  1. Hi there, I'll be officially 20 weeks out tomorrow and have lost 67 pounds so far. I've experienced the same stalls as well, but I've done something that almost always gets me to the right track. Whenever I reach a stall, yet still maintaining my healthy eating habits and exercising daily (i do crossfit twice per week and cardio 4 times per week) I find that my body is retaining water. So I take a water pill maybe once per week. Sure enough, I pee like crazy for about 4 hours in that day, rehydrate during the day, and by the time i step on the scale the next morning, I'm about 4 pounds down, which is what i should've expected during that week anyway. It weighs out for me... also during my cycle time, my body retains soooo much water, so i actually let my cycle completely go through then the day after my last day i have a water pill just to release all that water. Look hunny, truth be told, as long as the scale isn't moving up and your staying active, your alright! hope this helps a bit! Also, i definitely notice, when i'm retaining water and have a water pill, inches go as well.
  2. I had dr.feiz and my emotions are mixed. i had the worse time post op (hospitalized for 2 months due to complications).. but overall surgery and after care were stellar for me! pm if there is anything specific you'd like to know. i am 60 pounds down in 4 months...
  3. I actually dont have any extra skin. Definitely needs some tightening up, but I take collagen daily and that helps a ton.
  4. Excited because we got to wear jeans and tees to work today and as i was snapping photos i finally saw just how much weight i've actually lost. great feeling to go through all that i went through and feel so great on the outside.
  5. I take this brand (you can find at GNC or online).. It's 1 scoop mixed in juice or whatever you'd like. I usually throw a scoop in my Protein shake and its like its not even there. Lasts for about a month too!
  6. Collagen is one of those beauty drugs people often forget about. Collagen increases skin elasticity, smoothes away scars, and regenerates hair and nails. Collagen makes up 25% of the body's Protein and is used particularly for hair loss because it supports the body's hair building protein. It is also targets many of the problems associated with WLS including hair loss, saggin skin, and protein loss.
  7. I take collagen daily to help with my skin.. so far 60 pounds down and im as tight as i was before.. Really good for hair as well. I've experienced no shedding either!
  8. I was in the hospital for about 2 months. had the surgery dec 20th, around the 13th of january was not able to keep any solids down so i had an upper gi done and it was determined that there was too much scar tissue so went back in for a revision to clear the scar tissue on jan 20th felt even worse afterwards and on the 25th had a stent placed in my esophagus for 10 days to open the stricture helped a tiny bit but had 2 dilations after that and was back and forth in the hospital until they determined i contracted a syndrome called SMA (semantic mesenteric artery) where pretty much theres this fat slab that holds the intestines in place and in my rapid weight loss, i lost that slab as well my intestines shifted onto an artery that was lodged against my esophagus and that i would probably have problems for the rest of my life.. long story short after being fed through a pic line for 2 months and basically being told there was nothing they could do, i discharged myself from the hospital, had the pic line removed, and decided to heal myself. Started eating even if it wouldnt stay down and staying active and COMING OFF ALLL THE MEDICATIONS and since I've done that i feel fine can eat fine (besides the limitations of the sleeve) and am exercising daily with loads of energy. I'm doing crossfit training and losing about 6 pounds per week no stalls no complications.. but it was such a scary experience i almost regretted doing it.
  9. My surgery was on 12/20 and I am 62 pounds down! I feel awesome! Hope everyone is doing well....
  10. Hi, I'm 24 5'7 and had a starting weight of 256lbs so we're pretty close. I had my surgery on December 20, 2012 and today I am 194 pounds so a total of 60 pounds lost since surgery. I think everyone is different but here are some pics of my before and after. I had a pretty rough time until about 3.5 months out, but at this point i don't regret it! Hope this helps....
  11. I'm extremely excited about my progress. I will be 4 months post op 4/20 and weighed in at 196.2 this morning. last time i stepped on the scale i was 202. I'm super excited! I haven't been this size since high school. I started at 2x/3x tops and 16/18 pants. now I'm a large in tops and 13/14 in pants! such a major change in only 16 weeks! even though i was hospitalized for 2 months and went on a hell of a ride since I've been sleeved, I am now seeing the benefits. Best decision ever!!!
  12. Happy to report.. I'm back to normal. I had the worse and am just now seeing the payoff 3 months out. I've lost 60lbs total so far.. 56 since surgery. I'm feeling good and looking good might I add! Hope every who had December surgeries are doing well!
  13. And I'm alive to live to tell about it.as everyone knows I've had my highs and lows on what this entire experience has done to me and I was made a vowel to myself that I wouldn't make it more or less what what it was. To say the least I regret it. I am almost repulsed with stepping on a scale everyday. I look at a scale and want to run out of the house. Started the journey back on December 20,212 and thought it was the best decision I have ever made. Fast forward to 7 weeks post op and I've had 2 additional surgeries ave hospitalized for the last 10 days. Better days are ahead I can feel. I'm working with a world glass team and they know they're stuff. I'm eating drinking and having urinations and bowel movements. Had tomato bisque with cranberry juice and sorbet for dinner. It was yummy. Within about 10 minutes of that was off to restroom letting it all out. My stent is set to come out this upcoming Tuesday and I'm so glad for that! Hopefully this is the beginning of the new sleeve for me. Some stats; SW: 256 CW: 209 GE: 140 Almost out of the 200s. Would not have been able to do that in 7 weeks. Good bye 46 pounds!
