. Sorry to say but I don't think there is anything you can do about the loose skin. I exercise, do weight training, use a firming cream, etc...and still I have a ton of loose skin but you know what I am no longer 308 pounds and I feel great. Do my boobs sag...yup, do my legs and arms sag,,,,yup but wouldn't go back for anything in this world....loose skin and all.

  2. You will do great!!! I had my surgery on September 25, 2012 9 months ago...I started at 308 and this morning weighed in at 180. The best decision I have ever made in my life!!!! I woke up from surgery without an ounce of pain...no discomfort...nothing. I actually thought they didn't do the surgery and than I thought I was numb from the surgery but I never had an ounce of pain or discomfort at all. Never needed pain meds not even Tylenol. I never had any nausea or vomiting and still don't. I am able to eat everything just a small amount. I had my surgery done at Community Hospital in Toms River NJ by Dr.McCaughan. I was up walking 5 minutes after being brought back to my room and I think that was the best thing to do...walk walk walk. Good Luck and only positive thoughts. Yay you!!!!!

  3. I have just figured out that my period will be starting a day before my surgery...

I am a bit wigged out about this. The hygenic issues of course... worried about having catheter down there.

The cramps I get are pretty bad, especially day 1 and 2, I have long heavy flows. How will I clean myself, even handle things like tampons or pads if i'm layed up in bed barely able to move with wires and drains and such?

    I'm pretty freaked out here.

    Any advice?

I was on day three of my period when I had the surgery. I told the nurse on the day of surgery and she gave me a pair of mesh panties and a pad....she said it's not a big deal so many women have their periods when they go for surgery. My period stopped after the surgery and I didn't get it again until the next month. Everything was fine. Don't worry....it's not a big deal. Good Luck!!!!!!

  4. Hi. I am getting sleeved on the 13th and was wondering if you had experienced much, if any, pain right after the procedure?

I was sleeved on September 25, 2013 and back to work 5 days later. I had absolutely no pain, vomiting, nothing at all. I was up walking 15 minutes after getting back to my room and I walked walked walked. I have now lost 100 pounds and feel great. I still have no issues what so ever.....good luck!!!!!

  5. BunnyDee,

Here is the recipe for the Italian Wedding Soup.

1 Quart of chicken Stock (Homemade or a good store bought. Not broth use the stock.

    1 lb of ground chicken

    1 clove chopped garlic

    1/2 tsp. oregano

    1/2 tsp. basil

    1 egg

    1/4 cup bread crumbs

2 large heads or escarole or 2 bags of spinach

    parmigiana cheese (grated)

    salt & pepper to taste.

Put chicken stock in large soup pot. Mix all other ingredients except escarole or spinach and salt & pepper.Form tiny meatballs and drop into soup that is on a high simmer. Add the escarole or spinach and simmer for 30 minutes. Add salt & pepper to taste. Sprinkle parmigiana cheese on top of soup after served in bowls. So yummy and easy. You can also add Pasta if you would like but I don't miss it a bit.

  6. I am 5 months out today and have lost 97 pounds. Like you said, Protein doesn't feel good however I eat a ton of homemade Soups that I put a ton of meat in....my favorite is Italian Wedding Soup. I put a ton of chicken meatballs, spinach or escarole and chicken broth. It goes down great and taste yummy. Sprinkle with parmigiana cheese right before you eat it. I don't put any Pasta and I don't miss it a bit. Also I make beef veggie soup and cut the meat really tiny. Try it!!!!! Great job on your weight lose, obviously your doing something right.

  7. Well tomorrow is our 4 month Sugiversary...yay for us. I have now lost 88 pounds....27 pounds before surgery and 61 since. I went from 308 to 220...just 21 more pounds to be out of the 2's. I feel great. I also struggle to get in my Protein and Water. I am drinking Protein Shakes to get the protein. I am able to eat everything. Never had a bit of pain or vomiting since the surgery. I never needed any pain meds and was up walking 15 minutes after being brought back to my room from recovery. I had my surgery on September 25, 2012 and was back to work on October 1, 2012...6 days later. I workout 5 days a week for an hour. So happy I did this and wish I would have done it years ago....

  8. I was sleeved on September 25, 2012....No pain at all....never took any pain meds...was up walking 15 minutes after getting back to my room. I did have some gas in my shoulder but walking helped that. I was back to work the following Monday....so six days out of work. I am serious...when I say no pain I mean NONE....My doctor said everyone is different and I think it depends also on your doctor. I was scared to death but oh so happy I did it.....You will do great, have positive attitude.....Best of Luck and let us know how you do.

  9. Thanks so much....My doctor told me I had to quit before he would do the surgery. I promised him I would so I did....I never break a promise. Besides that, when they found the nodular on my lung it scared the begeezies out of me...I want to see my kids marry and have families of their own. I smoked for 33 years and decided I wanted to live same for having the surgery and losing weight. I quit cold turkey but never had any withdrawal after I stopped. I don't know if it had something to do with the surgery or not....weird.

  10. This is what I eat in a typical day:

Breakfast- Cottage cheese or a scrambled egg with cheese.

Lunch-Turkey & Cheese Roll ups....I can probably eat 2 now and I am 2 months out.

Dinner-Baked Boneless chicken Breast, Broiled Fish or Seafood, a few bites of a soft veggie....

In between I try to eat a greek yogurt that is high in Protein. I will also eat a hard boiled egg in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. If I haven't gotten all of my protein in I will have a shake or an Atkins Advantage Bar....the bars are really good and low in Carbs and Sugar. I drink crystal light all day long...as much as I can. I don't get in the full 64 ounces but I sure do try...lol

  11. Hello all fellow sleevers....I had my surgery on September 25, 2012. To date I have lost a total of 64 pounds including 17 pounds on my 2 week Optifast Diet. I also quit smoking the day before my surgery. Three days before my surgery my primary doctor said that chest XRay showed a small nodular on my right lung and I had to have a CT Scan before he cleared me for surgery. Luckily my best friend works at the hospital I was having the surgery at so she got me in that day to have the scan. Results were sent to my doctor the same day and it was nothing....he cleared me for surgery....YAY!!!!! The morning of my surgery I was nervous and wanted so bad to smoke....of course I didn't. When I woke up from surgery the nurse in recovery asked me if I needed something for pain....I thought to myself...did they do the surgery????? I have NO pain. I mean I literally had no pain. I did have a drain in for a week which was fine....again no pain at all. I was brought to my room at 12:30PM and was up walking at 12:45pm. I did laps around the nurses station for the next 2 days. Walking was my best friend. Even the doctor was shocked when he came up to my room a few hours after my surgery and I wasn't there....I was doing laps. I never had any pain, nausea, vomiting....nothing at all. I was one of the lucky ones....the poor guy who had surgery right after me was in so much pain and couldn't get up....My doctor said he can't explain it...some people have no pain at all, some minor and some have a great deal of pain. I joined the gym and trying to get in all my Protein and Water. The water and protein is a challenge but I work on it every day. I take my Vitamins and even thought my doctor doesn't really want me to take Protein Shakes or Protein Bars (he says it will slow down my weight loss) I do sometimes grab one just to get in the protein. I find that if I eat solid protein I can only eat 5 or 6 bites but if I try to eat crackers, chips, pretzels, anything flat and dry I can eat a bunch of that. Protein Protein Protein....I would do this again tomorrow,,,,,Best decision I ever made. I am still a non smoker....One Day at a Time.....