  14. I said it right. I was originally sleeved on december 20th 2012. About 3-4 weeks out started having major complications with swallowing and nausea and vomiting. A day after my 4th week post op my surgeon ordered an upper gi series and it showed lots of scar tissue causing a stricture between my esophagus and stomach allowing nothing to enter the sleeve. Was scheduled for a repair the following Thursday January 24th and it was worse than the surgeon expected. Turned out to be a 3 hour procedure and I woke up in horrific pain. Today I am 4 days post op from the second surgery and nausea is worse than ever and I'm dry heaving so help me god! My abdomen and left shoulder have sharp pains shooting through them. Will be meeting with surgeon again tomorrow to decide next course of action.. I cannot believe i did this to myself. Honestly, that's just where I am at with this whole situation...
  15. I'm like this is great... To actually see it!
  16. Only 4 weeks post op and I can actually see the 30 pounds gone away... It's been tough but I'm actually ok with the results so far. I'm pretty tall so I thought it would take at least 50 pounds to see a difference. My concern is that at 6 months post ill be underweight ;(... Not too worried. But during these rough patches, these pics are great inspiration that all the suffering isn't for nothing!
  17. Just weighed in... Down 4 pounds this week Start of challenge: 235 Week 1: 230 Week 2: 226 Goal: 215 The scale is moving!!
  18. Well unfortunately I'm writing today's blog with such an attitude. At 4 weeks out, I still can't even keep liquids down comfortably. I hate it! I was so stressed out and tired last night that I just got on my knees and prayed. I'm tired of crying, tired of the thirst (not hunger, but thirst!)... I'm sure when I get to my post op appointment I will be put on an IV for dehydration because I've taken in less than 20oz each day over the last week. I feel so unhealthy and can't even complain because I elected this. I'm sure this is PMS or one of those emotional stages we all go through.. But I definitely don't like it! On the other hand, I'm down 30 pounds. Here are my stats: HW: 256 SW: 247 Day I left surgery: 258 CW: 226 Not too bad considering all of my clothes are sagging but my body feels really jiggly so I know I have to get in the gym and do sme weight lifting but I vowed to not do anything until I can keep down a set number of calories... Keep me in your prayers for I know better days are just ahead!!!
  19. im down 5 pounds this week, bringing me to 230lbs. Excited!! I already updated the spreadsheet! Beginning of Challenge: 235 Week 1 weight in: 230 Goal weight: 215
  20. I completely agree. I must admit that prior to surgery i would read posts about the awful 2 and 3 week post op issues and would silently conclude to myself... that isnt gonna happen to me lol.. serves me right... i was not exempt. But knowing that people have been through it and are doing 100 times better as the weeks progress is such a relief that this too shall pass!
  21. This has been one hell of a ride. I've been both excited and depressed just the same. I am here to tell you weeks 2 and 3 are literally the hardest. At this point your tired of liquids, see a few stalls, and have all these thoughts that maybe, just maybe, this surgery isn't gonna work for you. And I'm telling you, I have felt all these things. On the plus side I did weigh in this morning and hit my one month post op goal 10days early!!! Yay for me!... Here are my stats: Starting weight: 256lbs Day of Surgery: 247lbs Day I left from Hospital: 258lbs 3 weeks post op: 230.2lbs I honestly didn't plan on seeing that weight until one month post op.. But 26 pounds down in the first 3 weeks with a stall in between.. I won't complain. Hope everyone is doing well as they recover, and for those considering the surgery: do your research! Know what to expect, and come to a point in your journey where you are ready for the rollercoaster because it is one hell of a ride!!!!! Tia
  22. I've never been much of an ice eater and had no desire to do so once I was post op.. But for some reason, any liqiud I drink that is ice cold or frozen, feels so good to my tummy and stays down. I noticed this when I had a pop-sicle about a week ago. It just went down so smooth and I was satisfied. I was having the hardest time getting water down. A lightbulb in my head comes on and says, freeze it. I let it sit in the freezer for about 3 hours, took it out, it was slushy like.. Went right on down and felt so refreshing. Tried the same thing with my vitamin water today and look at me.. only noon and I've already gotten about 30 ounces down. Think I've found a new trick.
  23. You are so right. I came across this article some time ago! Definitely helps me get through these rough weeks!
  24. We are going through the same exact thing. No matter what I do, every time I step on scale it reads the same exact amount. So discouraged about Thursday's weigh in because of this. We have a long way to go. I did try uping my water and protein and did 30minutes at the gym last Friday and shed 2 more pounds from my initial stall. Maybe its more about regulating what you bring in and what you burn out for better results. I am in the trial and error stage so just like you, I am extremely frustrated. We all have that "maybe this surgery isn't going to work for me" feeling from time to time.. I know I do!
